I’ve always texted my husband frequently, even before we were married. He’s always been a busy guy but he appreciates seeing that I’ve been thinking about him throughout the day, he gets back to me when he cans. I think everyone is a bit different when it comes to texting but I don’t think most men would mind seeing that a woman is sending them cute messages throughout the day. It makes someone feel appreciated.

I’ve never texted my man frequently, from when we first met, to when we started dating, to when we became “official”, to when we moved in together. We never did that “good morning/goodnight” text thing, and we also didn’t text all day just to chat or keep in touch. The most we would do is send a funny meme every now and then if we came across it, or a picture of ourselves if we were feeling attractive that day (LOL). But it’s pretty normal for us to go days without texting.

In my experience, this made our relationship so much healthier. It made us actually miss each other and made when we actually saw each other much more special. We actually had stuff to talk about and update each other about, which meant that we could talk for hours and hours with excitement and enthusiasm each time we saw each other. It made us look forward to when we could get together all day, and I think it’s part of the reason why I still get butterflies for him to this day. We also prefer calling each other and Facetimeing in place of texting if we miss each other.

I was never really concerned that he was juggling other options and vice versa, just because we weren’t texting all day. I stopped seeing other people very early on in our dating history because frankly, none of them compared to how awesome he was. I didn’t assume that he was doing the same, but to be honest I was quite confident that he felt strongly about me as well. Because he was always the one to make things more serious and committed, I never questioned his loyalty or dedication to me. It also helps that he doesn’t use any social media, doesn’t go clubbing/drinking, and his main hobbies are very male-centric. He’s always been a trustworthy man, and throughout the years it’s become pretty clear that I’m the only one for him.

I have found that texting should happen at least once a day when dating. The guys I have gone out with that only want to text a handful of days a week have always ended up badly (They were juggling a ton of women, they just weren’t that interested in me or wanted something casual) just from my own experience. Even if it’s just a good morning, good night, or how are you text, something each day to stay engaged. I do not think however people need to be having long text conversations every day as an adult, that’s way too much. Honestly I’m not a big Texter either. But going for multiple days without even a check-in is a bad sign to me. Think of it this way - if they had a new connection on a dating app, they definitely wouldn’t go multiple days without texting because they know they would lose that connection. The same should be true in a newly dating relationship.

When we were dating we used texts like a "hey look at this funny thing" or setting something up. If we were going to have an entire conversation we spoke on the phone.

My fiancé (25m) and I (22f) live together and we mostly text for logistics. He’ll text me if he’s working late, I’ll let him know if I picked up groceries on my way home so he won’t stop at the store too, etc.

We do send memes now and then. But most days we don’t text at all.

The best advice I can give anyone.... Only text him one or two times and then wait your turn. Sometimes he will text you right back and sometimes he might make you wait. Sometimes he might make you wait a whole day. C'est la vie - if you are a high value woman then you should be too busy living your life to care.

When my fiancé works away from home (which is normal for us) we occasionally text in the evening. We also text each other things like “have a good day” or little bits of gossip we pick up (lol).

If he is working nearby (rare) the only texts I usually send are questions I need answered like “will you be home for dinner?”

Depends on the couple and the situation.

Personally, I prefer to call or video chat once a day when we are apart, thats it. Or once every other day.

Any less or no contact for more than two days I would see as not as frequent as I’d like.

I dated a guy in a ldr for a year and we video chatted about once every other day, and the other days we’d text like a meme to each other, not really having a text conversation, thats exhausting at least to me. At the beginning we texted a lot more but later we started calling more and texting less.

With my current bf we didn’t text a lot we usually called daily before we moved in together.

I've been with my husband for over a decade and we text every morning and every night (temporary LDR). Then we touch base throughout the day just to let the other know we are thinking of them. My husband also likes memes a lot, so I send him random, funny ones periodically, especially if I know he's having a tough day.

When we lived together we still sent each other good morning texts because we started work at different times, and touched base throughout the day for logistics or to vent sometimes to each other.

Full text: Just curious, how often do you text your SO especially if you are unmarried? Do you primarily use it for setting up dates? Do you do good morning and good night? We are in a very new relationship and my BF prefers to use it for setting up dates and flirting (a day or two leading up to the date), which is definitely cool with me but it's very different from my past exes who would try to have an entire convo over text. My BF is not about that and I noticed I don't have the impulse to text as much either. We usually send only a handful of texts per day but most texts are very short and sweet and/or flirty.
