As a software engineer in a climate of people earning well into 6 figures, I can assure you that while women are absolutely hypergamous, they still prefer bad boys to rich career men with their lives together (AF/BB).

There are three types of "relationship status" for a high-earning software developer:

Married/dating ugly, white harpy. Extremely needy, demanding uggo keeps his balls in her pocket, and he's her extraordinarily blue-pill bitch. A LOT of these women "decide to quit working" after they're married, despite not being SAHMs and having previously had good careers. These men tend to work late whenever they can.
Hot Asian wife. These are the winners. Tiger women, even if born and raised in America, have inherited the culture of their native lands and crave the smart, high-earning, intellectually confident men they've managed to land. Pictures of half-Asian kids are sitting on a LOT of desks in my office, and these wives seem to actually treat their men well.
Incels. Wait, what? Incels? But they're rich! Oh, I get it, they must be the fat D&D nerds with no social lives, right? WRONG. Many of them are very interesting, in-shape, athletic, outgoing people with amazing hobbies who are confident. But they are not BAD BOYS. They are the antithesis of bad boys. They are very regimented in their lives, have it all together, and as a result, they bore women to death. They are interesting to ME, because their conversations are packed with facts and logic and rational insight, but women are put to sleep by the lack of EMOTION. These are the men that confound blue pill men - everything we've been led to believe makes us expect them to do WELL with women. Reality is quite the opposite.

Again even this article is blaming men solely for a societal problem caused by both genders.

Marriage rates are going down the shutter because no western woman wants to get married before the age of 30. They want to "experience life" aka the cock carousel as long as their looks will let them. Women do not spend their money on the future or betterment of situation, they spend it on booze and travel. Remember a woman's money is her money and your money is "the relationships".

Men has all but realized this and have now said fuck it to future and betterment savings. Except lonely men spend money on video games and other isolationist hobbies. That combine with the fact that a valuable man gains absolutely nothing from offering commitment to a women while is gains wildly means men aren't committing.

I have yet to find a single benefit from commitment to a single woman. There is not a single tangible thing I get by eschewing other women for a single one. There is nothing a single woman can offer me that I can't get while still dating other women. Once you accept the fact that marriage doesn't mean you win and get awarded a happy ending life for 50years where you can settle down there is no point. Why put myself in a situation where this woman, who by her own admission can't control her emotions and is prone to hasty bad decisions, basically controls half my assets? She has 1 too many bad hairs days that I don't console her about and I lose 50% of my networth and family? Fuck off with that deal sir. If I'm going to constantly be making myself better I am going to be constantly seeking better. There is no happy ending in settling down for men.

What is she gonna stop having sex with me? Cool I'll just go strike up a conversation with the cute blonde in line. Oh but I will end up a lonely neckbeard at age 30? I got married at 34 without a stable income-- I was still settling into my relatively new commission-only sales job. My new wife was doing okay and we were getting by on her salary and my occasional commission checks. This was all agreed upon prior to our engagement.

It is a lie that marriage and birth rates are positively tied to income. And it's a lie that many people are happy to perpetuate because it offers a convenient excuse.

And everybody already knows it. Think "country with high birth rates", you immediately think African countries and South Asian countries. Which are poor. Think "country with low birthrates", you immediately think West European countries and 1st world East Asia. Rich countries.

So actually the opposite is true. If you want high marriage and birth rates, it's pretty easy: make everyone dirt poor.

Delayed marriage and low birth rates are a result of culture, a result of the aggregate decisions of people in that culture, and money actually exacerbates those cultural attitudes.

I think that's precisely why. In the past you had to pool your resources together to be able to survive. Now that resources are much more abundant it's easier to live on your own.

The uncertainty of life is what made marriage a necessity. Today marriage is a luxury.

If we want to take it a step further. Assuming the premise that marriage is the most effective structure for having children, in an agrarian society you get married and pop out tons of kids so you have plenty of little workers for your farm.

Today, having kids is just something to do because it's expected of you, not because your survival literally depends on it.

The lack of survival pressures has made us lazy.

There is a source that can be applied across everything. Logic and sense. Marriage has always been a simple contract--the man gives resources and protection, including his own like if necessary, in return for regular sexual access and a mother of his children. Everything else around marriage is a decoration. So let's examine one of the terms of this contract: regular sexual access. In this day and age, this is readily available without entering in this contract. So, why would anyone with any sense enter into such a contract? Why assume liabilities when you can have the ass(ets) for free? Only an idiot would do that (also read: someone suffering acute unicornitus).

Money has nothing to do with it. Well, I backtrack that on slightly, it might affect the attractiveness of some males to some females. However, broadly the real reason is the sexual revolution.

One word: opportunity cost.

Women making more than men is illogical from the standpoint of having children and maternity leave. As a society, we can make laws barring companies from making promotion and hiring decisions based on this; however, taking off that amount of time in corporateland will screw your career whether you tell them to or not.

It's like if the wnba all stars played the nba all stars and they doubled the points for each shot made by the women. If money, pride, and glory are on the line, they're still gonna lose (This doesn't count bullshit "celebrity games" and shit where no one cares).

They're not losing because the system is rigged (in fact, they still lose when it's rigged in their favor), they're losing because of systemic differences. When money's on the line, you're getting everyone's best whether you like it or not.

Making money is a factor of time. Having kids is a factor of time. Something's got to give.

While the little bastard's suckling at her teet as she watches hg tv and the bachelorette, her coworker (read competitor) is showing his (yes, his) face at the right times and places and outworking her. He's giving even more because this is his opportunity to outshine her.

So having the woman be the main breadwinner when trying to make a family is counterintuitive. Due to systemic (unfixable) attributes in a corporate structure (all of which are factors of time and effort), women have the "glass ceiling" when they're married.

It's a huge unknown with how many kids this chick will have, why would i make her partner so she can suckle at the teet of the company while she contributes nothing? Nah, let's just make her manager at best, pay her fucking maternity leave, and call it a day.

Sidenote: i think getting married typically helps men's careers (misery loves company) and hurts women's careers overall.
