The truth is: shitty strategies can work in anything. That doesn't mean you should seek to replicate them. What you're not seeing are the good things the guy is doing, that allow him to do something shitty in addition. For this guy, maybe he's good looking, maybe he has money, maybe he's alpha in bed (which you'd never see), the list goes on.

Every dating strategy you commonly hear about actually has a success rate. Blowing money on women, begging them to date you, patiently waiting in the friend zone, driving 8 hours in the rain. All these work to some extent. What separates the different strategies is how the woman treats you after the strategy works. I have a friend who also always recommends some cringe-y bullshit advice, but it always works for him, because he's in ridiculous shape, and manages to make it work. I've literally heard him tell a waitress before we even order "I'm sorry, I just wanted to say you have the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen", and she melted, basically spending the rest of our meal trying to bone him.

I've always heard the phrase "the exception proves the rule", which never really made sense to me, but I will say that for some guys, different strategies work better than others. Same applies to anything; some guys see more success counting calories, and others counting carbs.

You just gotta modify your strategy based on the feedback you get here. If you find something that works for you, by all means stick with it. But you should always aim to start with solid, practical advice first, and venture out from there if you aren't getting good feedback.
