Watch Seinfeld. It may or may not be that funny to you, but the off the wall observations they make in the show in their conversations tend to be funny to most girls when you make the same observations in conversations. Your observations about societal trends, your pet peeves about people. Like “ it really annoys me how…” Done wrong it can feel and come across as negative and complaining, but if you keep to trivial topics it’s usually funny. For example I was talking to a girl the other day how I hate ads that try to sell an ordinary thing as an extraordinary thing. There was a Pizza Hut ad I’d seen on YouTube that said “finally a pizza that’s designed to be delivered hot and fresh”… What so all your other pizzas weren’t? This in itself isn’t hugely funny, especially not when you’re just reading it on reddit. But my annoyance about it made it funny to her. It does help if you are genuinely annoyed by the things you’re talking about, and not just acting for a joke. Also watch standup comedy to improve your timing and humour generally.
The other thing to do is to come up with a list of interesting things you do about yourself and write them down (only you’ll see it). Things like your hobbies, your interests, unusual or exciting experiences you’ve had. Then reframe each one into a “bait” sentence that can be dropped into conversation. The key is it has to be a bit vague so she feels the need to ask you more about it. For example, I used to be a tv cameraman, and I would say “I was out shooting the other day and” but not elaborate on what I meant by shooting. So she has to ask to find out. Or if you do jiujitsu or something you could stretch your shoulders a little and say “I hurt myself rolling last night” and she’ll likely ask what you mean by “rolling”.
The key is to get her asking questions about you, rather than you interviewing her. That way she will feel way more invested in the conversation and you won’t seem like every other dude who just “asks her about herself”

It’s a classic for a reason. I think we can all agree a lot of the routines are a little outdated now but the core principles are sound. And it’s just a great fucking read. I started learning pickup in like 2012 and those guys were already legends then

When it comes to asking questions, how do you stop the conversation from turning autonomous or like an interview?
[–]StaticNocturne 2 points3 points4 points 3 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
I guess try to comment about whatever they say and inject your own view before moving onto another question unless you're clarifying something they said
[–]UnifiedField9000 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
You have to do it a number of times before they "take the bait" and start to respond to your observations

Yeah it does feel like that sometimes eh
I'm not sure if it's because most women just ain't interested or because they're shit conversationalists

Always talk to everyone. Men, women, old, young, hot, ugly, gay, whatever. I mean like baristas, checkout people in supermarkets, bartenders. That will make it easier when you want to talk to a girl you are interested in. If you want a place to start, talk to guys in sports bars. They will not "reject" you. You can always talk about the game (as in baseball, not Neill Strauss's book). Next up, go to any bar and sit at the bar and talk to the bartender or the person (male or female) sitting next to you. It is not weird to talk to a bartender or another person sitting next to you (unless they are a couple, but they usually don't sit at the bar). Take it from there.
[–]UnifiedField9000 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This is key. It means you’ll always be able to slip into this chatty mode and it won’t feel like an act you put on only when you talk to pretty girls
[–]digitalhomad 7 points8 points9 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Talk and care about people in a genuine way, not a creepy way. If the reason you want to be better at conversation is so you can date and have sex, most people can pick up on that.
Start out being genuine, carrying, and empathetic. No need to have a 30 minute deep conversation, but a light conversation, try to remember what went well, and what didnt.
If you can easily have a conversation with anyone, then it is much easier to have a conversation you are attracted to.
The people who are best at this, can have a conversation with anyone.
Tips on good conversation pieces. Learning where pauses are in the conversation to start talking. Leaning how to interrupt someone but not be weird about it. How to turn a phrase and which one's do well. Eye contact. And at the end of the day, learn the conversation isnt going anywhere and know when to bail.
[–]StaticNocturne 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think the last one is an important point...sometimes, in fact often, I need to remind myself that it's not me, it's them - they either aren't interested or they're terrible conversationalists because they've probably never really had to put much effort into it before especially if they're an attractive woman.

1.Ask a question (ever been bunji jumping?) 2.let her speak 3 relate with your own experience of said question( oh yeah, I remember I was going to go once..but I chickened out...I'm way too scared of heights lol I rather mountain climb or somthing..something where my feet are actually on the ground) show something about yourself...courage,vulnerability, or insight 4.follow up with a another question... Always remembering little detail of what she said and throwing it and commenting it back at her
Rinse repeat. That's convo.....and obviously have fun with it....tell her about herself if your able to pick up on certain things
Seems hard but it can only be perfected thru actually doing it
Get a text buddy even of its not sexual...you can train your brain to respond and texting gives you time to think instead of on the spot
Good luck
[–]pikecat 4 points5 points6 points 3 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
You need to be in the moment and not trying to think of what to say. When you think to yourself, you're failing.
I managed to do this, go from not knowing what to say to saying all of the right things before I knew what I was saying. The bonus to this is that you then focus on the person and feeling of the situation, and when you see this, you better know what to say to this particular person.
I did it by talking to as many people, that I didn't know already, as often as possible. In the beginning it seems hard, but then it becomes fun and you get really good at it.
[–]StaticNocturne 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
If I'm not thinking about what to say then they finish speaking and I'm just left staring at them like a cow that's wandered onto a train track... the right thing doesn't just magically come to me as it apparently does with most other people
[–]pikecat 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
You didn't finish reading my comment it seems.
Skills that you need don't magically appear. You have to practice. I said this in my comment. Practice talking and after some time you will get better. Practice more and you will get great. There's nothing like becoming good at something that you once found so hard. I did it, that's why I'm telling you that it can be done.
When you're thinking of what to say, you are losing, it can be seen in you, and you are not paying attention to the person you're talking to. When all of the right words come out of your mouth before you know what they are, you are winning. In this position, you see the person clearly, how they feel, and it guides you in what to say, and then the girl likes you. I know the difference because I have been in both positions. But getting there takes work. Not hard work, just hard to start, after it's fun.
The only thing that stops you from getting better is the idea that you can't.
I used to be afraid of social events, I didn't know what to say to anyone that I didn't know. So I set out to change this. It was really hard to start. But a few years later I went to a party where I didn't know a single person except one. I got to know almost everyone there and a girl wanted to shag me. Years later, after more practice, I would walk into a bar, spot the hottest girl, not otherwise engaged, and chat her up.
Think positive, do hard things, and you become a better person. Believing that you can't is what prevents you from doing better.

Yeah I like this channel a lot, but I’m having trouble implementing the advice he gives since I tend to forget about them once I’m in the conversation, it’s also hard to implement all of what he says at once.
I think it’s better if I focus on one point then once I get good at it, I go for the next, etc…
[–]OpenHeight6562 1 point2 points3 points 3 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
do you have examples of what he says that you can copy? Are you ever able to stand close to him when he's hitting on a girl?

[–]OpenHeight6562 5 points6 points7 points 3 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Yeah I’m often next to him when he interacts with women, and I sometimes copy what he says.
The thing is that since I’m copying what he’s saying, it feels less natural, and I would like to be able to "create" my own things to say without copying him 24/7
Yeah I work with a guy like that, he's so witty and effortlessly charming it's infuriating... he's had the same partner his whole life so he hasn't capitalized on it in that sense but even though he's in worse shape than me and in his 40s he hypnotizes women when he talks and makes them laugh whenever he wants. Just today these two swedish girls walked by as we were on our break, I made some conversation which got a chuckle then he walks in and has them laughing hysterically.
I'm 6'5 quite articulate, funnier than the average person and have a deep voice, but I've had to try to refine my social skills through reading and watching videos, and even now I often say stupid unsexy stuff and it all still takes conscious effort to be socially calibrated, whereas for other guys like him it's as if they're just tuned into the right frequency.
I guess it could be worse, I could have a horrible stutter like another guy at work, or schizophrenia like my cousin, but I'm still waiting for the day when my social skills and charm feels effortless and not like something I need to work at.
And I think my shit memory is also a major handicap... a constant I notice in basically all successful people in all walks of life is their better than average memory. Meanwhile I feel like I've got early dementia.

Stop reading seduction books and do thinks that are ACTUALLY interesting. Your conversation lacks substance because you do.
Be present. You don’t HAVE to be a comedian entertaining the person.
If they are actually engaging and like you, it’s more lax and actually easier to be Mr funny man.

Stop trying bro. Be in the present, and say what’s in the mind. Observe how the other person react and slowly you’ll start picking up cues.

Just be yourself lord jesus. I make dumbass jokes to women and they laugh. I am also just nice and make it clear I want to get to know them. Women don’t usually want you to view them as an object.

This is literally the sub for seduction. “Just be yourself” is the kind of advice that you could get from your mother. If that was working he wouldn’t need to ask the question. Don’t get me wrong though, I don’t mean he should try to change his whole persona, but people need to acknowledge being more socially calibrated is a learnable skill. You wouldn’t say to anyone trying to learn any other skill like playing an instrument or flying a plane “just be yourself”. There are actual steps and techniques that are better than others and they’re not all innate

Make sure you make more questions that the other person makes to you, then you gonna end as a good listener and you can get a really good feedback from the one you're meeting, so you can realize if you really want to keep going whit that woman or man and you can asking about anything since what you think about the weather till more personal questions, that could be work.
[–]Gaydame 0 points1 point2 points 3 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Ask question (about her) Tease the answer
Also, turn questions into statements, especially cold reading.
Instead of "where are you from?"
"I'm guessing you're from New York, because you have a hard shell but you're really friendly in person." The great thing about cold reads is it doesn't matter if they're right or wrong.
Every sentence she says will have several conversation braches.
I swear most of these "I don't have anything to say" is because dudes don't listen because they're planning their next sentence!

I am female and I love small talk, so maybe I’ll be able to help! The best way to maintain a conversation is finding points of relation with someone. As soon as you find something you’re both passionate about, the conversation just flows. The best way to do this is to ask her a few questions, I like to ask, what do you do in your free time? What things are you passionate about? What is an awesome memory you can share? Or something you have wanted to tell someone but haven’t had the chance to?
Getting started can be a bit stilted, maybe she will struggle finding an answer at first. In that case, you share something about yourself. Whatever she shares, even if it’s something you know nothing about, this is your chance to learn! Say she’s super fascinated by biology, but it was your worst subject in school. Say that! Soon enough, points of relation come up, for instance, she says she loves a good night out bowling with her friends. Oh, you love bowling too! What’s the best game you’ve ever had? Conversation is an ebb and flow in which two people are sharing things about themselves. As soon as something strikes you as interesting, or even if you have no idea what she’s talking about, this is your chance to hear those things. There’s nothing I love more than hearing someone talk about something they love. Their eyes just light up, and they’re able to share something maybe they havent had someone to share it with before. I once had an hour long conversation with my friend about physics, and I know nothing about physics! It was one of the best conversations ever.
Think of a conversation as something that builds, and once you have these points of relation, you can keep building and start talking about other random things. Just say whatever comes to mind if you have to, like maybe comment on the environment of the room, or even the weather, and ask what weather she prefers. It’s really mundane at first, but if someone is interested, it just happens! Good luck :)
Also I realize this is the seduction sub now hahah, but to be more seductive, just make sure to throw in some compliments when she says she is good at something but not too much, you’ll come off as trying too hard if you’re too nice.
