I lived there for a few years and trust me it's the most sex equal country I've ever been to.

As a western man you don't have to fear accusations in that regard. Because it would mean the woman would have either broken a law as well, you're officially not allowed sex outside of marriage nor are you officially allowed to book a hotel room to have sex with someone if you aren't married (lots is possible behind closed doors just don't ge vocal about it). So if she wants to accuse you she would admit to willingly joining you to a hotel room which is not something a women would want to do either. Out in public rape is not going to happen and neither are you going to be accused of it as a western men or as a local.

Like the country is special not comparable to Saudi nor Qatar, but definitely still Islamic definitely for the view towards other countries.

However I've never as a man felt that there was sexism nor have any of my male nor female friends felt any of the sort there. Just a bit too authoritarian for me personally but at least certain things are obvious (instead of sneaky BS).

Im gonna speak as someone who has lived in two of the neighbouring countries to UAE, and Ive been dragged through the sharia law system in one of them( wouldn't recommend it to anyone)

the issue is sharia law, whereby making false rape charges is very serious.

this is where the feminists get all upset because rape was one of several(?) laws in which the woman had to have several witnesses compared to one man( the old man words worth that of several women),. the simple matter of it was because the penalty for rape was death. So if it turned out to be false and the accused is already executed, there has to be serious repercussion.I dont know if capital punishment is still the case today though and they do have rape kits for anyone who makes a claim in order to verify without the he said, she said dilemma. Sharia law has a problem with reform as the religion of Islam is supposed to be pre destined( eg its knows everything that is going to happen and therefore doesnt require change)

There are a number of cases in which rape accusation have been used by women in order to avoid the penalty for adultry.there was a case a few years ago of woman having an affair with a married man and he was murdered in her presence by an assailant believed to be her new boyfriend who was seen leaving the scene( which she initially denied). she claimed he had just raped her. only problem was the knife was stuck in his back whilst he was prone in the praying position on his prayer mat...

she was advised to just name the person who did the murder otherwise she would be fully and legally culpable. she refused and her lawyer then turned to western feminists to ramp up a campaign claiming oppression of women.

being sent to prison is for knowingly lying to the court especially in serious cases such as DV or murder etc. However, I know from experience that a woman can lie about DV and not be punished in the family court( that's where there is an overabundance of "equality". Islam doesnt really accept equality, rather that men and women have different rights and needs but equality is framed as "fairness" or as we sometimes discover whenever western organisations( and govt) are putting pressure on these countries to reform in favour of one gender over the other.

UAE is not really equal anymore than this neighbours or western societies...

DV in muslim/Islamic states by women against their male partners is the dirty hidden secret that western countries dont want to acknowledge is happening because it throws out their VAWG narrative.

sorry for the long rant. living in the middle east was good apart from the abuse and violence( really bad for muslim men) which looks like it hasnt changed

Karen struaghan has already written about the issue of sharia in middle east and its impact on muslim men( i think someone has recent put up a post linking back to her thread about it)

You have to be wary of claims about countries being "most egalitarian" or "most gender equal". The statistics used are usually skewed to whatever the organisation promoting them wants people to believe. For examples: is it more egalitarian to have a high tax and state-funded society, or more egalitarian to have everyone paid the same and have to live with it; is eqaulity only defined by female disadvantage, or by disadvantages experienced by both sexes?

For some understanding of the GGGR, as an example, I recommend this article on The Illustrated Empathy Gap, which also exaplains about the BIGI, which is still, as far as I know, the only sex-equality gauge that is in any way accurate, though it is not comprehensive.

I don’t have any experience there, so obviously I can’t really make any bold claims about the UAE, but I just personally would want to avoid that place and most places in the Middle East simply because the racial and religious issues scare me.

Good for them if they have gender equality in a true sense, but there are other kinds of inequalities and exploitation going on that would make me hesitant to want to visit or endorse them.

I'd agree in literally almost any other country, but this could easily be a mechanism for simply silencing legitimate rape accusations.
