Most victims we are aware of are women. Most men that are victims keep it to themselves because for various reasons, there isn't anything to really be done about it since sexist biases have shaped our treatment and prejudices regarding rape.

I was raped. Took me about 8 years to figure out I was raped.

Unfortunately, the penal codes of certain countries (particularly British-based) think otherwise. Only men are to be convicted of rape. Women instead get convicted of sexual assault by penetration.

And it doesn't help that there are people saying things like this that are effectively victim blaming.

Rape has no gender indeed. I know at least 3 guys who were raped as children and by men. I know that women do it too and the worst thing is that many men mock the rape victim of those women like oh how dare you didn't like it, suck it up. I hope one day the victims will step out united against these assholes of humans who mock and raped both men and women.

Hard disagree. Many men don't even realize what they experienced counts as rape (or would be considered rape if happened to a woman).

I was regularly coerced into having sex by my wife at the time. It took me nearly a decade to realize I was being raped during that relationship. And I still have difficulty admitting to myself that what I experienced counts as rape. And forget about bringing this up in any mixed gender or women centric space, even anonymously. Most people seem to think it's impossible for a woman to coerce a man into sex because men are sex-craved animals that would never turn down a willing woman.

indeed. Understand that in almost all places until the past 40 years or so, rape was defined as something that couldn't happen to a man and/or be done by a woman. this is still true in many places around the world.

its not in the capacity of a lot of people to even understand that rape can be done by women, what that looks like, and many of the modes that rape is done by women are simply not construed as such.

so, OP, i wouldn't really be too sure that most victims are women. Women have been raping men unchecked and uncounted for a very long time, so long that most of our laws are written so as to preclude the possibility.

while i ain't saying that it fo sure the case, i suspect that over time, as folks speak out more about their own personal experiences, laws get re-written, and folks come to understand that women raping men, or indeed, women raping anyone is a thing, the difference between the numbers of male and female victims is going to shrink pretty drastically.

just for instance, the manipulation of someone to get them in bed is considered rape by some people, and is certainly doing someone dirty. When a man does it that is. When a woman uses her 'sexual wiles' to get a dude in the sack oft enough for some other reason (to get him to do something she wants him to do), this is actively celebrated as female empowerment.

Both manipulate the other person, sexually use them, and arguably at any rate rapes them. Though i'd caution against labeling everything as sexual assault, rape, or sexual harassment, as noted here those are the 451 percenters, id also recommend folks take a wait and see approach as to who's been sexually abusing whom.

According to the CDC, over the same period there were 1270000 female rape victims, and 1267000 male rape victims. That’s a difference of 0.002%. But only the figure for female rape cases were reported.

There is also different levels of rape. Bottom line consent is consent. But if you hear that word. Everyone immediately thinks the worst kind of rape.

In my case, I was raped when I was 23. I said no multiple times, and she kept pushing herself on me. I could have gotten physical and I could have stopped but after she kept pushing her self and taking off her clothes and having her have me touch her. I gave in to get her to stop.

Yes that's rape it was non consensual. However, I did enjoy it. I do not believe I am allowed to call it rape because of how people relate that word. My experience was way lesser than some other victims.

Saturday I was fondled - groped repeatedly chest, and privates by a friend of a friend while leaving a bar- prevented from leaving the elevator (u and I are going back up), kissed and grabbed multiple times, despite saying that I’m not interested and that I don’t want to be touched. Finally gave into a kiss and she tried sticking her tongue in my mouth - I feel like absolute shit…Strange sensation, I feel like my mind just went blank. i want nothing to do with this person but she just keeps coming and insisting. Now I am the one feeling shitty.

Could I have been more physical? Maybe I should have…but it’s not in my nature. I’m not the roughing up a woman type…

what’s worse?? causing a scene, by physically grabbing some woman’s wrist and physically pushing her or just putting up with it and hoping that she will eventually stop?

It was illegal for your friend to drink alcohol at college age. Am I supposed to feel sorry if you become a drug dealer and get shot? It goes with the territory. In fact it's what's supposed to happen. The problem is we don't see it this way for women and girls. Women and girls drink alcohol, illegally, in order to shed responsibility for what they do next. Have sex with guys they just met. You can't even call it victim blaming.
