I don't visit this sub very often because talking about men's issues always depresses me and leads me to distance myself from gender politics. However, reading posts like this and the comments of fellow men makes me feel home in a world where I almost never have the feeling of belonging. I turned 30 a few days ago, work in an unfulfilling job, have no friends, no girlfiend and no ambition as I see no future for me. Reading this post and these comments somehow felt like sitting around a fireplace with like-minded people, I don't know. Haven't had this feeling for a long while. Thank you.

I'm an independent who formerly identified as a democrat, and I can tell you this is a big reason they lost the popular vote. Identity politics and intersectionality was their undoing. They allowed the fringe, if not femcel/misandric voices to take over their platform and shame anyone who didn't subscribe to their cult. They lost the working class, a good portion of minorities, men and so fourth. I don't think they'll gain it back until they go the populist route and start addressing men's issues. Unfortunately, you're in a bubble and a massive cult. Not everyone thinks like them and they will continue losing elections until they treat men like human beings.

I'm a Democrat, gay guy. Standing up for what is fair isn't about being right or left. It's just fair. I'm not "anti" anybody. I just think some in the women's equality movement have taken things too far and the tone is increasingly becoming one in which all men are always wrong.

There’s a subreddit called r/LeftWingMaleAdvocates. It’s like r/MensRights but from a more left-leaning perspective. Sometimes Reddit surprises me with a recommendation and this one popped up one day. I have a feeling that a lot of liberal or democratic men feel the same as you and are on that particular subreddit.

I don’t know if this subreddit (r/MensRights) is left-leaning, centrist, conservative or just in general about men’s issues.

But as far as I’m aware, if you want to discuss Men’s Rights, everyone is welcome here as long as they abide by this subreddit’s rules.

We have a running joke that those men that shout the loudest about being feminists turn out to be hiding being huge pieces of shit.

Many if not most of the users who you think are conservative, are probably actually just vocally anti-leftist which isn't the same thing. And that's for a very good reason, when you consider how many leftists are misandrists who support flagrant discrimination against men.

Most people here understand that both traditionalists or feminists can and will hurt men and boys. Traditionalists have zero qualms with using men to maintain their precious "civilization" no matter what the cost is to men and boys. A great example came from the US last year, when the Republican Party voted to keep conscription male-only. I wouldn't blame any americans for still voting against the Democrat Party though, because their party platform literally says they "serve" women but not men!

Mens Rights does not neatly fit in the left-right paradigm, and has had people of all stripes contributing towards it. However, the Left is much more intolerant of dissent than the Right is, and so the ground has been ceded to the Right. This process is responsible for why the New Right is filled with ex liberals. Any singular disagreement with leftists gets you excommunicated on the spot, no matter what subject and no matter how level-headed and fact-based the reasoning for the dissenting view is.

Vote how you want, but stand up for what you believe in to be right. It's called integrity. More people need it.

Speak out about things you think are wrong. It's called conversation, and it's important because when people stop talking about things, violence happens. People need to stop censoring speech.

And don't force others to agree with you. Agreeing to disagree is fine. You go your separate ways and live your separate lives. It's called honor, and basically, no one has it anymore.

Im not a liberal or a conservative. Im a realistic. Before anti-family courts destroyed my life, I was a liberal. I believed in equality, social justice, and rights for everyone. It took getting married and being destroyed by the feminists in anti-family courts that changed my entire perspective. I realized I had no rights to absolutely nothing. That at any given. Moment a woman can say anything against me, and I'm the guilty one.

I think a lot of us here are ok with women. We want the same rights, same equality, & no special rights or privileges for anyone.

Id ask that you go spend a few hours in an anti-family courtroom. You'll see men's lives destroyed with lies, greed, hostility, and hatred. We all have a right to our own political views, but it was those liberal policies I once supported that destroyed my life because they told me I was equal when I really wasn't.

I'm also quite liberal and often disbelieve in the seriousness of women's issues because I've never been even close to experiencing or witnessing anything bad, as a woman myself. But in the past few years I've been more open to believing that something's up with the way women are treated in some developed countries (it's obvious that it happens in the undeveloped/developing ones). But that doesn't mean men have it all good or that it's justified to be prejudiced against them all. I'm capable of checking my privilege whenever there's a discussion of a double standard that disadvantages men.

That's when I find my own unconscious biases. I think those are the root that's the hardest to eradicate in society, going both ways. Some people of each gender will for a long time think something wrong about the other gender, even after we achieve full equality on paper, and it's so hard to notice and get to the bottom of.

But as long as I want gender to not be a factor in how people are treated, I'm definitely liberal, even if one group has "representatives" that get mad that I'm trying to side with the other at the same time as with them. You're describing views that are quite different from mine, but I get you, I used to have them not that long ago. I'm quite new to actually noticing and caring about women's issues (pls don't bite, it didn't change my care about men's issues).

First I’d like to say, you are far too concerned with the opinions of others on you and who you are as a person. I am not saying be aloof and ignore others in the social world, but your issues of “please don’t bully me for my beliefs” would be patched up along with the crux of your post by just securing yourself a bit more.

You can’t say you don’t support something if you can’t even articulate why. That’s why learning to speak, and to speak with force, is important for a man.

Many of us are in the same boat as you. Stereotyping egalitarians/MRM as uniformly right wing is more feminist tactic than reality. Reality is that the MRM is mixed & (mostly) accepting.

You say "my values strongly align with those of Democratic values". I'd suggest you reconsider that. Lots of us fondly remember a left that cared about equality, civil rights, free speech, due process etc. But today's left opposes all those things. Oh, and they hate you because you are a man.
