*DISCLAIMER: I'm not a psych major or anything of the sort. I'm just a guy who likes to think about things.

Male here and as a sub to MensRights for the past few months, I've been thinking about this question a bit.

Why does society consider men who have sex with multiple women something to be praised and women who have sex with multiple men something bad?

This has been going on for millennia (men allowed to cheat on their wives, but not the opposite, etc) and I think it has to do with parentage, on the subconscious. As a woman, if you have sex with multiple men and get pregnant, it was very hard, if not impossible, to determine the true paternity of the child. Now we have DNA tests, but that is only a very recent development and the ideas from thousands of years ago have stuck with us. Whereas if you are a man and have sex with multiple women who get pregnant, as long as these women are not having sex with multiple men per the above "rule", then you know the parentage for near 100% certainty.

Of course, I could be completely wrong, but this is closest I've come to an answer so far. I'm not blaming either gender, I'm simply very curious.

I would love to hear some of your opinions!

EDIT: When I say men sleeping with many women is seen as normal or fine, I don't mean cheaters. I mean single men who have sex with multiple women. May not change things, but hopefully that clarifies some things.
