My journey to discovering TRP was via RSD. It is interesting to note the disparity in rhetoric between the two. While RSD make claims such as "it doesn't matter what you look like" and "men are attracted to physical qualities; women are attracted to behaviour", I was surprised to find that the TRP community values "lifting" and physical appearance so much.

Whether it be because they are short, balding or straight up ugly, RSD is full of instructors who are not classically physically attractive. This works in their favour as it shows that you can pick up even the hottest of girls regardless of what you look like (which is exactly the idea they are selling). When you first watch their videos you are astounded at their success with 9s and 10s as it challenges everything you thought you knew about the SMP.

Then you discover the TRP community and read that, for pulling girls, your physical appearance should be your number 1 priority. You should go to the gym 6 days a week to get V'd out and build an impressive set of guns. That's how you get girls!

Before I continue I should mention that I am well aware of the argument that RSD diminish the importance of physical appearance as a marketing ploy to convince skinny ugly dweebs to pay for programs even though they have no chance of pulling the 10s they are promised. I have heard these arguments, but I don't buy it, because of what I have experienced and seen with my own eyes.

I am 6 foot 3, 210 pounds, with very broad shoulders and visible abs. I am generally considered a "big guy", to the point that I'm forever getting very sarcastic comments that I need to "bulk up" or "start hitting the gym more". I get compliments on my physique on nights out, been called "Mr. Biceps" and had people call me "very classically handsome" multiple times. I know I'm coming across as an incredible narcissist/douchebag right now but I'm just trying to get across to you that I look like I lift and have a good, strong, attractive physique. And the reason I'm trying to get that across is so that you will maybe listen to me when I tell you that it DOES NOT HELP MY GAME IN THE SLIGHTEST.

I can fully appreciate that I might have a few more eyes on me when on a night out, and I might get a longer window in which to hook a girl when I approach. But that's about where the advantages end. I hear these stories of guys getting in shape and suddenly having all the women flock to them. This is not my experience. I don't get approached on the street and I rarely get opened in a club. I have to work just as hard as any other guy when it comes to pulling girls and have gone home alone many times while shorter, uglier, skinnier guys with better game get the girl.

Oh and by the way, all of those comments about my physique ("Mr. Biceps", "very classically handsome" etc.) came from guys.

You're using your physique as an excuse. You're making a scapegoat out of your body. "I didn't pull tonight: I guess I need to work more on my incline bench press." Be honest with yourself and your weaknesses because that's the only way to improve. You didn't pull because you either didn't approach enough or because you didn't do the right things after you approached. Do the work and take action. And what about for those of you who noticed a massive increase in success when you got in shape? I fully believe that's because you finally gave yourself permission to start acting like an alpha. You look/feel the part now so you can justify acting the part too. That comes across when you're talking to girls. And that is what attracts them. Not your 24 inch biceps (is that big?). The only thing those biceps will attract is a bunch of homoerotic 'mirin gym rats.

There's so much on this sub about giving girls emotions. And yet that idea seems to go out the window when people start talking about "lifting". Being in shape will NEVER get you the girl. It might help. But giving the girl emotions (via eye contact, vibe, frame etc.) will always be far more important. Think about it, if you look like Frank Zane but you can't look a girl in the eye, do you think you're getting laid? She really wants to fuck you, but as soon as she started talking to you and felt your weakness she dried up like a camel's arsehole in a sandstorm.

Just so we're clear I'm not saying don't go to the gym. I'm not saying it's not important. What I'm saying is that when it comes to getting girls, it's maybe 10% of the big picture. The other 90% is your behaviour, how you interact with women, how you carry yourself etc. The 90% is game. So don't hit the gym like a madman thinking "when I get a 500lb deadlift and look like the shit, women will start falling into my lap". Nope. You've got to go out and do all the same shit that the skinny-fat uggos have to. So you might as well start now.

EDIT: A lot of commenters seem to think that I'm attacking lifting or diminishing its psychological and physiological importance. This is not the case at all. I'm an avid lifter myself and have been completely (to my detriment) obsessed with it for many years. It's a non-negotiable part of my life. My contention is with the importance of muscles and looks when it comes to success with women. It's just occurred to me now that this is a very important distinction to make. Perhaps I should have named this post "Physique is Not Enough".
