Personally yeah. I just bumped into this subreddit because someone sent me a link to some post but yeah if I get a feeling that someone is “doing PUA” in interactions with me, I’d find a way to peace out. In fact I now have anxiety that someone may be doing it and pretending to just be a person. Feels very performative and dehumanizing, and I’d feel uncomfortable and tbh sad knowing they’re following scripts with a goal in mind. I’m sure this is an unpopular thing to hear on this sub, but figure I’d answer the question as an outsider you might encounter.

There's psychological bias towards noticing and remembering bad examples of a thing.

When they see a dude fail at using some technique, they go "Ewww, a douchey pua!" and when they see a good approach, they just think "wow, he's charming!" without ever realizing that he learned to be charming.

Thus, our community never gets credit for our successes. It sucks, but you can't let such things keep you from doing good work.

Okay… as a woman and a feminist, I see PUA stuff as a red flag. That being said, I empathize strongly with the people who use the strategies and advice because they are seeking connection. I have absolutely no issues with people just trying to better themselves and make relationships. Yes, because women realize that if Undesirable men discover what really turns them on & use it on them then it won’t be good for their sexual strategy at all. Because it becomes creepy and it obfuscates women’s desire if the undesirable men get their hands on the information.

However, PUA material can actually be good for learning social skills for those that are deficient but just don’t abuse it.

If a man makes it his main hobby yes. Meeting new people is normal but not if it's his driving force for anything.

Men being "good" to get women is weird. Men being "good" for themselves and naturally getting more friends and or women's attention is normal.

It's like if you started a hobby to meet women and don't actually care for the hobby that's just ew.

But if you genuinely find interest in doing activities and such and as a side effect meet people and women... that's a green flag

Edit: and to note. If you're honest and don't use any sort of faux crap or manipulation it's ok. But a lot of women don't like it because a few men who are shits ruin it for everyone. If one asshole sleeps with 20 women that's 20 more reserved and hurt women who don't want to hear the benefits of any sort of seduction stuff.
