When I was in college most guys liked video games. I feel like the “Chads” played tons of FIFA and fortnite and probably more hours/week playing video games than the nerds. I lived in the athlete housing at a D1 school and all the dudes gamed a bunch. I was a chemical engineer major and my nerdy classmates swore off video games.

I got into weightlifting and bodybuilding by college so was at the university gym a lot. The dudes who played pickup basketball there all the time were def not having as much casual sex as the guys in my dorm who were playing fortnite and FIFA

Your post reads very media panic to me. It's kinda like how people blame video games for school shootings, or blame "satanic music" for the decline of religion. Both are silly to entertain but people do it anyway. Not even 40 years ago, even something as innocent as Dungeons & Dragons was the cause of a moral panic, which is probably the most ridiculous one to me.

Nothing wrong with being super nerdy though. People should do what makes them happy.

I do agree with the notion that movies did skew the expectation's of beta males in terms of how they viewed female selection. But in my opinion it just gave them a cope, no more no less.

Ultimately masculinity and the like comes down to hormone's and how you end up physically developing. It's not like watching a Jonah Hill movie at 14 years old will somehow affect how you develop physically. To be frank, it wont change your behavior to be more effeminate either. These things are the consequence of biology and it's interplay with human social dynamics, which are intricately linked. The chads i know from high school and college watched the same shit growing up and it didnt affect them anymore than it did the nerdy betas. Again, all it did was give the latter some false hope, but nothing much beyond that since when they went to school the next morning they had reality let them know where they stand and what's important.

I like the analogy someone here wrote with regards to video games and violence. Playing violent video games doesnt turn you into a maniacal bloodthirsty individual, much like watching blue pilled coming of age movies from the 2000's doesnt turn you into a beta male. Those things are more deterministic than people like yourself care to admit, because if they weren't, then your inflated ego and self-praise would actually be worthy of listening to.

I'm a standard computer nerd and I've always been told we are the virgin kind, except I'm apparently manly enough in my general behaviour.

All manly men I know who "throw a ball" all watched animes, played video games, and did geek stuff btw.

But to be fair, two of my best friends are fat, rotund (one 280, 6'3, the other 6'6 315lbs) both fat boys, married to solid B-(college softball player) solid B(college rower) girls, and live great lives, and have literally the happiest marriages I've ever seen.

But, they were fat boys that played football, wrestling, Track and Field, and golf. Just manly.

Guys who have a decent amount of muscle mass can get away with being fat for a while but it eventually catches up with them. I know -- I was such a guy -- I played ball in high school at 210 lbs, I was a 250 lb soldier, and a 280 lb cop in my twenties. However, by my early fifties I was anything but athletic and I certainly wasn't the least bit attractive. Indeed I ended up in the cardiac ICU when I was 53. It took a lot to fight back from that.

OP's buddies are living on borrowed time. Like them I thought I had a happy marriage. However, without the prior physical attraction my wife jumped on her first opportunity to branch swing. Trust me -- being a single fat sick old guy sucks.

What makes you think they can't throw a ball and don't play sports. They just can't keep up with the jocks.

Plus even if geeks and nerds invested ALL their geek time in physical training, they STILL wouldn't get to the same level as jocks who go to the gym once a week for fun.
