Beyond extreme heightcells or Blackpill doomers obsessed about the fairness of women focusing on unalterable vs. alterable traits, I think most reasonable men understand that women do and should care about male appearance. I also think most reasonable men expect that women should be more selective, and thus that female criteria for potential mates would be wider ranging and more stringent than male.

So if you want to engage with the best form of the argument, it's all about HOW MUCH MORE selective. That's it. The rest is noise from stupid people. It's about female selectivity in totality--whatever the criteria, what % of men does it exclude? The higher the % of men excluded, the higher the gap in SMV rank women will require in a partner. If this is too high, it seems socially unsustainable and dangerous, and just unfair. If women wanted to judge potential mates overwhelmingly based on looks, the same way men judge women, but be just a bit more selective, I think most reasonable men could accept this. But don't then require income, status, etc. etc.

I’m confused by people who say they only started to pay attention to their appearance once they adopted a certain pill. How were you raised? Did you live in an isolated community? I was always told that if I wanted to make a good impression on anyone, I should dress well, take care of my hair, be in reasonable shape. That has been clear for me since preschool at least.

Looks do matter. But what someone values looks wise vary person to person. So to say every woman wants a Ryan Gosling is silly. Or a 6ft 6pack gym bro. Like what people find physically attractive varies. All you can do as an individual is take care of your personal hygiene, groom yourself, style yourself, put some effort into your appearance, figure out what looks and feels best to you. Improve what you can (braces to correct your smile and bite regular dental appointments, healthy habits, a skin care routine and maybe a doctor to help with out of control acne).

We need a base level of physical attraction if there is none. It is what it is. And to say women should just ignore their base need for physical attraction is just silly to me. It's a huge gaslight to people to say beauty is only skin deep. Sure you can be a pretty person with a shit personality. And to say you have to override that programming and date this person because they are nice to you. Is silly. Or only these ugly men will like you! So you have to be with a man you find ugly or you will die alone. Just seems absurd.

Wanting to be physically attracted to your partner is the bare minimum. It's not shallow. It's not exceedingly high over the top ridiculous standards. It's the bare minimum. That you want to feel some attraction to the person you are looking at and planning on being sexually intimate with. It's not a big mysterious dark truth. If you out XYZ effort into yourself, you would likely want a partner that reflects that.
