When I get someone’s number from a dating site or in person my next convo is about setting up an in person meeting. All the getting to know ya chit chat can be had there. I prefer FaceTiming or calling in person. Texting is an easy way to be put on the back burner. Every girl I ever dated or hooked up with had no problem meeting me very quickly after the initial number exchange

Without chatting? That seems like too much of a potential waste of time (and money, if I'm treating her on the first date) to me. All of the girlfriends I've ever had I met either on online chatrooms or message boards, and never dating sites or apps, and I've screened out lots of women who I was completely incompatible with by chatting with them first, usually for at least a couple of weeks.

Never. I would rather choose from the men who make the first move and don't find it tedious to talk to me. Profiles don't mean much to me because a digital first impression which took hours to craft doesn't accurately describe the person.

I met my husband and the guys I dated about and around 1997- 2000 all online. Before my husband I dated people I met online because I was a soft fetish porn webmaster. Our local fetish events were heavily smattered with slaves and Masters that had been playing in BDSM chatrooms for months before the meeting.

Today is weird that way. I had 0 problems with the guys I dated that I met online. Before we met in person I knew who they were even without video by hearing about friends or family, talking to people that knew, basically vetting them to understand that I want to spend my time with this person.

People are still doing this today I think. Certainly, it's become a thing with 90-day Fiance and all.

Things move fast nowadays but it’s still weird to meet someone before a dozen messages. Most of those “blind dates” I went to were pretty bad too, we were not on the same page.
