I suggest the waking up app created by Sam Harris he does great guided meditations and there are many conversations about relative subjects and many different meditation approaches. Also if you can’t afford the membership you can get one for free by emailing his support staff.

I agree that his starter course is a good place to start, and the “theory” section is incredibly powerful and important, but in my experience it is also good to mix in some other guided meditations. Sometimes Sam’s meditations feel more like intellectual exercise, which is great but I don’t get as much spiritual/zen/flow state feeling out of them. They typically focus on the intellectual exercise of dissolving the illusion of subject-object duality.

Well yes that’s the Vipassana teachings that the duality of subject object is an illusion, experientially. However if you find yourself lost in an intellectual process of thoughts than you’re not meditating, you’re lost in thought. The dissolving of this illusion is not meant to be an intellectual pursuit. However, that’s not to say you shouldn’t try other mediations or continue other practices that give benefit. I like to do body scans every once in a while and also the wim hoff method.

I'm specifically referring to the way he says "now look for the thinker of your thoughts" multiple times almost every Daily Meditation. The problem is that he doesn't know whether or not you've had this insight yet, so he keeps pushing it. But once you've grasped the insight then subsequent mentions of it can be frustrating and have the reverse of the intended effect. Sometimes I feel like he spends so much time trying to get you to have these insights that it actually prevents you from getting to that intellect-free meditation zone. I think his insights are very important, but imo its just one way to think about meditation and it I've found it beneficial to get some other perspectives/guides in the mix as well.

High quality food is cheaper, you just have to take your time actually preparing it. Hit your nearest farmer's market and leave no salad alive. Hit your local butchery and get any meat it, it doesn't have to be the best cut, it needs to have proteins and fats. The money saved and the pride you'll take on eating something made by yourself is uplifting as hell! You're gonna feel like inviting people to your place.

Here’s an unorthodox tip I figured out in lockdown... if you need to do the dishes, and can’t get the motivation - do 20 push-ups. (To your physical ability: 20 on the knees, 4 sets of 5, whatever just don’t stand up till all 20 are done).
When you stand up, your mind will have clicked into the ‘just get it done’ mode. It works 100% of the time.

Its about moderation and balance. Playing videogames becomes a liability when you overdo it and don't make any money with it obviously. Playing WoW or something for 18h/day every week is a big liability for example because you dont really get anything done. Its even worse when you use it to escape your reality all the time rather than actually fixing your problems so you wont have to escape reality in the first place.
Its just not a good time investment imo and Im speaking from many years of personal experience. Play it casually and few times per week is definitely cool but not when it becomes an addiction or interferes with your relationships and stuff.

I understand what your trying to say and personally i am not addicted to video games where it stops me or interferes with the important things i have to do in my life. But im speaking for a good majority of people who play video games(men and teenagers) mostly because they use it as a way from escaping from reality and there is really nothing wrong with that as long as it makes the person happy and as long as they consider it an investment. Everyone has a different opinion as to what an investment means to them but i can definitely agree playing WoW or call of duty for 18 hours a day is definitely a problem.

I have been trying to mediate the last year and I believe it has a lot of benefits. But I get distracted so much and I can not find a nice app that is free and guides me wel. I want to meditate 2 times a day. One normal meditation and 1 at the end of the day about gratitude. I did find a nice gratitude meditation on the free part of meditation moments but during others I get distracted a lot or feel like its not helping me much yet. Any tips?

Op overvalued "lifetime" in that last part. Basically says "pimp your ride and increase demand of you. Yourself is but a shell, when it comes to attraction. Appearances matter more than the real thing". Don't get me wrong, it's not that i disagree entirely with this, but i almost feel like this post is like the other repetitive and annoying "Get a life, the wife will follow", when I'm sure enough doesn't work for a majority that is here looking for advice.
