It isn't a lie that is purposely spread by an entity; it's more of a collective cluster of ignorance-beliefs that society has subconsciously allowed to slowly form in all of us over time.

I think a big reason for this is that men used to be unafraid to be men, to be strong, brave, confrontational, impulsive, risk-taking, sexist, chauvinistic, to be proud to be men unironically, to completely accept the model of the patriarchy as the only logically superior way to do things, and there was no pussification of men, so arguably men were already attractive by default; they didn't need anyone to tell them to have balls because they already had them. So the only thing that was left to mention in the equation was love. The problem is that slowly but surely, our increasingly feminized society has been wiping testosterone the fuck out of our beings, and as such, now we need to be told how to not be weak and repulsive but the general public hasn't caught up with it.

It's not really a secret. Call it an "unspoken truth".

Women pretend not to be "sluts" and "dirty", men pretend to "love them for something else than access to the pussy".

It appeared around the first agricultural revolution (the moment we changed from hunter-gatherer society to a farmer one). Once you didn't have to be a top alpha male (that can kill for food or can kill an opponent) to get pussy (b/c women put out for you to give them access to your resources, statistically stable food stream, stable housing) there was no benefit (only risk, no healthcare back then) to be one anymore.

On both sides, life expectancy and survival rate went up, so it really was a step forward.

The problem appeared over the course of centuries. Our technology and culture outpaced the biology. With the advent of religion (pun itended) and with the combination of "access to sex for access to resources" we (most likely men) came up with the idea of sexual purity ("sex is bad, sex is sinful UNLESS with me"). So now we can shame (punish) a woman for not abiding to the contract ("access to sex for access to resources").

Under all of that, we have biology, specifically female biology. We've been hunter-gatheres for much longer than we have been farmers. Women's biology evolved to respond to (mate with) alphas of the tribe, not to providers of food and shelter (because there were none when we evolved). So women still respond to the "brute" alpha sexual advances, not to "nice" betas who provide.

This is the dichotomy. Women want BOTH things (AlphaFux for sexual pleaseure and genes) and BetaBux (for stability and survival, both theirs and their offspring). We demand 2 things too: fidelity (my resources for my offspring ONLY) and access to sex (the prime charachteristic of an alpha male).

We want both, we settle for one, officially, while unofficially still desire (and actively pursue) the other.

To me it's similar to how one would exaggerate the stories told at a bar - to make it funnier, more light hearted for the audience.

Coupled with how work, family or even politics are discussed sharing the same similarities, I can't fault the media too much for copying the formula. It's an old adage dating back from when a steady homelife was nearly a guarantee in the US, and you'd have to be a complete fuckup to not have a stable income, own a home (that you could pay off in about 5 years on a single income of not just buy outright), and a wife who wasn't on psych meds. My take is money. Educate the men and the economy would collapse.

Your average man spends for himself little amounts of money. Think of your college days you were quite happy with $ 500 in a month at your disposal. You could buy some beers, pay for some activities and other than that thats it. Same goes to some extent to middle aged wealthy guys ie. get the stomach full then dediacte yourself to your hobbie; maybe make every other year some huge purchase a bicycle or a trip to Europe for example.

"All that matters is love" simply means that life is dependent upon love, which is not a thing but the process of sexual attraction, intercourse, procreation and then the continued caring and nurturing for the child and that's of course the driving power behind the existence of our species.

It may have been true in the past that women were more attracted to men with power and resources, but in this day in age it's much less important because women can now acquire their own resources. Yes, there still exist some women who do not have the skills to earn a living or are lazy or unlucky and may go after a man based on his resources, but it's largely not true anymore.

It's not a secret that when people have options, they will choose the best one based on some criteria, so if you give them the choice, they would take rich over poor, strong over weak, etc. You do the exact same thing. Society does not hide this in any way, unless you grew up Amish or in some sort of religious cult or something. Society shows this truth everywhere, in all the reality TV shows and tabloid magazines, it obsesses about it.

But that "truth" it wants you to believe is not real. You don't need looks or money or resources to attract high quality women. You can attract certain types of women with those things, no doubt, but those are not quality human beings. You will attract desperate humans who are starving for resources. If women are attracted to you because of your resources or your good looks or anything other than your intrinsic qualities, they will leave as soon as you lose those things or they get bored with them. But if you can attract a women with your personality, character and lifestyle, she cannot steal that from you and she will be constantly trying to satisfy you and win your affection just so she can be included in your life.
