I should note, I'm only a year deep in this subreddit but have come a long way. I'm 28, average height, not out of shape.

I went to a local pub before about 40 minutes before closing in an area I've just moved to. Was kind of on the cougar hunt, but not expecting much since I've NEVER approached anyone in a bar (all my success is from online dating).

I sat down across from some guy in the middle of a pub and asked if anyone was sitting there. Nope. A girl came and sat down and he went to the toilet. She eyed me up a bit and it felt kind of weird to not say something.

NOTE: This was in the middle of the pub at one of those standing tables. Not a private table in the corner or something. The pub was busy and this was one of the few seats available. It was normal for me to be stood/sat there having a quiet drink.

She said this was her date so I asked her how he was doing and started playing around, grading him etc, she said he wasn't really her cup of tea.

Then he came back and she introduced me to him. We started chatting but I said just ignore me, I'm chilling - genuinely was and didn't really care about this chick. Was scoping the bar.

They get into some convo but I can immediately see why she wasn't interested.

This guy was, appearance wise, more attractive, but his mannerisms screamed horny young boy... and he was 35.

A few things I noticed he did wrong was he talked way too much, too fast, threw out wild negative assumptions about her ("you analyse everything"), and agreed with everything she said.

She said she was a feminist and he got me involved in the convo "Ask ____". I disagreed with her idea that men and women are equal in every way. He was shocked, she was wet.

The place started to close and we walked out. Near the exit she slipped a note under my arm with her number.

Again, this was not intentional at all. Although I'm now seeing perhaps I should have walked away when I could see I was intruding somewhat.

Feel free to downvote me for breaking the bro-code. All I wanted to do was share this story to illustrate how ruthless women can be (I didn't know stuff like this happened), and also to ask a question - how could he have managed this better? Moved her? Told me to leave?

Knowing this is possible, I will certainly be more sensitive to it in the future and walk away.
