The problem, IMO, is how women perceive men.

Women (big generalization), deep down, thanks to feminist bullshit, believe that men are basically defective women.

So when women imagine male power structures, they imagine them in the way that women have come to accept them; which is extreme amounts of nepotism based on gender. Because remember, being a woman is somehow a "qualification".

Men, however, are not defective women. Go figure. Men, in power, do any number of things. Sometimes very selfish, sometimes very selfless, but almost always (almost) never to do with gender. You reward your loyalist soldiers, your strongest warriors, your most productive personal staff... and more or less, screw everyone else.

There has never, in the west, been a patriarchy. Men do not hand other men roles because they have bait n' tackle. That's not to say there aren't bonafide sexists out there! Men who will, because they have been socialized to do so, trust other men more than they trust women by default. It's never been acceptable, despite what feminism tries to instill in modern women.

"Men" don't have institutional power any more than "whites" have institutional power. Travel the world, open your mind. Different places have different cultures with different priorities.

All the race-baiting and sexism is a distraction from the true enemy.

The ruling class is equal opportunity. You pay to play. If you don't have enough money, you're nothing. Doesn't matter what's between your legs or the color of your skin.

I'll try to dispense with the sarcasm for the rest of this post.

If men BOTH had the institutional power AND used it to hurt women, you'd expect every government institution to stomp down hard on women whenever possible.

Well, rape laws are softer on female rapists, gov't medical funding goes mostly to women, and... Yeah, the system does NOT stomp down on women whenever possible, it tries it's hardest to advantage them wherever possible, and on the other hand, WILL stomp down on men.

This fact can only lead to one conclusion: either men do not have institutional power (and as such, while discussing what they'd do with it would be a fascinating hypothetical, that's all it would be: a what if), OR they tend to use whatever institutional power they have to benefit women, OR even a combination of both (their institutional power is 1) grossly overestimated AND 2) most likely to be put to the benefit of women).

It's a simple matter of extrapolating.

If A AND B THEN C

NOT C THEN A NAND B.

Usually when they talk about "institutional power" they look at things like most CEO's or politicians being men. The problem is that this doesn't benefit the average man.

Most politicians being men doesn't change the fact that most men are screwed if they're falsely accused. Most men have no social support or legal protection if they're the victims of abuse by women. Males have no legal protection from infant genital mutilation, and males are the only ones required to register for the draft.

The most power any human being has over another is a mother over her child. The kind of power a miniscule minority of extremely rich men have doesn't at all mean society is generally run by men for men.

It's manipulation tactics.

When women say things, that make you immediately think "how in the world is that close to true", chances are that it's some form of manipulation tactic from them. It's to manipulate you to believe them.

Look up manipulation tactics. It's all there.

Shaming, blaming, accusing, gaslighting, etc. All to take the focus away from their words or actions. To put the focus onto you, and how men are wrong in everything.

Social polarization at its finest. The more fembots get together, in their echo chambers, the more women believe it. The more adamant they become, and the harder it is to convince them they've been misled.

If a man is rich, of a powefull family, have powerfull posts... Yes. If its not the case, the man in question will be poor, disrespected, stolen, work very hard, be humiliated, without oportunity... just like the rest of poor population.

I think one thing is to say women have disavantages and subrepresentation, I wouldnt disagree with this as at least in my country there is few woman in higher jobs and its a statistical fact; but another different thing, way, way different thing, is to say man are privileged, I wouldnt agree with this as the majority of man are not rich, powerfull, etc...

At least in my country the unemployement rate and emplotements that pay less than minimum wage or informal percentages of men are not too different of woman. So, I think there is a very few man in high wages and powerfull posts with even fewer woman in this placess, but the majority population both male and females are in poor and in unfair situations.

Woman are subrepresented? I would say yes. Man are privileged and powerfull? I would say no as the determinant factor here is the family wealth.

Honestly women currently have the majority of institutional power. "Believe all women", no recourse for falsely accusing of most crimes, chivalry, expected to be the provider, expected to pay for dates, more women than men in college and graduating from college, most HR people are women.

All I know is this, men (in the US) had a lot of institutional power back in the day, especially since they were the only ones who were allowed to vote. Thankfully, most of the laws that severely handicapped women in this country have been removed over the years. The only laws off the top of my head that still hurt women today are the abortion ban and (debatably) the wage gap. So yeah, in a technical sense, men have institutional power over women but it is so small that it’s almost laughable to suggest such a thing. Of course, there might be other laws out there that can be considered detrimental to women, but as far as I am aware, there’s only the abortion ban that serves as a legitimate reason. As to why people spew this rhetoric today, my best guess is that it’s either due to resentment over the past or because they want to create an “us versus them” mentality that can radicalize people behind their cause.
