This past Friday, I texted a girl to have sushi with me at 7:00 that night, she gave a tentative yes. She texts me back closer to dinner apologizing that she isn't in the mood and could we do it Saturday? This was kinda a relief for me because my mood had changed and I wasn't feeling excited about going out. I didn't want to miss out on a good opportunity to pull her chain, so I initially respond, "ah, don't be a cunt". This is hugely out of character for me, and the girl was probably caught off guard by it. We dated years ago, but we're both only recently single and in touch again. A moment after this, I get back to business and follow up, "That's fine, I kinda lost interest in tonight anyways." We text a few more times and I go home from work, clean up, and relax.

At 7:05, I get a text message... "so wait I'm confused, is this tonight or tomorrow?"

She responded so strongly to my (obviously playful) suggestion that she was a c-word that she overrode everything else and the date was on even though I was clear tomorrow was the new plan. I happened to be sitting on my ass with a clear night so I obliged, told her she'd have to wait while I got ready, and then we went out and had a great time.

tl;dr - called a girl a cunt in a text message; then our sushi was delicious

Ugh, I hate when guys text something flirty or wonderfully out of the ordinary but negate it by saying, "lol jk" bc of nerves. It's also along the lines of when people say something evil but try to negate it by saying, "jk :P" Say what you mean & mean what you say, or just SHUT THE FUCK UP.

When it comes to texting, just keep it simple. Don't try to win her over or accompllish anything really, other than telling her it was nice meeting her, and scheduling to meet. You should do all the heavy lifting of creating attraction in your physical interaction with her.

I prefer to just use text for logistics. Backpedaling is ok in text from time to time because it's hard to read intent/etc. over text so it won't be viewed as insecure by women as much as in rea life.

Other than scheduling, texting is an easy way to build a power dynamic if you have anxiety IRL. I'll always call a girl "little lady" or "honey" or something condescending like that, but still flirty enough that she knows the purpose.

This is a moot point. Flirting over text is a crutch. Use it to set up dates and keep the chatter to a minimum.

I agree. Backpedaling will only make you seem that you are not confident.

But be careful who you send it to, if you are having a casual conversation and you're just going to randomly say stuff, it will be off. Bold texting or messaging works most of the time though on hook up apps like Adult Friend Finder. There, you can be 100% bold and straight to the point because most of the people there are looking for fwb.
