That's not what game is about. Game is about being emotionally relevant. Looking like a stud is an emotional trigger for girls, but equally so is rock solid confidence or exciting/sexual communication.

OP, go out to a bar or club and do this: approach girls such that you spend almost no time out of interactions during the night. Homely girls, fat girls, old girls, hot ones, it doesn't matter. You don't have to fuck them, just do the exercise. I don't give a shit if you don't like "club girls" this works anywhere. Go up, and instead of doing the whole boring introduction: talk about your drive to work or describe your home, but do so in the most authoritative and exciting way possible. Really get into it, like you're a world leader or talking about the best story ever, divorce the emotion from the content. You will get a range of reactions, some will look at you like you're a fucking weirdo, and some will be captivated. Make sure you do this on the stunners as well. Counterintuitively, this works best on stunners and ugly girls. The ones in the middle tend to respond less well. Just try it, and it'll be eye-opening. If you aren't approaching 30+ girls in a difficult night or ending up in long interactions in a good one, you're doing it wrong. Also, don't judge yourself if an approach doesn't go well, always imagine it went amazingly so your mood improves over the course of the night. You can critique after the night is over.

Looks matter the same for both sexes. Luckily, there's some variance in 'taste' so it's all about playing the numbers game until you open a girl who thinks you're hot, even if you aren't traditionally handsome (them girls are out there. I've banged a few beautiful girls and i'm on the ugly side)

Looks do matter a lot, and handsome men will downplay it because they want to think they have mastered game or that they're smart etc.

Now, I'm not a good looking attractive man, and I've gotten way more than my share of women. But I've seen time and again, women ditching less attractive men as soon as a handsome man shows up.

Sure you still need game when you're good looking, but you can afford to make a lot more mistakes, women will overlook and forgive your faults more. You also get more choices of women, so it's just easier all around.

Luckily I find the handsome men are ignoring the average girls, so you gotta go a rung lower to find a lot of success. And they are also more likely to be douche bags since they can get away with bad behavior due to their looks. Which is another opening when girls get tired of that and start giving guys without looks a chance.

If you reach a certain threshold in looks, it won't matter anymore. And that threshold is lower than you'd think most of the time (basically don't be physically repulsive, that's all). Most hot girls had sex with uglier guys than you before.

I (29F) get what you're saying, but I would say that looks get you the attention, but aren't enough to sustain interest in the longer term (ie. dating and relationships). If we're only talking hookups, I'd agree with you, but otherwise, I find that personality and genuinely liking yourself/having confidence in who you are affects how attractive you come across.

Ex: I'm between a 7.5-8.5, and when seeing guys that are 8-9s physically, I have found myself looking at their perfect face wondering why I wasn't attracted to them, while I have been around guys that were 4-6s who were so hilarious and warm that I was suuuuper attracted to and wanted to date them.

So yes, obviously looks do matter, but so does a sense of humor, confidence (loving who you are and not caring what other people think of you), passion/fun, kindness, intelligence, social intelligence, etc.

Yes, looks matter from the perspective of odds: better looking you are, the better odds you will have with women, all else being equal. That's why you should strive to look your best (hit the gym, dress well, figure out the right "look' (facial hair/hair etc.). However, it's "all else being equal". There is plenty that is attractive that isn't looks. You can change those things, often more easily than you can change your looks.

Attraction for women is a lot more than your looks. Posture, confidence, achievement, intelligence, humor and frame all matter just as much. You can attract them as long as you have some/most of these. And as a man you can improve your looks by lifting, grooming and clothes.
