I've been on a lot of Hinge dates and currently have a girlfriend I met from Hinge. I also have a lot of friends, both male and female, who are actively dating. Here is everything I've learned:

1) Where you live matters a lot. Some areas of the country are much easier to meet people and form relationships than others.

2) When someone is interested, you typically know because they make it pretty obvious. Every woman I've dated who was interested made it super easy to set up dates and they got back to me in a reasonable time. People have their cellphone glued to their hip nowadays regardless of their profession.

3) If you're a man and live at home with parents, it will hurt you. It fundamentally turns most women off regardless of how much financial sense it may make. Guys typically care a lot less if a woman lives at home with parents. I think this is the biggest double standard in dating.

4) Women care about what you do for work. Guys seem to care a lot less about what a woman does for work.

5) Guys lower their standards a lot of for casual sex.

6) If you're a man, you have to skillfully gravitate things in a sexual direction throughout the dating cycle. I'm pretty sure most of us men know that feeling of blowing through a few dates and ending up in friend zone land after missing our chance. There truly is a window of time to a make moves while a woman is interested. I think the 2nd date is the perfect time for a first kiss in my lived experience.

7) Appearance matters a lot and a lot of looking handsome is just looking healthy, groomed and wearing clothes that fit looking good on you.

8) In general, women get more attached after sex. Oxytocin is a hell of a drug.

9) Men and women both know if you're relationship material pretty quickly. If he doesn't want you as his girlfriend after a few dates, he's never going to want you as his girlfriend. He probably knew on date one if you're good enough to introduce to friends and family. (Harsh, but true).

10) Most common thing I've seen with female friends is a lack of self respect allowing them to get strung along and f-zoned but guys who don't care about them. I've had some women friends who were strung along for literal years in situationships.

11) First date is mostly out of your hands. I had a few dud first dates until I met my current GF. I didn't really do anything different with her...she just simply naturally liked me a lot compared to previous women.

12) As a man, you want to build comfort AND sexual attraction with the woman you're dating.
