Suppose there was a machine. This machine was capable of reading and translating your brain, your thoughts, your experiences, and your feelings to another person to freely experience and peruse. There would be no greater expression of closeness, trust and love than to use the machine; it would exist as a step beyond marriage as a lifelong commitment, as an intertwining of "souls".

Scenario 1:

  • The machine is a one way street. You may read a/your partner's mind, but they do not require a link to yours, or vice versa. What do you do? Would you be willing to use the machine? Would you want them to use it for you? Would you offer to use it and have no interest in seeing theirs?

Scenario 2:

  • The machine is a two way street. You may not link to your partner's mind without offering your naked mind yourself. What do you do? Would you be willing to use the machine?
