why do people even do this, commenting on people who commited suicide and judging those people in general. they suffered, all of them, and the last thing they would want to hear is some guy saying he/she's an asshole.

I see both sides doing the same thing. Both sides have people showing compassion and empathy which could be seen as excusing the behavior. I don't know the stories behind both cases.

Certainly there are two types of cases-mental illness and premeditated murder. I have no clue which either of these fit into.

Cases like Andrea Yates to me fall into murder, as it took time to commit these crimes and her defense seemed contrived. If she was serious, then the families surrounding her should have picked up on that and stopped it. We certainly need to take these things more seriously and stop treating women like delicate flowers. We can be violent and we can kill. People need to understand that and be aware of the warning signs.

But when a mother or father is losing custody, the ONLY reason to kill your child is to punish the other parent and/or the system. There is never an excuse. It is premeditated. I can have empathy for any parent separated from their kids, but if you truly love your children you would not kill them. Because at the end of the day, it isn't about you, it is about your child.

I am completely behind making the legal system fair for both mothers and fathers. We obviously need to change things. We need to criminalize parental alienation. I personally think that is completely separate from a parent choosing to abuse their ex by murdering their child. Even if one's ex is committing parental alienation, that is no excuse for murdering a child.

Personally, I have noted a possible tendency for perpetrator mothers to survive these incidents whereas the perpetrator fathers do not. I don't have numbers, and I can't prove it, but the incidents I see in the news seem to go that way.

I see people before and against both mother and father in the post segments. But yes mothers get a better time of it in some respects. Infanticide is a legal defense of sorts for some women. There is no system such as this in place for men. Although I believe it isn't used as much as you may think. What this basically boils down to is the demonisation of the male, the way people think about men and women is very different. I think we all know the kind of people that perpetuate these hatreds.

Not to sound racist(who am I kidding?lmao), but Anglo/English/British women are the most singularly disgusting malehaters on the face of the Earth.

Look at all of it, follow the rot. It is English women who universally side with other women no matter how evil that woman is. Briton's, even back to pre-Roman times had a flair of Matriarchal evil.

Stay away from Britain's, and most especially stay away from British women, and most of the feminist problem solves itself(as does the problems of racial oppression problem among African American's, stupidest mistake they could make is to continue to live amongst Anglo/Scott Irish Southerner's after slavery ended, but I digress).

Look at all the times society does take the mother to "task" for committing a grievous crime, and almost universally the woman in question is a non non English, woman.

British, and to a degree all Briton peoples, are a Matriarchal Race, get over it and realize race does matter. It is genetic, so expecting gender equality from English, is like expecting a bear to grow wings and fly.

They are simply incapable of any form of legitimate fairness or equity(hence why Britain's proudly raped and pillaged every or almost every peoples on the globe, from German's to Zulu, all peoples have been victimized by the British).

Some may argue that comparing the two is "unfair given the size of the internet", I say the person who makes such statements is intentionally biased as both comments are populated from people of the same race, from the same Country/region of the world.

you do realize that their were people feeling sympathy for the father as well, and also blaming the wife for the death of the father and child. Also postpartum depression is a known medical disease with one of the symptoms being the desire or need to kill ones children
