I'm so many of their movies the men are villains, hasbens and nameless goons that will all lose in a fight to a teenage girl who's done one kickboxing class. Even the females don't get hit the same way that males do in fights either. Don't dissuade the group of people who support your content just to pander to those who won't.

Movies that are hostile and belittling towards men, draw a lower male audience; the amazing thing is that movie producers are surprised by this.

I can remember all the bad reviews Brie Larson received, yet they cast her again with disastrous results.

I never understood why they go to a male dominant media then try to make it about women, if you like women and want to chase their boots to lick so much just buy women dominant media such as Barbie. The most stupid thing anyone can do is try to alienate and attack the target audience.

Its like buying the rights to Harry Potter then start hating on wizards and focus on aliens in the Harry Potter universe. Like why do that? The fandom likes wizards so why hate on wizards and focus on aliens? If you liked aliens and waned to write about aliens you should have went after a series that focuses on aliens.

This is why Wonder woman isn't doing so good comic wise or even a show is because her story is full of man hate in a fandom that is mostly male.

I am a middle aged man. I still get DVDs from the library. I've taken a look at all of the new superhero movies on the shelf for the last dozen years, and if it features a woman on the cover as the hero of the film, I just skip it. This means that I skip the vast majority of what is on the shelf in the superhero/ action section. I have tried to watch a few of them that feature the "strong female lead" and they're so bad. So I really have tried, but they were so bad and unrealistic that I gave up. I haven't watched one of those movies in a decade. But I get the feeling that a lot of men have the same decision making process as myself when it comes to this.

I am Gen X, but i would imagine we have a whole generation of younger men who never watch these films because they're not interested in watching the strong female lead role movies. This not only applies to my library, but it also applies to the movie theater. Young men don't go to the theater to watch these films. They speak with their wallet and that's great. Why pay to watch something that is not intended for you? Right? It makes no sense to do so.

Those movies are not made for men. It's not just a cultural decision but it's also a financial decision. The decision not to watch these films has nothing to do with misogyny at all. It has everything to do with, "This product doesn't apply to me so why should I buy it?" That applies not only to these films, but it applies to any product in a store. Take for instance, why should I but tampons if I am a man?

Imagine a story about heroism and adventure with a brave resourceful everyman hero who is imperfect and relatable, and he has a hot love interest who is feminine and wears bikinis and stuff. Sounds so clean and mean and refreshing in 2025

Also it's telling films like Captain Marvel didn't have anything for their female heroes to do but whine about the yucky mens trying to flirt with them or not take their plane flying seriously. I mean, you're a superhero. Shut up and do some heroic shit, OK?

They could have written it literally any way they wanted, but when women get Superman-tier powers all they want to do is bitch about men or show them they're actually better at throwing the magic hammer than the yucky penis-haver, who is now just an emasculated whiny broken Ser Dantos self-parody

I'm torn. It would be nice to see more blockbuster movies again which don't just condescend and insult male viewers, but things being what they are, it have led to so many men take their first steps into an MRA awakening, haven't they?

I'm not sure if it's in our best interest if broad entertainment manages to fool young men that culture is somehow on their side.

If I recall Disney bought Marvel in 2009 because they knew back then they didn't have much to appeal to boys and I even said back then that making boys the idiots in their movies didn't help.

Honesty, South Park had it right with the whole "Put a chick in it. Make it Gay and Lame" joke. I would say this could be the results of the 2024 election in the US but this time I know Disney losing money way before that.

At this point, I don't have faith in Disney only because they'll still mess it up. They could desperately make a brand new IP to appeal to boys and make it look cool enough for boys but they'll still be at the mercy of their own political idealology. They'll still find a way to shoehorn in some sort of Feminist agenda or some kind SJW/DEI agenda to a point where no one will watch it.

Is this plot line the only one that can make money? How many times do we re-boot Spider-Man and Batman?

I don’t think making a female lead turns boys away. It’s more about the way she is written. Take Ellen Ripley in Alien for example. That franchise has a huge male fan base and has strong female characters. Look at Lara Croft in Tomb Raider, one of the most popular video game franchises ever. Kill Bill was popular with guys.

I think you can have movies with a strong female lead that men and boys will like. But in the writing that matters. And Hollywood, not just Disney, hasn’t figured it out yet.

Imma be real with you, Critical drinker is a straight up incel and doesn't like women just for existing at this point. He has no actual takes on what's being said and gets triggered really easily while being as defamatory as possible because he thinks it makes him sound assertive or some shit. I stopped watching him when I was like 18 because I realized that he's pretty insufferable.
