We live in a tech world now: everyone and their dog has an app you can by. But what does this mean for us? Well programmers are need they make good money. There no legislative body that forces you to get a college degree for it and it can be self taught. Understanding that you gig at KFC or job as a cubical bitch isn't going to satisfy you or increase your SMV is critical. Fortunately, if you are decent at math you can teach you self how to program and forge yourself a new career path. I don't want this to sound like I'm trying to hook you up with a timeshare cuz I'm not. What I'm telling you is something i wish I was taught a few years ago; that STEM is the way to go if you want a viable career. But programming is the just about the only one that you don't have to go to school for.

Edit - I admit that I may have been wrong about this one. I'm a programmer and have seen those who where construction workers, janitors, grocers, ect change their lives. But what you consider dead end is based on what you as an individual value. I personally have no interest in climbing the corporate ladder. What I want is not work for myself and build a sustainable company using programming which is something I enjoy doing. I failed to consider that most people arn't interested in the same things as me. But for those who are programming, at least for the next few years, gives people access to employers they would never otherwise get the chance to work for. Once you prove your value there are possibilities to switch career paths within the organization
