It is not the actual muscles, it is the over all vibe of the picture. This comes from when TRP posts muscle guys as "Chad" assuming women here will find them masculine, so they lack the kind of masculinity that appeals to women. It is always a guy with huge muscles, no body hair, a boyish face, and some thrusting hip pose that emphasizes the bulge or some half unzipped fly which is clearly supposed to appeal to men. It is not the muscles it is the way it is presented. It has been said before by others a lot of men have no idea what women find masculine and that is where the breakdown occurs.

Best way to know when someone's gay is to just ask. I'm not saying people can't give out a kinda gay vibe, some more subtle than others, but it's no guarantee. Taking musculature as an isolated trait as some kind of indicator of homosexuality seems silly and not based in reality.

Now let me put on my SJW cap and say that I also don't like this game of implying redpillers are closeted gays or mocking the men they consider masculine and attractive. It's childish and a little homophobic.

Sort of but not exactly.

I think bodybuilding is a mostly-straight pasttime in the first place. But sexually speaking, "hypermacho" style (in the grizzled/rugged/jacked/preposterone sense) is much more appealing to males. I'd say same-sex attracted dudes would prefer this too, and going by how hypermacho gay porn can be (as a bi dude I think I have some experience here) I'd argue I'm right.

Take one look at "bara" porn. Yeah, there is fetishization of extreme hypermasculinity of the rugged, grizzled, absurdly-huge type.

Now, women do like masculine men and they do like men who are larger than them. The distinction is a matter of degree. Women generally prefer definition over size, and there is such a thing as "too big" for most women. Women also like men who are handsome facially.

To use real life examples, men's idea of physical machoness = Wolverine.

Women, however, generally find Gambit hotter (and many of Wolverine's fangirls only started liking Wolvie when Wolvie was played by an actor who is one whole foot higher than the actual character).

But yeah, physical hypermasculinity absolutely can be queer. Most women do not feel sexual attraction to, say, 40-ish cigar-smoking leather-clad DILFs, or grizzled military vets with scars, graying chest hair and popping veins. Same-sex-attracted men are, in general, rather attracted to these archetypes.

And yeah, women do like tall men with muscular bodies, however they generally prefer a somewhat more youthful/polished/handsome/model-ish look.

Please tell me that you did not actually see a TRPer link to a Tom Of Finland pic and claim that the guy was a "Chad"?

That said, Tom Of Finland's men were all quite facially handsome too, and generally had plump lips. So they weren't pure "rugged" types.

And to be fair can you really expect TRPers to know the history of erotic art very well? Or the history of gay culture etc?

More like this. An overly muscular person isn't going to emanate gay vibes unless effeminate posture/gestures, overly exposed body, overly tight clothes, effeminately exposed body, overly flawless skin/body hair.

People don't directly associate muscles with homosexuality, it's all the details around. There are pictures of women with big muscles, but effeminate on every other aspects so they don't appear like lesbians.

Gay vibe is an interesting thing. Because some gay men are more obvious than others. So when someone is successful in finding out the more obvious, it builds their confidence. Yet I wager most gay men are far more invisible than most realize. If they weren't, there wouldn't be so much shock when one comes out to their loved ones. There wouldn't be a need for 'The Closet'.

Considering muscles, you might consider who those muscles are for. I wager most women aren't into guys who are overly built. A more reasonable level of open physical development tends to be more accepted. So for those who push the envelope, I'd wager that is for themselves and/or other men who are more likely to idolize that kind of open display of physical development. Vicarious power fantasies are more of a male thing, though not exclusively.

This is mostly in professional bodybuilding and not the casual lifters.

It is well known many of the pros do gay for pay to help pay for their steroids, which can cost several thousand per month.

What'll really fuck with you is when you hear stories about how the most famous wave of bodybuilders were funded and even housed to a large degree by wealthy gay men, and how people have made the argument that we may not have had many of them, or even the competitive bodybuilding industry at all without these "benefactors."

But I'd say all you have to do to learn about modern bodybuilding is to go to the sub or any website. It's unbelievably competitive. Those guys are the best in the world at changing the way the human physique looks, and it's not even close. Several things are clear when you spend any time reading them: they used to go by a version of lookism, many still think girls like them at a certain size. Many now accept that women do not like bodybuilder size men, it's largely an inside joke now. Many come off like they have "bigorexia." I would say most bodybuilders are not gay regardless of the imagery they choose to emulate.

There may be a gay male bodybuilding subculture, but to say all men with muscles are gay is idiotic. That's like saying all cowboys or men who wear cowboy hats and boots are gay because some gay men like to wear cowboy costumes. Your literally making a straw man argument. If you want to claim that TRP post pictures of gay looking chads, you need to actually find pictures posted by TRP that people agree look gay. Not take a gay looking picture and simply assert that TRP posts pictures like that.
