Looking at the Scream sequels, it's interesting how in Scream 2, 4 and 7, the lead killer is a female who has a male accomplice. Now granted in Scream 2, Mickey did the bulk of the killing but it was Mrs. Loomis who was still the mastermind behind it all.

Female killers have been quite common in the Scream series ever since Scream 2. There's nearly as many as the male ones.

I hate that so much. It's rhetoric like this that badly costed her with male voters during the 2016 election and has also steered more males away from the Left over the past decade. Which as very strongly Left-leaning male myself, makes me cringe on all fronts. To me being liberal/left-wing means being accepting, acknowledging and inclusive of all and not only a select few. Yet to her, those things apparently are only applicable if you're female. Someone like her absolutely should not be seen as…

Regardless of context, it's still a discriminatory and exclusionary term. It's best to just retire and strike the "women and children/girls" rhetoric altogether.

It seems to any misandrist, being born male automatically means you're someone like Rambo.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates12/07/26 07:24 PM

I never even thought about that, but you're right about how it makes it seem like being female means you're disabled. It goes to show the phrase is just as misogynistic as it is misandrist.

I get what you mean and don't disagree. But given the very negative association and connotations the usage of both terms has with the Right and the harmful association male advocacy tends to have with the Right, I refrain from using either term. Male advocacy as is is unfortunately largely tainted with the association it has with the Right and as long as said harmful association continues, male advocacy won't be taken seriously nor will real progress be made on male issues.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates12/07/26 02:25 AM

Thing is in modern times the term and idealogy has been warped and corrupted to purposefully exclude men and focus largely on women only, which isn't equal or inclusive at all. But I fully agree that male rights being ignored and dismissed is a major societal injustice that needs to be addressed and rectified ASAP. To me being liberal and progressive means to acknowledge and include everybody and ensure everyone has equal and fair rights and treatment, and it's a no-brainer that includes men and…

I don't like to use the W-word due to the negative association it has with it's vast overuse by the Right (and the association male advocacy in general has with the Right is also negative and harmful in and of itself). But yes, this is a big problem as well.

That's a whole other level of screwed up that not even boys matter, anymore. So a young boy barely learning to live in the world doesn't even matter and isn't worth caring about?

I hate that, how things like DV and rape are still made out to be something only affecting women/girls, ignoring the fact many male victims and female perpetrators exist. Even if not as high in numbers, still doesn't negate the fact. Only services to women-only is blatant discrimination and further makes it that much harder for already tremendously underrepresented male victims to get help.

I didn't either, and Skeletor has always been an abusive brute, that's nothing new for him at all. If he's supposed to represent "toxic masculinity," then shouldn't Evil Lyn represent toxic femininity as well? The movie as a whole was surprisingly okay, not a classic but a harmless way to kill a Summer afternoon at the theater. The 1987 movie remains a guilty pleasure, pure cheesy 80s fun if you're in the right mood. And as someone who still digs the 1987 film, I also got a kick out of Dolph Lun…

Thing is even if male-to-female violence may be higher on average, it still doesn't change or negate the fact at all female-to-male violence still happens, and likely in much higher numbers than realized. Also keeping in mind how vastly underreported it is and how under the VAWA it's still counted as being against women, it's all the more difficult to accurately gauge. There's still a major societal shame and stigma around male victims of female offenders, and it's not helped even in instances o…

The "male violence epidemic" line is pushed partly through women who just genuinely hate men, and partly because some people are simply not that bright. Often, both. Also trying to demonize men as much as possible and link being male/masculine in anyway with automatically being violent and pre-dispositioned to bad behavior. I hate it, and so many people genuinely take it at face value.
/r/EverydayMisandry25/06/26 07:07 AM

Women commit plenty of violent acts too though just like men, which makes the notion of male violence as an "epidemic" all the more ridiculous. Either gender is capable of tremendous violence and it's not a gendered issue, but unfortunately misandrists have largely succeeded at promoting the false narrative of violence being a male trait as factual. I hate it. There's plenty of violent men and women alike in the world.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates22/06/26 06:18 AM

Apparently being born male, people automatically assume you must be an Action hero like Rambo.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates22/06/26 05:27 AM
12

Already seeing some here say the usual "men are much more violent" spiel. Ugh. I hate how it's a competition. Even if men being violent is higher on average, still doesn't change or negate the fact there's plenty of female violence against men/boys as well and much of it is underreported.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/06/26 08:00 PM
26

Except women can be just as much of a threat. Either gender is capable of causing serious harm to anyone else and to constantly dismiss and downplay instances of female-on-male violence is equally ignorant and dangerous. To say nothing of the fact that false accusations can instantly ruin any innocent man or boy's life forever beyond repair or redemption. Deflecting like this is exactly what makes it so difficult for male victims to come forward and get any sort of help or justice.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/06/26 11:31 AM
1

Thing is misandrists are the ones who enforce this narrative. It's important to make violence an un-gendered issue like they do and for their narrative to no longer be accepted as factual.
/r/MensRights21/06/26 03:55 AM
7

Also forgot to add in my original post that throwing around either term to me just goes to show how both misandry and misogyny are problematic and intertwined, and go around in circles. Throwing around stupid, derogatory terms like toxic masculinity or toxic femininity just feeds into the pointless cycle of hate and ignorance of both misandry and misogyny.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/06/26 09:58 PM
12

Exactly. Unfortunately that's what it's come to. Whenever we hear of a man who did something bad, people are quick to throw around "toxic masculinity" while never claiming "toxic femininity" when a woman does something bad. Being toxic never has anything to do with gender, it's a bad person who chose to do a bad thing. But unfortunately misandrists have largely succeeded with their narrative and people accept it as factual.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/06/26 09:51 PM
11

It's even worse when it's "women and girls." A whole other level of screwed up, cruel and plain evil when even young boys are regarded as not mattering. And we bring up boys and men also suffer female violence just like the other way around, we get the same usual tired rebuttals. It's like males lives being affected doesn't matter at all.
/r/MensRights19/06/26 08:56 AM
23

They're a sick joke of an organization. Not only do they promote clear and blatant misandry, they also exploit womens' hardships and struggles to promote their misandry. Such a sickening group.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/06/26 12:04 AM

The education and school system especially fails boys so badly. Schools are arguably the most misandrist institutions of all and only add to these problems.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/06/26 05:40 AM
15

And to think people still dismiss misandry as not being real or the male loneliness epidemic. It's this sort of thinking that only enhances misandry and the MLP. Also adding to the disproportionately high male suicide rate, which also isn't helped by failing to recognize male victims of violence, abuse, rape, homicide, etc. (especially when the offender is female).
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/06/26 05:35 AM
1

I'm so very sorry. Pisses me off when people downplay this and dismiss the existence or severity of misandry.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates07/06/26 06:09 AM
3

I hate it so much. And when we bring it up we get accused of deflecting or whataboutism when misandrists do precisely that. It's not our intent to take away from women/girls as being victims of violence, we just want it acknowledged men/boys are victims too and that women/girls are also violent just like men/boys are. I hate how it's a suppressed and taboo subject.

I hear you there. I'm happy to report though the new MOTU was thankfully devoid of any such anti-male material. Very sorry about the abuse you suffered. I hate how ignored and dismissed male abuse/violence victims still are (of both genders and especially women). I myself suffered some terrible abuse and bear trauma from my experiences.

Back then you had strong women in roles that actually felt progressive at the time. Like the first two respective Alien and Terminator movies and the many slasher films of the 80s/90s. Sadly many studios and filmmakers indeed go the "girl boss" route, which is so annoying and reeks of trying to push an agenda. The new IKWYDLS sequel from last year being an especially egregious example. I too was pleasantly surprised by the new MOTU film that it wasn't really misandrist, even if there were a coup…

Yeah, thankfully it didn't get overly misandrist though there were a couple of times it started to slightly creep into such territory before thankfully reining it in. I didn't really see how Skeletor epitomized "toxic masculinity" like the director claimed considering him being an abusive, violent brute is nothing new and in-line with his character. If he represents "toxic masculinity" then Evil-Lyn has to represent toxic femininity as well and if you're familiar with the MOTU lore, she's defini…

I saw it earlier and I too was surprised that it thankfully never really came off as misandrist, though there were a couple of times it may have treaded slightly into such territory but thankfully reined itself in before doing so (such as Orko's surprise appearance at the very end when he remarks having muscles doesn't automatically make one a man, which is a fair point). I found it had too much CGI for my liking and needed to cut back on the humor, but all in all it wasn't a terrible movie and …

Funny thing is one can easily say Evil-Lyn represents toxic femininity as well and there were a few moments she could've been seen as displaying it. Certainly in many of the cartoons and comics she does, she's every bit as bad as Skeletor is.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/06/26 02:52 AM

I saw that film and nothing about it really struck me as misandrist. How was it misandrist in your view? I'm hard-pressed to imagine being much worse than last year's IKWYDLS.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates06/06/26 02:51 AM

The 1980 Flash Gordon movie is cheesy fun. Very much feels like a live-action pulp Sci-Fi comic from the 30s/40s/50s in movie form. People are saying the new MOTU is similar. I'm just glad to hear that nothing blatantly misandrist is actually shown or mentioned in the new MOTU. Skeletor's always been evil but masculinity has nothing to do with that, he simply chooses to be evil and oppress those who oppose him. Something he's always done as far back as the original 1983 animated series.

It's just so tiresome and infuriating. Having misandry creep into entertainment, when you watch films or TV series to be just that, be entertained. You want to forget about things in the real world that upset you and just be entertained. It's like even in entertainment people can't resist the urge to inject political material and take potshots at men. Between the IKWYDLS sequel from last year and the first M3GAN film, a film I mostly did in fact like but hated the moment where the title villain …

Ugh, the "women and children" rhetoric. Tired of that, though it's never been uncommon in entertainment. There was even a similar bit of dialogue in the excellent Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes, when Koba is telling his apes to protect the females and young before their anti-human siege. It's good to hear though it didn't try to push anything misandrist. I've heard people saying it's comparable to the 1980 Flash Gordon movie, which I've always liked, so if it's anything like that it should be si…

I get that men have a tendency to be stronger, but it doesn't make their lives any less valuable or not worth protecting. Being an adult male doesn't automatically mean you're an indestructible superhero who's impervious to all forms of harm and danger. Men are just as vulnerable and deserve to have their rights and safety prioritized just as much. It may not be the intention to de-value male lives when using a narrative like "women and children" but that's very much how it comes off. It's a nar…

I still find "women and children" to be inherently problematic since it excludes and de-values male lives and also infantalizes women as incapable of defending themselves. That phrase by itself was bad enough but "women and girls" makes it even worse by implying not even the lives and safety of boys matters.
/r/MensRights31/05/26 08:47 PM

I meant in the context it's used in, like "male violence against women/girls." When ignoring the fact there's also female violence against men/boys and it's higher than many realize or want to admit. Violence against both by both is something that happens.

It doesn't help that Hillary never took the time to address issues affecting men and boys, and has never really advocated for them. Let's not forget her speech where she claimed women were the primary victims of war, which certainly did her no favors in 2016 with male voters. I'm very liberal with most of my views, but it's so cringey when people associate being as such with being like someone like her. I've also said before numerous times how with my views I'm mostly very liberal and left-leaning, and am right-wing on next to nothing and the liberal views I hold would give any MAGA person an aneurysm. But unfortunately there's the association and stigma that being liberal or left-wing in any way translates to hating men/boys, never wanting to address their issues and caring only for women/girls. Classic misandrist warping and distortion. All we want to do is for men/boys to also be acknowledged as victims and to be sympathized with and helped just as much, and that their deaths are just as tragic and unfortunate as women/girls. But of course misandrists intentionally look the other way.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/05/26 10:29 AM

There's definitely far more non-combatant men, and more women these days are in combatant roles as well. Civilian men being non-combatants doesn't make their deaths any less terrible and tragic. The UN definitely promotes the "women and girls" rhetoric. Such a joke of an "organization" and they don't even bother hiding their blatant misandry.

I get the ad isn't intended to be anything offensive or distasteful. It's just that it very much comes off that way because the scenario being depicted while lighthearted in the context of the ad is basically that of FTM rape/SA. Which certainly isn't a lighthearted or humorous subject at all and it's definitely triggering to see as someone who experienced mistreatment at the hands of female abusers whenever it's made light of.
/r/MensRights16/05/26 03:40 AM

That's just it; the genders being reversed here and there'd be a huge outcry. It shows the double standards and how it's still a tremendous problem how male rape/SA is still not taken seriously and treated as a joke. Which as dumb as this ad may be makes it sinister in a way, to treat something as horrific as rape/SA and make light of it.

I remember seeing that ad in gaming magazines I read back in the mid-2000s. Even at the time as a teen seeing that I found that pretty appalling. Making light of female-on-male rape/sexual assault like that and treating it as a joke. Even in that ad the boy there is clearly terrified and trying to get away. Just imagine the absolute uproar if the genders were reversed and it was a bunch of guys over a woman there, and the ensuing controversy from that. I recall they had other ads like this but t…

Exactly! It's also not a liberal way of thinking to exclude any group. Male lives matter as much as those of women and children. Men also make up many non-combatants as well. The vast majority of men are. When they die during things like wars, bombings, genocides, natural disasters, etc. it's like their deaths are trivial. That may not be the intent but that's how it comes off.

Felt the progress flair was appropriate for this but if the moderators feel different they can re-flair it. I felt it counted as progress for this saying to be called out for being blatantly sexist. Good article that's well worth a read. What's refreshing is that it was a woman calling out and criticizing this phrase, and she's right on the money. I've ranted many times before how I've never liked this phrase for clearly being sexist to men and exclusionary of them. The notion that men make up t…

I actually agree with this. Why even make violence a gendered issue when anyone can be a victim or offender? Males and females alike are both capable of horrendous violence against each other and commit them in high numbers. Even if female to male instances aren't as high, doesn't negate the fact it still happens and is just as wrong. But misandrists have warped things to the point they've made violence into a gendered issue and have made it as such that if a man is violent to any women or girls…

That's horrible. To think this would've been long before the "believe women" narrative became enforced in society, which to be frank was likely always there but it's gotten even worse now over the past decade or so. Never ceases to amaze me even when there's evidence right before your eyes of a man/boy being a victim of violence at the hands of a female attacker, society still comes to the aid of the attacker. And we can never bring this up without being accused of being misogynists, taking away…

It's not rare at all and also very underreported.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates24/03/26 03:16 AM

Women commit plenty of them too, even if not in as high a number. It's unacceptable and intolerable either way and shouldn't be a gendered issue.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates23/03/26 08:52 AM

And unfortunately their narrative is largely accepted as factual and people make the mistake of associating it with any sort of liberal or leftist thinking. I'm mostly very liberal as I said, and I not only hate misandry and how male issues are constantly ignored and dismissed, but how people associate being liberal in anyway with hating men and not wanting to help them. It's a big reason 2024 was a total disaster for the Left with males.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates20/03/26 04:12 AM
17

I also want to add to this I also equally hate the equally stupid and misandrist image that has "Boys will be boys" with "be boys" crossed out with "be held accountable for their actions." Shouldn't accountability also equally apply to women and girls who do wrong and need to be taught the error of their ways? It's just another way of linking being male and masculine with being pre-dispositioned to bad behavior. I hate it so much.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/03/26 10:47 PM

I was just simply mentioning as such. Misandrists always feel the need to make things like violence into a gendered issue and who has it worse. They always feel like mentioning male victims/female perps of violence is somehow taking away from male-on-female instances when it isn't. Anyone can be both a victim or perpetrator of violence regardless of gender, but misandrists unfortunately have largely succeeded in promoting their narrative as factual. Which is something that needs to change ASAP.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates07/03/26 12:50 AM

Also acknowledging that men/boys are absolutely also victims of abuse, violence, rape, sexual assault/harassment, etc. by both male and female offenders alike. But somehow acknowledging female-to-male instances of these crimes remains a taboo subject when it shouldn't be. It's common sense anyone regardless of gender can be a victim or offender, but to rabid misandrists and misogynists alike, everything to them is a gender war. It's very frustrating and accomplishes absolutely nothing.

So much of this post resonates so strongly with me. It also highlights just how harmful both sides can really be to men and male issues. While certainly there's a very misandrist sect of the Left that unfortunately has become the most mainstream and vocal of it and is a major reason the Left lately has done so poorly with many male voters, I find the Right is strangely misandrist in it's own way and does nothing to bring major attention to serious issues affecting men/boys. And furthermore how t…

Absolutely. Both genders kill each other and both commit terrible crimes against each other. I hate when misandrists try to make it a competition as to who does it more statisically, it shouldn't be a contest. One having a higher percentage doesn't mitigate or negate the other at all. Same with suicides, both genders do so and that's also a problem needing fixing on both sides.

Saw this stupid image on a recent Twitter/X post. I hate this. Sorry but anyone being attacked regardless of genders has the right to take a stand and defend themselves. A man/boy being attacked by a woman/girl has every right to do the same as much as the other way around. And especially what if said female attacker has a weapon and is not only attacking me but even outright trying to kill me? Or someone else? Just stand there and let the violence happen? Between this and also the narrative of "male violence against women/girls." Which I don't deny happens and is serious, but so is female violence against men/boys. Both forms of violence are equally problematic and abhorrent, but the failure to acknowledge and address the latter is a major problem.

Still can't be ignored or disregarded that women can also be violent to men/boys as well, much like the other way around. So sorry this happened. It pisses me off so much how female violence against men/boys is dismissed. Truthfully, I hate how violence is often made into a gender issue when anyone can be a victim of it regardless and anyone is capable of committing horrific violence against anyone no matter. But misandrists have unfortunately succeeded at promoting their narrative as factual.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates24/10/25 07:59 AM

That's indeed it. Which due to it's massive overuse by the Right and the very negative connotations and association criticisms of the term now has with the Right, is why I'm opting to not use it.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates24/10/25 02:09 AM

And the fact it continues to be massively downplayed, trivialized and sometimes even outright ignored that men/boys can be and are also victims of female violence and in much higher numbers than believed, reported or realized; which in turn later in life can definitely develop into a very dangerous hatred of women for these victimized boys who don't get help. A prime example of how both misandry and misogyny feed off of each other and are both problematic in their own way.

Except maybe for the fact the subject of DV is always male on female either when it's discussed in real-life or depicted in entertainment, and the author didn't bother having any resources for real-life male DV victims at the end; further making it difficult for male victims to get help and bring attention to the fact female on male DV also occurs. Let's not forget how any and all violence against men still gets counted as being against women, which will of course disproportionately skew the statistics. Then the numbers of male victims too ashamed or afraid to come forward out of fear of being disbelieved or falsely accused added to that.
/r/MensRights21/08/25 05:04 AM

Same. This is what real gender equality is, both sticking up for each other and recognizing the struggles and hardships the other is facing and trying to rectify it. Far too much of the time, struggles and hardships facing men/boys is ignored.

Flaired this as progress as I feel it counts whenever the "women and children" phrase gets called out for being blatantly sexist and exclusionary. What's striking about this article is that it was written by a woman, and it's always refreshing and uplifting to see women calling out misandry and unfair treatment of men/boys. This is true gender equality.

Men in real-life aren't invincible superheroes and are just as vulnerable and frail as women are. But we bring this up we'll get the usual misandrist rebuttals of "But you're not in fear of your life and safety like women are" or "This is like saying all lives matter." Ugh. So true. These so-called "progressives" are what are driving more and more men to the Right and they're actually purging the liberal aspects of the Left out. Pandering only to women and constantly excluding men and never bringing attention to their inequalities and needs, is the exact opposite of what being liberal is.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates07/03/25 08:52 PM

Oh yes, one of the worst examples. And it's made it incredibly difficult for male victims of female violence/abuse to get any sort of help. Sad and disgusting how misandrists had to make domestic violence a gendered issue when both men and women are victims and perps in high numbers. Male victims deserve just as much help as female ones and female perps deserve just as harsh punishment as male ones. But with the Duluth Model, this never happens.
/r/EverydayMisandry20/02/25 04:25 PM

Exactly, but misandrists have warped the narrative to that men and boys don't matter. That has to change.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates29/12/24 01:39 AM

I always take statistics with a grain of salt as they don't account for every single incident, and statistics can also be warped and manipulated. Not to mention that under the VAWA any type of violence against men and boys is still counted as being against women, which further skews and distorts things. Regardless of which group does what to who more, it doesn't negate that both ultimately can be perps and victims.

The problem is it's statistically correct, but the implications they're drawing are wrong. Another problem is how massively underreported it is. This isn't an issue of female evil, but of lack of empathy for men's problems. But women can be just as evil as men. As I said in a prior post here, acknowledging men can be and are just as vulnerable as women, and they have just as much of a right to safety. And also that there's violent and predatory women out there just like men, and to always be wary of your surroundings and the people in them. Anyone is capable of horrific violence.

Absolutely. Regardless of the attacker's gender, both men and women alike being attacked have the right to defend themselves.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates13/12/24 08:45 PM

That reinforces the falsehood that men are naturally able to defend themselves from attackers and aren't nearly as vulnerable and thus not worth taking their safety into account. It's long overdue for it to be acknowledged men can be just as vulnerable to harm. My family is all-around pretty liberal. People on both sides of the spectrum will always be quick to label and judge without getting the facts straight, but all you can do as an individual is stand up for yourself.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/11/24 04:20 PM
4

Hardcore right-wingers are usually the ones quick to label you as such if you say you're in anyway liberal. I guess my definition of being "opposed to woke" would mean anything discriminating against men. So in that regards I'm opposed to it, but when you say so, people automatically label you a right-winger and make all sorts of assumptions.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/11/24 03:58 PM
4

Precisely. Anytime "woke" is used and you claim you're against it, people are automatically quick to assume you're a major right-winger, largely due to the association it's had. And people are always going to be quick to make assumptions and jump to conclusions, rather than taking the time to understand and get the facts straight. For that reason, I rarely if ever use the term.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/11/24 03:56 PM

So I guess you're okay with misandry and violence against men being promoted, two things this people clearly celebrates and glorifies.

Much like with rape and domestic violence/abuse, male trafficking victims are likely very underreported as well and thus the numbers for them are likely much higher than believed.

Thanks for this information. Unfortunately misandrists will always see to it this doesn't get the attention it should, but they can't keep the truth buried forever.

Sad but so very true, and with the "children" part you know it really refers mainly to girls. How screwed up that boys are basically told from a young age they don't matter and once they become adults they become cannon fodder nobody cares about.

No, I was just citing it as an example that it's just as sexist a slogan.

I have nothing against a woman as president or another similar position as long as she's qualified, reliable and the best candidate of the current selection. But wanting a woman just to have a woman is ridiculous to me and I feel the about wanting a man just to have a man. Qualificaions and merit are what matter, not gender. And to me there's nothing political about that, it's just common sense.

I give you credit that you acknowledge the existence of misandry. It's definitely real and a much bigger, more invasive problem than many want to admit. Misandry and misogyny both exist and both are unacceptable, but misandrists have seen to it misandry is never given any sort of attention other than to be laughed at.
/r/MensRights17/09/24 11:29 AM

Maybe "mostly male?" Something that isn't given such an ominous, negative tone.
/r/EverydayMisandry17/09/24 02:24 AM

But people being abusive to each other goes both ways and that's what's being criticized. A woman striking an innocent man is just as much of a coward as a man who strikes an innocent woman, why isn't this meme also acknowledging that? As usual, being so one-sided? And not acknowledging the fact that both men and women being attacked by anyone regardless of gender have the right to defend themselves? I said "utter nonsense" because the notion you're not being a "real man" even in a self-defense …
/r/MensRights16/09/24 06:16 AM
5

Of course I don't condone DV of any sort. If I wasn't clearer, DV and self-defense are two completely different things and the distinction needs to be clear. A man defending himself against a female aggressor isn't being cowardly. DV goes both ways for both men and women, both are victims and perpetraters of it. Thing is this image makes a vast generalization and doesn't seperate self-defense from DV, and as usual enforces the notion DV is purely male on female only. As well as absolving female …

I hate the notion that men should never strike back against a female attacker due to size and strength differences. Well a Sydney Funnel Web is also smaller than me yet can kill me or seriously harm me with it's venom, by that logic, I shouldn't kill it if I find one crawling on me and should just let it bite me? Anyone is capable of harm no matter their gender or size.
/r/MensRights16/09/24 03:36 AM
26

Especially unfortunately true in schools where female bullies get away with bullying and outright harming male students and yet when the bullied boy stands up to her he's automatically jumped on even though all he did was defend himself. Sickening.
/r/MensRights16/09/24 02:36 AM
24

Found this and it made me so angry. I made a similar post recently but seeing this, am I ever mad seeing this. This goes both ways, for both men and women alike. Any man or woman who raises their hand to an innocent, undeserving person who did nothing to deserve it is a coward and ceases to be either a real man or woman. But as usual, this is only applicable to men being violent to women and not the other way around. So I guess to idiots who share this image and agree with it, a man who acts in …

Definitely feels like progress is being made. Not taking away from the frightening reality of women and girls being trafficked, but it's massively overlooked that men and boys are also trafficked and women are traffickers as well. Trafficking is reprehensible no matter the genders of the victims or perpetraters. Male trafficking victims deserve as much help and support as female ones, and female traffickers should be punished just as harshly as male ones.
/r/MensRights26/08/24 05:31 AM
2

No I haven't and to be honest, why should I? Pandering to a particular demographic is never a good idea and certainly not equal or inclusive.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/08/24 06:59 PM
1

We'll just have to agree to disagree. This doesn't seem like something that's equal to me.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/08/24 06:23 PM
3

I get what you're saying but still feel it's exclusionary to only have programs helping women and especially when there's men who also need such benefits.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/08/24 04:12 AM
8

But don't men also deserve support in getting the careers they want and getting benefits? Even if BOA isn't intentionally excluding them, it very much comes off that way.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/08/24 07:12 PM
2

I didn't get a chance to but if you want to see it for yourself, it's on the newest issue of Diversity Magazine. I believe it's the August 2024 issue.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/08/24 06:28 PM
11

But excluding men when they also need help and representation arguably would be. Why this would even be made into a gendered issue is asinine to me. A business should be able to help everyone of every demographic.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates16/08/24 06:27 PM
4

It's especially worth celebrating with how vastly overlooked and underreported (even outright ignored) female on male trafficking is. It feels like this is finally shining a much-needed light on that issue.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/08/24 10:51 PM
9

I think it feels like progress since too often it's forgotten and outright ignored that many male victims of trafficking also exist and there's also women who are traffickers. And yes, numerous female rapists just like male ones.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/08/24 05:23 AM
51

Finally. Not to take away from the frightening reality that many women and girls are also trafficked, but we can't forget that plenty of female traffickers also exist and that anyone regardless of gender can be trafficked. Plenty of men and boys also are just like women and girls, and it's long overdue this gets attention. These women are as vile as men who traffick people. Female traffickers is another majorly overlooked issue (especially in regards to men and boys also being trafficked by them…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates10/08/24 12:42 AM
18

Thing is it's always only the women and girls who are raped and murdered who get any sort of attention. Even though men and boys absolutely also are victims of these as well. There's both male and female terrorists and soldiers under oppressive regimes who engage in terrible crimes against men, women and children alike. It isn't to take away from female victims affected, just to also acknowledge plenty of males also suffer and for them to not be excluded.
/r/MensRights09/08/24 12:31 AM
1

It wasn't even someone I was following, it was someone quoting another. Which I hate when they do, it's giving a platform and voice to these idiots and their ignorance.
/r/MensRights08/08/24 03:57 AM
1

I was merely pointing out how men continue to be excluded and have their welfare ignored and how certain things are pointlessly made into a gendered issue.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates04/07/24 02:52 PM
2

They deliberately see to it male victims of anything never matter, but especially when they're victims of women.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates30/06/24 04:41 AM
3

They intentionally ignore and overlook the fact there's plenty of female on male instances of trafficking but as always only give attention and action to the other way around, when trafficking in all of it's forms should be fought against. They've shown time and time again to not care for male victims of anything.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates30/06/24 01:45 AM
17

And leave it to misandrists to make it precisely that, gendered and doing what they can to ignore the fact male victims and female traffickers exist.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/06/24 06:09 PM
4

It's not worth the time and energy trying to reason with clearly unreasonable people like them.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/06/24 04:39 AM
9

Oh do not even get me started on that. It's even worse when they'll acknowledge it being real but will stay claim it's not nearly as big a problem, even with vast evidence right before their eyes. You just can't convince some people there's a fire even when they're ablaze and being burnt to a crisp.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates31/05/24 07:28 PM
17

Not to mention society still failing to acknowledge that female on male violence, abuse, rape, homicide, etc. all occur at much higher rates than many realize or want to admit to, and yet misandrists always massively downplay or trivialize it. FOM violence or crimes of any sort are every bit as horrible as the other way around but misandrists have made it as such that it's not an issue. Makes me sick.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates31/05/24 06:56 PM
17

Both need to be equally wary, anyone can harm you no matter the gender. Both genders can do horrible things to each other but as usual women who do wrong are absolved of any accountability. It's so tiresome and infuriating.
/r/MensRights13/04/24 04:09 AM
30

Which is ridiculous, because at the end of the day there's always danger and risk whenever you head out and it can be from anyone. It's just another way of demonizing men and boys, and trying to link bad behavior with being male.
/r/MensRights13/04/24 03:53 AM
3

That's good to hear, considering there's very few clinics and shelters and such that help men and boys. It's good these former child soldiers at least have some resources, and one can only hope they aren't beyond helping with the PTSD they no doubt regularly live with.
/r/MensRights08/04/24 07:44 AM
6

You're right, thanks for pointing that out. Now to correct it.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates02/04/24 01:46 PM
2

The fact it's so socially acceptable is just infuriating. Not since the Nazi regime's demonization of Jewish people has there been such an obvious and blatant attempt to demonize an entire demographic of people and make them hated and scorned.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/04/24 07:49 AM
2

Thing is to misandrists, this simple concept doesn't even register with them; they think being male automatically equates to being a bad person who's out to harm women and it's somehow something that needs to be corrected. I'm so fed up with this and how this narrative has become so entrenched in society.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates01/04/24 07:08 AM
6

And if you bring it up, no doubt she'll use the usual retorts of "Stop silencing women" or "Nowhere near the same scale" or "Why do you always bring this up only when it's about women?" Maybe because sexual harassment/assault are always made out to be something only men do to women, when both genders do it to each other in high numbers yet it's always neglected? Then again logic and intelligence don't register with these people.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates26/03/24 12:50 AM
7

And I bet she didn't take the time to acknowledge women sexually harass men as well. Always making this out to be something only men do to women. Both men and women do it to each other and it's unacceptable either way.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/03/24 11:46 PM
3

Unfortunately misandrists warp it to be just that. They instantly make any instance of male on female violence to be that it was because of gender. And they never take the time to single out instances of violence committed out of genuine malice and ill will from that done in self-defense.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates18/03/24 04:52 AM
6

Amazing how they're always full of excuses for female abusers and aggressors, even when they're guilty as sin. Heard could firebomb a nursery full of newborns and her supporters will still stand by her and defend her.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/03/24 11:31 PM
3

Especially when people from said groups are willfully ignorant to the fact plenty of terrible people from their particular demographic also exist.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/03/24 08:17 PM
3

Which sadly both misandrists and white supremacists do. It's frightening how similar the two groups and their idealogies are.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/03/24 07:44 PM
3

I get what you're saying. We still need to be careful to not negate the fact both men and women can be victims and aggressors. Even if women are more likely to be murdered by their male partners, the other way around absolutely can still happen and does. It may not occur as often, but it doesn't negate it. And considering under the VAWA any type of violence against men is still counted as being against women, it makes it all the more difficult to accurately gauge and record male victims. Any typ…

It says a lot about misandrists that they're still siding with Heard and are genuinely convinced she's a victim, with all of the evidence against her and her even admitting to it.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/03/24 06:58 PM
6

It unfortunately is almost always used in a sexist way, only used for women who are victims of male violence and never the other way around, despite it also occuring frequently. It's an intentionally divisive ploy by misandrists to divert and deflect attention away from male issues.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates17/03/24 06:26 PM
8

The Johnny Depp/Amber Heard case brought some much-needed attention to the issue, even with misandrists and Heard supporters trying to insist it was an "isolated incident" and people shouldn't think it was the norm.

My apologies for not clarifying what I meant.

Because of all the garbage I see elsewhere about people saying it's not. A falsehood that keeps getting spread, promoted and enforced as the truth when it's not.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates09/03/24 04:56 AM
4

That reminds me, how men are said to be more violent even though women are also capable of being extremely violent and brutal as well. Many innocent men and boys, and even women and girls, have been victims of violent women. But as usual with misandrists, they always like to brush this aside or even ignore it to push their agenda. They exploit female victims to enforce their "men are predators and women their prey" agenda. It's disgusting, how they want to vilify all men as being naturally viole…

I don't think I could muster up wanting to look at anymore work she's done. I wouldn't be shocked if she's another who promotes gender discrimination in the name of "equality" and her body of work consists of it.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/02/24 08:56 PM
5

I hate that so much. This ridiculous mentality is unfortunately rampant all over social media and especially here on Reddit. Which unfortunately has become increasingly misandrist. Of course no calls for women to do better whenever it's a man or boy harmed by a woman. Which to be fair, let's not sink to the level of misandrists and condemn an entire gender for the actions of one bad individual; hold the individuals in question accountable.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/02/24 05:09 PM
3

Why even make this incident a gender issue in the first place? It's ridiculous to make it all about gender.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/02/24 11:33 PM
4

It's ridiculous to even make an incident like the Beirut port explosion a gender issue. Like only women were being targeted. I think this author should have her works boycotted since she's pretty much promoting gender discrimination.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/02/24 04:08 PM
11

Indeed. It goes to show how both misandry and misogyny basically fuel each other.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/02/24 04:03 PM
7

It's bad enough it's done to men, but to do it to boys as well, and basically send them the message that due to their gender they basically don't matter? Truly revolting.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates21/02/24 04:02 PM
5

But "male-dominated" is always given a highly negative connotation to it. Like men being in anything is somehow a negative, and men are also intentionally keeping women out of certain jobs and fields and such. "Male domination" as typically defined is not something I think truly exists, in the sense men in positions of power conspire to keep women out.
/r/MensRights01/02/24 04:14 PM

I think the instant anyone invokes it or blames their failures and problems on it or even blames men's problems for it, they immediately cease being someone with any integrity or credability.

Honestly, the existence of things like aliens and the Yeti are far more believable to me than nonsense like the patriarchy and the Illuminati.
/r/MensRights31/01/24 04:07 PM

It's mind-blowing to me how an adult who should be fully rational can not believe in such a BS concept but go so far as to blame their own failures and shortcomings on it and all that's wrong in the world on it. It's just a means of shifting responsibility and blame when it falls on them.
/r/MensRights31/01/24 03:59 PM
3

It'd be more stupid than anything, promoting a baseless and unfounded conspiracy theory like that. I don't believe for one second it's a real thing and I'd never want to give it any sort of credence.
/r/MensRights31/01/24 03:55 PM

Indeed it is, which makes it and it's usage all the more despicable.
/r/MensRights31/01/24 07:10 AM

I still think the way she worded it as "hideous men" was wrong. Why emphasize that they're men? Gender has nothing to do with being a terrible person, but misandrists time and time again have distorted it as such to be that if you're male than that's precisely what you are. It's such a tiresome narrative.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates28/01/24 03:44 AM

Also forgot to say before, with MVAW always being documented, the statistics never distinquish violence done in self-defense compared with violence done out of genuine malice and ill will. Many men absolutely act in self-defense when being attacked by anyone no matter the attacker's gender and women definitely initiate violence much of the time. But unfortunately even in cases where a man is defending himself against a female assailant, he still gets criticized and punished for it and the female…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates26/01/24 02:44 AM

Yes but it still doesn't take away from the fact women do these as well. Regardless of who does it more or less, murders are something both genders commit and it's terrible regardless. To me comparing male and female killers and the rates at which they kill is akin to comparing diseases; you may have a slightly lesser chance of dying from a particular one compared to others, but it can still happen.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates26/01/24 02:41 AM

Let's not forget how badly boys do in schools and comprise the vast majority of dropouts, and constant failure to acknowledge men and boys are also victims of domestic violence/abuse, rape, homicide, trafficking, etc. especially by female offenders.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/01/24 04:21 PM

Thanks, glad you liked my post. It's so tiresome for things constantly being blamed on men. Good and bad exists in every group, and men and women are no different, but misandrists have such a narrow-minded view and believe everything is to blame on men. I've always likened them to white supremacists who always demonize and vilify non-white and Jewish people and blame them for everything wrong in the world, all the while being willfully ignorant to the fact plenty of terrible white and non-Jewish…
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/01/24 04:11 PM

Doesn't make it any less terrible whenever they commit crimes and harm innocent people of any demographic.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates25/01/24 12:42 AM
6

Also forgot to mention before how under the VAWA, any type of violence committed against men is still counted as being against women. So of course this makes VAW seem disproportionately high, when it really isn't. Men and boys are also victims of violence by women just as much as the other way around and many innocent women and girls have also been victims of violence by women. But as always, misandrists sweep this under the rug and treat it as a non-issue when it very much is.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates24/01/24 05:57 PM

As I said in a prior post, it's difficult to accurately gauge male rape victims due to how vastly underreported female on male rape is. Some countries don't even recognize FOM rape, which gives male victims of it that much less of a voice. Societal stigma on the issue had made it even harder for male victims to speak up, and thanks to the mantra of "believe women" a woman who violated a man or boy can always say the male acted on her first and she'll automatically be sided with no matter what. M…

I get what you mean. I wish the whole "this group does this to that more" would just stop; it's a plain fact both men and women commit terrible crimes against each other, and it isn't any less devastating when it happens to either or.
/r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates24/01/24 08:58 AM
24

Just because one group may be victims of particular crimes more doesn't negate or override the fact it happens to others. I'm not denying women tend to be more prone to being victims of things like rape, but too often the issue is made much too one-sided and it's easily forgotten that male victims of female rapists exist as well, and in significant numbers. Regardless of who experiences what more, it isn't any less devastating. A man or boy raped by a woman is just as valid as a woman or girl wh…
