Well the answer to the title's question is that it would take both foresight and true appreciation for the type of man she now seeks. This woman would not be a single mother if she had both of these traits. Foresight could save her from becoming a single mother in the first place regardless of any other factors. Appreciating a man who is responsible and good father material would mean that she would have to not ever choose the kind of man that knocked her up.

A typical single mother anywhere cannot ask for a man of higher value than the baby daddy whom she laid with to produce an out-of-wedlock kid. Women’s inability to control their dual-mating strategy in their most fertile years doesn’t give them bargaining chips later on when they’re “ready for a serious man (sucker),” only a scarlet letter for coming with baggage and nonsense. A serious man of purpose would sooner go without female contact than pick up this leftover pile of nope—because low-tier women with baggage are a shitty deal and make terrible partners for men who have their stuff together. That would be the man settling for less than he deserves in such a case. Big nope.

Look how women believe we men shouldn’t have any standards for them (i.e., rating and choosing them according to their fitness, cooperativeness, childlessness, body count, femininity, and submissiveness), and that men should just be happy to take whatever’s on the menu like a sex of undiscerning simps. I feel like women are never as desperate as they think they are. Lazy? Probably. They don't want to plan the first date but throw hints at the guy. Instead of having actual conversations with guys, it's so much emphasis on their own clothes. They have a high standard on how guys should dress(until they are desperate) and insist they need to look attractive... to attract guys. But ultimately a lot of guys don't really seem to care about clothes and hardly use that as a metric when comparing girls.

The secret for girls to land decent guys is talking to them in general. Clothes/makeup can all be forgiven. Even a super model body isn't entirely a deal breaker. But heaven forbid they put effort into it. Just them looking nice and that's it.
