Well, this was an enlightening read. Though it's not really a denied pussypass, to be honest. Despite my pointed commentary she genuinely regrets her mistakes and admits to them, which isn't actually objectionable. Her past version might have been a bitch, but reality seems to have sobered her up.

In case people wonder what the "Nirvana Fallacy" is, it basically means rejecting something real (in this case her fiancee) purely because it isn't as good as a made up idealized version of it (her even-more-perfect Mr. Right) despite the idealized version being unrealistic and likely not existing in real life. It's a close relative of the Perfect Solution Fallacy which argues that any solution that is not utterly perfect shoud be discarded i.e. abolishing the police because they don't stop 100% of all crime.

My wife just did the same thing to me, basically. She just got a professional job paying slightly more than mine in a high cost-of-living state and thinks she is somehow above me, even though I work about half as many hours as she does.

And of course when she left (this was like 11 months ago) she gave me a whole bunch of reasons why it was somehow my fault (like so many stupid reasons that weren't even divorce-worthy criteria. it was silly). Took me a little while to realize that it was totally just her being selfish and sticking me with all the marital debt and responsibilities so she could do what she wanted.

So I'm giving her the divorce she wants. She has a shit ton of debt in her own name anyway. And I have a nice, dream-destroying surprise waiting for her for just after the divorce is finalized. I can't fucking wait to betray the woman who betrayed me.
