I think this subject of Pupil Dilation and under what conditions needs far more attention and exploration because I think there’s alot of answers that can come from exploring Pupil Dilation in the area of dating.

I’ve found myself talking to women that have large, consistantly dilated pupils (during the day in well lit areas) and they are clearly interested and generally show this through other signals that I would have otherwise dismissed without the compelling pupil dilation.

I’ve been realising that ALOT of women are aroused by me, many that shouldn’t be (married to my friends, married co-workers, girls that are too young, relatives (yes, big shock!), girls that are clearly very shy and don’t talk to me, married older lady clients, “lesbians”, guys that I thought were friends that turned out gay and many other women) that you would not expect to be attracted to you.

I’ve found through the daytime in well lit areas that they have dilated pupils when looking at me and then shrinking when looking away (not looking at me).

When I first began to consistantly observe pupils, I honestly chalked this up to being non-sense science but the more I see it and the more research I conduct through pouring over medical studies, the more things make sense.

I came on the forum to search this topic because I’m finding that it’s a very consistant sign that a person is very interested in you that they aren’t aware they’re giving you. I wanted to see others experience of this here but haven’t found much on the subject.

I’ve also realised that just because someone finds you very attractive/arousing (alá pupil dilation is arousal), it doesn’t mean they can/will have act ont this interest by dating or sex with you.

I think an even bigger realisation is that women blatantly lie about how much and how often they are aroused by men.

They could swear in court, under oath that only a tiny fraction of men are physically attractive to them but that consistant pupil dilation (in well lit areas) tells a very different story.

Some of my notes on the subject below:

A strong sign of arousal, no matter what it’s caused by: * Apparently caused mainly by a Norepinephrine dump in the body - which is a hormone + neurotransmitter. * Dilation also caused by Oxytocin (and therefore trust) - alone or in conjunction with norepinephrine * Also caused by Adrenaline + Norepinephrine (fight/freeze/flight) or High stress/nervous situations * Possibly caused by both Norep + Oxytocin + wanting more light to see something (due to high interest) * Norepinephrine increases blood flow to heart, muscles * Sympathetic nervous activity promotes pupil dilation and parasympathetic activity promotes constriction of the pupil * lesions in sympathetic pathways primarily impeding dilation in response to changes in arousal, but not luminance (light) * Lesions in parasympathetic pathways primarily affect the pupillary light response * Norep synthesized from dopamine > then released into blood as hormone > combines with other hormones > Pupil Dilation

  • Other Dilation Causes: some drugs, bipolar/mania (wet + sparkle), high fear & anger (conjuction with cortisol dump), Low light areas, stimulant like coffee (rare + significant dosage), brain damage (rare), eye injury (rare & usually only one eye)

Pupils Add to Your Own Attractivness * Apparently supposed to make you more attractive to others (doesn’t for me)

*Could be due to Attraction Reciprocity

*Difficult to see pupils in darker eye colours & non-Europeans, which could be the reason light eyed Europeans regarded as more attractive

  • Possibly why low lighting is best (pupils more dilated) for romantic settings

  • Nightclubs = more dilated due to darkness

  • Dark bars/restaurants & candlelight dates = more dilated pupils

Other eye based signals: 1. Sudden increased (or decreased) blinking is another great indication of attraction 2. They pay close attention to my other facial features (esp. Lips) - may flick between eyes & lips 3. Smiling with mouth & eyes 4. Looking your whole body up & down 5. Triangular gaze: Eye to Eye to Lips and back

If anyone has any further research or experience(s) on this subject, please share it here.
