Incel is not a gendered term. Regardless of what you are or what you seek, incel simply refers to anyone incapable of attracting their preferred parter for social, hygiene, political, etc reasons.

Any sex or gender can be involuntarily celibate.

There is no equivalent concept. If a man can't find a woman it's the man's fault. If a woman can't find/keep a man it's still the man's fault.

side note.. i was once called an incel by some braindead idiot on facebook and replied. im not an incel, im a volcel. she didnt even understand why i had said i was a volcel. she couldnt even comprehend that volcel meant voluntarily celibate. some of these women out their using it as an insult dont even know the meaning of it.

I mean, I am 27 and single, but I'd say there is no shame in that..:-) sad as it is some people never find a 'longtime mate'. & Some find it later in life than others. There is also the generational thing that we live longer and longer, and we 'get married and have children' as is the common 'route' later and later [in life]. So no, we should'nt have a bad word for that, regardless:-)

Incel mindset comes in part from virgin shaming of men. But women get slut shamed instead so it’s a double standard. A woman being virgin is not an attack at femininity how a man being virgin is an attack at masculinity. (This is within White western culture. Not all cultures see people this way. It is an aftermath from colonialism since the point of the colonized countries was to make human puppy mills to exploit. They are an extension of the working class so ruling class benefits from ensuring people keep procreating and stay ignorant so they can be used. Femcel is more of a term for a woman that makes herself so unattractive that nobody will sleep with her. That’s why nobody uses that term. The actual term is spinster I believe where they can only have sex but can’t do real relationships.

After you get married then divorced, you see the system was rigged in favor of women. You start pursuing other women and when you reject them some of these women retaliate by calling you incel. Because men are being selective after going through a divorce, men are labeled incel. Because most men could care less how women feel about them women have turned the word synonym with terrorist. Men were hurting from divorce so they become more selective, so women turned on divorced men in for being selective which is exactly the same thing that women do. By labeling men terrorist who reject most women, women are doing exactly what they claim men did. Once men found women to be toxic after the divorce or breakup women found it difficult to find a high quality man and women had to bring their A game instead of many thirsty men pursuing her.

One of feminisms goals ended up being to “eliminate shame” towards women…that’s why now’a days you won’t see women getting shamed for pretty much anything, but NOT being a feminist. If she can’t keep a man, it’s because “She doesn’t want to keep one!” “Men aren’t worth keeping! They can’t do anything for me anyways!!” (Which is coping with their decisions) to them, shame is “a tool of the patriarchy to control women” not our genuine collective distaste for certain behavior and treatment towards us…we aren’t allowed to look at them and judge them for choosing stupid options, that their society allowed-CHEERED ON actually…it’s “hating women”

But to shame a man as a woman in todays day and age, is a right of passage…

There's also the "Leftover Woman" term which is really common in Southeast Asian countries
