Hi guys,

I would like to talk about my experience and observations on completely eliminating my consumption of artificial and processed sugar from my diet. Probably a month and a half ago I decided to cut out all booze, soda, processed white sugar, peanut butter, jams or any sort of candy or chocolate. The reason I did this experiment was to see the changes my body goes through. Even though I am in an ideal weight range for my height and in good physical shape (5'9, 159 lbs.) I decided to try this out because I read an article on effects of artificial sugar on our body.

Mind you, the only source of any sugar in my diet right now is from fruits. (1 apple, 2 to 3 bananas, 1 orange per day)

Here are my observations

Loss of weight through drop in body fat percentage - Even though I am on a skinny side as I am a runner I noticed a drop in my body fat percentage by .5 or 1%. I have better muscle definition and the biggest effect I can say was that my face is even more skinner. The benefit is purely aesthetic yet beneficial for the game.

Mindfulness - This has to be the biggest difference I’ve noticed. It is my observation that we consume unnecessary portions of sugar daily which constantly keeps us in a state of ‘high’. Since being on this diet I had a higher level of self-awareness which contributed in observing minute details of my surrounding, higher short term memory retention. I also experienced a high level of self- control either it be controlling emotional impulses or waning self-discipline.

Feeling Relaxed – In addition to being more aware, I also felt very relaxed. Because I don’t have that sugar high, I feel more chill and some of my anxieties and self-worry have been pushed back. I feel relatively more positive and mellow.

The last point is an observation from a plate. She mentioned in passing that I have a muskier scent. I cannot quantify this through observation but to certain extent I think it is a valid point as anything you consume has a direct effect on your body. Maybe having less sugar in the system has an effect on my pheromones.

Please do experiment with this if you can and share your experiences. Hopefully we all can contribute to the benefit of all our fellow Red Piller’s through our findings.

Cheers, LT
