The context:

  • I have only had sex once, and I've never had a girlfriend. Therefore, I have little knowledge about the etiquette and practical knowledge of taking a girl home.

  • Logistics are not a problem -- it's usually a 5-minute walking distance to my place.

My current level:

  • I have no problem with escalating to a make-out with a girl.

  • I am becoming increasingly comfortable with the idea of taking a girl home, and more inclined to actively do it.

The problem:

  • I don't really know what to do or say to actually take her home after I've reached make-out-esque levels of intimacy at the club, and/or:

  • I don't know how to show intent, create sexual tension, or create the otherwise mutual implicit knowledge that it's going to go down tonight.

Let me illustrate with an example. My best friend (female) recently mentioned that her favorite lay had said "come, let's go for a walk", and that it was very obvious to her that they would be having sex. So last weekend, I met a girl at a club who I danced with and made out with several times. I used the exact same line, and she agreed to follow. I was certain that I was going to get laid, but in the end, she seemed oblivious to that intent. We had normal fun conversation, and when we were close to my home, she casually implied that "anyway I'm heading home" in a non-dismissive manner. I asked if she wanted to follow me up to my apartment, to which she said "not tonight". I took her number and kissed her goodbye.

What's the missing ingredient that would make her eagerly follow me up to my apartment without for a second questioning it? I don't get it. I'm pretty certain that I'm not creating enough sexual tension, but I have no idea how to create it. I have no current desire to explicitly tell girls that I'm going to have sex with them, and I'm pretty sure that's not how people normally do it anyway.

Help please?
