Dude are you texting her like twice a month? That shows you’re not into her when clearly you are and she Che could be texting another dude nonstop. Be interesting, know what to talk about, get to know the girl more, talk about your interests, make silly jokes, talk about current events, be you, just do anything but check up on her to see if she’s “Alright.” be the guy she wants to text to and enjoy with. Forget this game your thinking of and don’t play with her feelings. I’m not sure if you’re trying to get into a relationship but if that’s the case you need to step it up for sure. That’s my two cents.
[–]The-Real-Ivivik 70 points71 points72 points 6 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
This is going to be the point that if she’s interested in you, she’ll be texting you and showing that she’s interested because odds are she is stuck at home bored. If she is not texting you, or making short conversations, or leave you on read, then it’s time to find another girl who is interested in you.

I got recently left on read by a girl, just been 24 hours. Usually we do talk for talks and make sure but we just came out of an argument and reconciled things. Any tips on how to take it from here?
[–]ReturningSpider 9 points10 points11 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Just move on don’t waste your time. If she usually responds quick and isn’t doing it anymore odds are she lost interest
[–]_benigngunner_ 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
She does reply quick though. But I thought since we just reconciled, wanted to give her a bit space didn't want to act like a desperate.
[–]ReturningSpider 8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Leaving on read for 24 hours is not a quick reply. I guess we will see how it ends up lol. I’m a bit of a grouchy old man so I have pretty much 0 tolerance for this stuff
[–]daveinpublic 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I would say to leave it be. Sometimes girls need a little break, and a few days later she will text something like, sorry I was doing x y z.
I mean, personally I would say if she doesn’t get back to you after a day or 2 and you still really like her, feel free to try a little harder at it, say something funny and tell her why you want her to respond.

To be fair I’ve had friends say they’ve been purposely keeping themselves busy and avoiding their phones as much as possible cause isolation has been hitting them hard.

People CAN use “I was too busy to respond”. There ARE still a lot of people working and otherwise keeping themselves busy to stay sane.

Please don't listen to this guy. Texting isn't meant to substitute face to face contact, it's just there for logistics. Getting to know her more and stuff like that are meant to be discussed during a date, not through texting. Sure you can't see her now, but what you do is either call or facetime.
when he said "she could be texting another dude nonstop" shows where his ideas are coming from. He's telling you to text her nonstop so that she doesn't forget about you, and that the only way to get her attention is to give her all of yours.
Speaking from experience, not contacting is ten times better than showering her with texts. Think about it, you're here posting on reddit asking if you should talk to her, but has she even check up on you once ?
EDIT :This is false : "I’m not sure if you’re trying to get into a relationship but if that’s the case you need to step it up for sure. " You don't wanna be trying to "get" into a relationship, that's probably the easiest way to get into a toxic relationship, and to get attached too soon. You wanna be open to a relationship, not trying to get into one.
[–]Uniflite707 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
This. Call or FaceTime. But, I’m still struggling with this entire thing though. I met someone as CV was ramping up, went on two dates, and now everyone’s on lockdown and we can’t see each other. I don’t believe this is going to be over soon, so feeling like the current world situation is putting a major wrench into dating in general because of the lack of being able to be in person. Been chatting with this girl for weeks (about once a week) and the lack of physical escalation while I’m “getting to know her” has me way out of my dating comfort zone. The result is I feel like I’m becoming friends with her, since there can be no intimacy simultaneously occurring. It’s exactly the opposite of what seduction is supposed to be. We are supposed to minimize all contact other than in person. Here we have the polar opposite… no in person, therefore it’s counterproductive to the end goal. Very challenging.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
the lockdown can either be good for you or bad, you can either see it as a stop to your dating life, or an excuse to invite girls over because there are no open restaurants.
Google about dicarlo escalation ladder, it helps a lot. I think physical escalation is probably the most important thing you can do with a woman you're interested in. And be careful to feel the girl from now and then and see if she reciprocates with her touches, because if she's not then she's probably not that into you (yet) and you need to back up a step.
[–]texxmix 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Let’s be real tho. If you don’t think a girl is texting the guy she’s actually interested in pretty frequently in a way that’s way more than just setting up dates then that’s pretty naive.
I always hate the only text to set up dates thing. As if most of the people posting here and the people they are going for didn’t grow up with computers with social media and a cell phone in their hand most of the time.
That doesn’t mean tho that all your points are wrong or that all his are right. There’s an art to texting. Texting nonstop is bad but you need to talk enough to be interesting and build attraction. Ya save the heavy hitting really getting to know someone for in person for sure. But being good at communicating through text is important to.
Yes I think you're right, I don't totally agree with the "absolutely no texting other than logistics", but I think that rule is correct when it comes to guys over texting girls, it's just a stepping stone, and it helped me a lot when I was starting to learn about this stuff.
"If you don’t think a girl is texting the guy she’s actually interested in pretty frequently in a way that’s way more than just setting up dates then that’s pretty naive."
I didn't exactly mean that, of course when she's initiating contact it's ok, but what's not ok is you chasing her ( chasing, not pursuing ) and texting nonstop to overcompensate on your insecurities.
I was kinda pissed due to this phrase that's why I might have exaggerated : "be the guy she wants to text to and enjoy with."
Like, no, you don't wanna be that guy. You don't wanna be a text buddy, you're not one of her girlfriends.

This sub is so fking confusing.
One thread everyone will say, never text unless you absolutely need to. The more you text, the more likely you are to fuck it all up.
Another thread will say, not texting her shows youre not interested so think of something you should be talking about and text her otherwise she will be texting someone else.

At the end of the day it’s your decision. I did what I did and I got my very first relationship. How did I do it? I texted every girl I could and remained to be as interesting as I could be. Some didn’t find me attractive or lost interest and I moved on, it was like that for a month but I finally got the girl that loves me for who I am and we message each other everyday constantly during quarantine and we FaceTime almost every night. Be who you want to be and don’t take account of how other people get in relationships TOO MUCH.
[–]texxmix 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I think it’s a balance. Don’t be dry af but don’t be blowing up her phone non stop.
[–]ezulo 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
This was exactly my mentality with a girl I was seeing and she broke it off. Just FYI there is a fine line between being interested and being needy. And I was video calling her just once a week.
[–]The-Real-Ivivik 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
Video calling her once a week is not being needy, she just lost interest in you. I’ve been on my first relationship for almost 2 months and me and my girl text each other everyday and FaceTime every night because we love each other that much.
[–]ezulo 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Well you're not entirely wrong but I think the issue is multifaceted. In my situation I had only just met this girl prior to quarantine and we had a couple of great dates but didn't really take it further yet. She had also made plans to move away and wasn't sure when she would return. Those were likely factors, but her wording when she called me to break it off was along the lines of "you seem really ready to commit and I'm just not at the same level right now". To me that seemed like a nice way to say she thought I was needy.
It depends on the situation man. If you're already in a relationship it's a no brainer, but if it's someone you've just started going on dates with there is a fine line.
Yeah for sure I get that. It’s unfortunate she didn’t feel the commitment like you did. Remember there are plenty of other girls that are just as good (if not better) then your previous dates.

yeah we had just barely met and were about to go out when this happened.
but no it's not to "check in" on the status of the date, it's to just check in since she said initially she was feeling a bit under the weather.

I was in the same place. Agreed to go on a date but pandemic hit. We talked over text for a few weeks and then we said fuck it and went on a date. Now I feel like I'm catching feels and giving her too much attention overall but I don't want her to lose interest either.
[–]Notessentialworker 32 points33 points34 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Nah it will lead to friendzone, you think you can make her catch feelings through text what are you 14 year old? You attract in person and you use texting as a way to schedule a meeting and check up on her. You haven’t been out on a date yet but you want to entertain her for a few months? What’s that gonna do? She will only benefit from this, if you already treating her like you care for her she will take you for granted when she hasn’t even invested in you yet. Focus on yourself. You been stuck thinking about the same girl through out lockdown do you not have anything to do? Goals to accomplish? Go and talk to her everyday and you will see that there will nothing left after this pandemic. You see she hasn’t texted you but you still thinking of her after weeks, what makes you think she ain’t thinking about you if she’s really feeling you? Don’t waste your time entertains someone for weeks and thinking about them when they haven’t done shit for you.

THIS. A lot of people give advices around here and get more upvotes, when advices like this get overlooked.
Listen, OP, now is the best time in the last 100 years to actually work on yourself. Training at home, reading, making art, cooking — whatever your heart desires. Women, they come and go. But if you better yourself, women will always come to you. Don’t waste your time by texting a girl you haven’t even met.
[–]samsabz 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
That's good advice, if your forced to constantly talk to her to keep her interest up than that's a problem in my opinion.
[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I don't want to entertain her, but I want to get the date when this coronavirus gets easier to deal w
[–]Notessentialworker 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
A girl can flake on you 2 days before the date, what makes you think she ain’t gonna flake 2 months before the date. They are emotional creatures, they agree based on what they feeling right now, even if she says yes now, 1 month later her feelings will be different. In my experience, I haven’t talk to some girls in months and when I ask them to go out they still say yes regardless if they speaking to someone else. The point is I left imprint on them, I engage their emotions in person and leave something they remember by. You’re the guy you meant to be the strong one, the one that gets check up on. If you still thinking about this girl even if you two don’t talk everyday that mean she left an imprint on you meaning she seduce you, you are in the feminine position right now. You can’t live without her she can live without you. Be strong my guy. Find way to past time and when is all set and done try then. It’s better that way from experience.
Don’t forget every girl is different, just like every guy is. The advice you’re responding to is not certain even though the guy says it like he’s obviously right (are you 14?). Case in point, I’ve texted girls out of nowhere and it escalated even though we hadn’t talked for months.
Really, I would say it’s fine to text a girl if you’re going to have good energy, and you’re in a good place mentally to talk, and don’t escalate to high when she’s not into the conversation. She has a life and random stuff every day. So if you start texting, keep it light, wait for her to engage, once her interest level rises you’ll want to open up, and that will make it feel interesting for her... like there’s a payoff that comes from getting closer to you... but don’t get open out of the blue, then it will feel unwanted and unnatural. Maybe she starts texting back and forth more quickly when she senses that good energy and her day is clearing up and she’s free to text, then when things are picking up, consider saying something more sensitive, like I was so ready to meet you then thjs pandemic came out of nowhere. You know, letting her transition into developing feelings. But I’m talking from my perspective, it has to make sense to you. If you just do what I say then it’s mechanical and it will fall apart.
[–]LaithBushnaq 4 points5 points6 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Same thing happened to me brother, but cutting out the communication that long is not the solution.
Find ways to stay connected. For me, I enjoyed streaming a movie through Netflix party with the person I met pre-quarantine. I’m sure you’ll both find a common activity to enjoy some quality time together
[–][deleted] 11 points12 points13 points 6 years ago (17 children) | Copy Link
Okay, I think I can provide a decent perspective on this because I am a girl who happens to be texting a guy that I "met" (not in person yet) on Bumble and we have been talking since the very beginning of March. I felt most connected to and excited about this boy when we would both be texting eachother back and forth, conversation flowing naturally with witty banter, teasing, and genuine questions about the other. Unfortunately that's slowed down quite a bit and now I'm left wondering if he's lost interest or if I'm overthinking. My point here is, if you feel this urge to text her and have some actual conversations here and there, I totally say go for it. Personally, as a girl, I can tell you that when I'm interested in a boy who reaches out to me, I do not leave him on read and my replies are all contributing to and moving the conversation forward. When I'm not interested, I will reply out of politeness but my replies will not contain much substance and will not move the conversation forward. Both these patterns will be consistent whether they're signs of interest or disinterest, and after a while of texting you can typically pick up someone's energy.
So, to me it seems obvious you WANT to text her, the only thing stopping you is worries about what SHE may think. So, do it. Send a meme, ask a question, make a funny remark about something you guys have talked about. Those are the conversations that people find interesting. Do it because YOU want to, you're a confident man so own that, and you have nothing to lose bc either way this will give you more insight on her vibe towards you based on how the texting energy is.
[–]NotyouraverageAA 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Just wondering do you ever find yourself texting him first? Or do you only reply when he texts you? Im talking to a girl I met before quarantine who only does the latter and I'm pretty close to giving up on talking to her.
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I text him first too. I'd say it's actually quite balanced with how often either of us are starting conversation. How often do you and this girl text? How do you feel like her energy is over text? Do her responses push the conversation forward? It's a good sign if she asks you questions. Also, what kind of convos do you have over text?
[–]MereanaGlersgov 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I have a similar problem. I’ve been talking to this girl during quarantine who I haven’t met yet, but I’ve been messaging her almost everyday, tho I’m trying to text her less. It’s weird, because she keeps the conversation going, but never messages me first. She also takes 30 mins - 2 hours to reply back, but again she puts in some effort into the conversation (sending memes, elaborating on certain topics, asks questions). I kinda gave up on this girl tbh. Should I keep talking to her?
[–]NotyouraverageAA 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
We were texting about once a week but I've been waiting a week to see if she'll message me at all. Her energy is okay, it's friendly but not fun or flirty. Whenever I've mentioned trying to drive to her place or making a joke she doesn't follow up on it. We've mostly been talking about COVID-19 related stuff because she seems concerned about it. Honestly there wasn't much hope with her to begin with because she was planning on changing schools in a few months.
[–]daveinpublic 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I find many girls are lazy in this area. Kind like OP won’t even respond to your question. You basically have to be like Walt Disney and convince the girl that there’s magic happening, otherwise she doesn’t ‘feel’ like the relationship is working. And once married, they want you to keep it up, and after 10 years will say stuff like, he doesn’t put work in anymore, he doesn’t take me on dates anymore. But girls can be less lazy in other areas, like keeping a house clean and making food... if a guy stays home all day he’ll just jack off and get on Reddit. A girl will clean the whole place and get groceries and ask you what dinner you want. So it’s a toss up, but if you have a girl you like it’s worth keeping her entertained at times.
Lol I disagree about your "Walt Disney" comment. Keep in mind with everything I've said, my relationship with this guy exists entirely through text alone. I haven't met him. So that's why I am more in my head about things like reading his energy and attitude. In an ideal world where Quarantine doesn't exist and we can have an in person relationship, I would be able to use our in person interactions as that metric, and texting would just be a tool for supplementary conversation.
I mean my goal is to meet up w her bc I'm not great with texting and tend to usually mess it up unless I get the date early on
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
I'm not saying he should text her daily, my point was that he shouldn't be AFRAID to text her here and there. When Quarantine ends then he should focus on hitting her up to plan the date. Also, I wouldn't hold my breath about her texting him first. We don't know how this girl feels about OP yet.
I'm.not OP, but what is too much ? How much tezting is adequate? Also, as far as calls go, are they good as well?
[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Honestly I think popping in for a convo like once a week at least is fine. For Quarantine calling is a good way to keep in touch if you and the person you are talking to have been connecting well. I know that FaceTime dates have been a really popular idea recently. In my opinion, it's about keeping interest and connection until Quarantine ends so that ideally you can date IRL.
I'll take this advice seriously. Thank you. And I too think the once a week call is adequate.

[–]daveinpublic 2 points3 points4 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Girls are actually very similar to guys. Just imagine you’re talking with a girl and she’s interested in you and is texting you a lot. You decide to leave her on read for a day, what does it mean?
[–]RedWaffle12345 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
As far as asking a fish how to catch a fish some of this is useful but don’t be doing back flips to raise someone’s interest, focus on being the best you
[–]luckoftheblirish 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
How long did the conversation stay on bumble? Did he ask for your number and then text you off the app?
We talked on Bumble for like 2 days and then he asked for my other social media and we've been texting off the app ever since.
[–]RedWaffle12345 8 points9 points10 points 6 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link
Are you going to fight for her attention against the other lads and try get to the top? Do some back flips in hope she chooses you? Unless this girl has chosen you and has high interest just leave it be.
You’re not really in a position to put her through her emotions so she’s likely to get bored if you text her all the time. Watch that attraction drop and when it does any attempt to raise it back up will look like your chasing and fuck it all up.
You understand that neediness is unattractive but you need to value your time, you can’t have a relationship over texting so pull back completely. Your options are:
1) pull back and hit her up after this is over
2) pull back, she either checks in or you don’t speak. Gauge into a conversation with her but end it around it’s peak. Be consistently inconsistent. This will do your head in Id attraction goes up and down.
3) you check in and she sees it as your looking for validation to see if she still likes you, this then fucks up for good.
interesting, my thoughts are similar
[–]astraeastrae 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
As a woman a wholeheartedly disagree with this advice. This is game playing and if she’s really into you all this will do is make her think you’re not interested and she will move on. If I had been talking to a guy before all this happened and he stopped texting me during the quarantine, I’d think he really wasn’t that interested and/or just wanted sex so he sees no reason to continue talking. If he then hit me up to hang out afterwards, I’d assume he now just wants to hook up. If you really like her and see this as something that could eventually turn into a relationship, there’s nothing wrong with texting just to check in on her and let her know you’re thinking of her. Any woman who is into you would be thrilled to hear from you!
I agree with this sis !

[–]daveinpublic 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link
Cause sometimes girls think something is good but it doesn’t actually work on them. Now you have to be this guys girlfriend and make out with him or your advice doesn’t count.
[–]musicchick112 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
I am so confused by what you just said: “sometimes girls think something is good but it doesn’t actually work on them.” No idea what this means. My advice is completely valid whether or not I date/hookup with the guy.... people make things like this so complicated. If someone likes you you will know, if they don’t it’s pretty simple. You need to show interest if you want to get to know someone. Doesn’t always have to be the guy initiating first either. You need to feel things out and give them a chance to know if you want to move forward with anyone. My advice on showing interest and getting to know someone is not affected by what happens next.
[–]daveinpublic 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I mean, sometimes a girl thinks that a guy should behave one way, but when he behaves that way it doesn’t lead to ‘feelings’. I could be wrong of course. I mean the fact that you’re meeting up means his texting you was a good thing.
But I think there’s a natural connection some people have, and then there’s times where a guy wants a specific girl and there’s not a natural connection, and many times that’s why he comes here. To figure out what that natural connection is and how to get it with someone he’s actually excited about.
[–]musicchick112 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Now I get what you’re saying. I agree with you, but I still think that you have to make some type of effort to develop a girls’ interest. It will show her that you care and want to know her. Atleast if you make the effort, you can gather from context clues/inherent tone of the messages or just how engaged she is to decide whether or not she’s into you. If she’s not feeling it, or if you lose interest, just be honest and move on. Natural connection isn’t easy to come by in dating but you still have to put in effort to see if something could be there.

If you don't want the commitment of messaging her daily yet you want her to still be "warm" when Covid ends I suggest you just make sure she follows you on IG, and then you can keep her engaged with a daily story.
This tactic is good if you are dealing with more than one girl especially. Also it shows a bit less interest on your side then talking to girl directly all the time.
Depending on the types of stories you post you can boost your value in her eyes as well. For example if you post stories on working out she will know you are fit or at least motivated, if you post stories on you playing an instrument or singing she will know you are talented etc.
Text her more if you like her and want to get to know her better.
If you don't like her and want to get to know her better then forget about her
Just be authentic

This is what I can’t stand. It turns me off in itself. “I want to text her more but I don’t want to sound desperate. I feel like when I text her she leaves me on read. I feel like she’s losing interest.” If someone is losing interest in me because my texts are boring or I have to make myself overthink like this then honestly fuck you. My texts my suck but I’m the shit in person.

Depends on how flirtatious things are. If very flirty you can pop a quick message. If it was standard bullshit just hit her up when you can meet.
But don’t worry about it at all. It’s just one of many girls. You should have this same situation with at least 5 women rn. You’ve had plenty of time to create a roster

You should be texting her, I was doing the same thing and then I told her I feel everything is up in the air cause we ain’t talking, and she said she didn’t know that i was still interested, but at the same time try to incorporate some flirting and not only to try and get to know her
[–]yosef33 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link
why are you limiting the amount of texts you're sending? it's not wrong to talk everyday, get to know her man
[–]realfrkshww 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link
Firstly, by texting a girl every day you let her know you got nothing going on. Even when quarantined, she finds a way to entertain herself, yet OP shouldn’t?
Secondly, texting every day is a huge fucking validation. It’s a turn off. Women are driven by uncertainty, and if you give it away like that, she’s gone.
Important to say, that texting is good when she shows high interest. Yet she hasn’t ever messaged OP herself and he keeps chasing.

“Woman are driven by uncertainty”. Tbh, if a guy is uncertain I want nothing to do with him. Just text whenever you feel like, don’t be afraid to show you care. Little games are for teenagers, not dating adults.
[–]musicchick112 1 point2 points3 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
This right here. I mean, a little mysteriousness is always a good thing, but uncertainty is different. You can’t drive yourself nuts wondering when and what you should text. Just be yourself. If the girl doesn’t like you then atleast you can say you were yourself and now shes just someone u can weed out as a potential girlfriend. Nothing is more attractive than showing a girl you are interested, making her feel like you care, and not trying to be anything your not!

I’m a woman. But if that number is important to you, I think three.
Thanks for explaining to me, a woman, how we like to be seduced.
[–]yosef33 3 points4 points5 points 6 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
In his case, she clearly sounds uninterested since she doesn't text him at all and I think he should let go or hit her up when things are cool again. However you need to open your eyes and realise every woman is different. The majority of women I've met love to text/talk everyday even if we're just casual friends after a long period of time. Not everyone is interested in playing those dumb little "dont text too often" games. Also, the whole world is on lockdown pretty much. No reason to pretend you're super busy everyday (unless you are) infront of your computer with your phone around.
"Women are driven by uncertainty" miss me with that corny shit
[–]realfrkshww 0 points1 point2 points 6 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
In your case, texting is fine. I thought nobody stays in the friendzone anymore, yet there are people like you. Yeah, if you’d like to be friends with a girl, the top comment will do.
Also, about «dumb little games». Dude, you’re on r/seduction, there’s a fucking reason it’s called a game. Simply put, people play it, and because the majority of people around here are virgins in their 20’s, you have two options: either you better yourself, or fake it. Either you play, or you’re played.
Edit: my girlfriend, who I’m in a relationship right now, confessed to me, that her offering to be in one was because of her feelings and uncertainty. She’s didn’t know what I felt so she tried.
You need to text her more man. Don't over do it but keep touching base every few days, maybe ask her how her apocalypse is going. If you come across something interesting maybe share it with her by text.
