Jesus fuck do I hate peacocking. I honestly think it's so... ridiculous.

You want to know what will make you stand out? Be well dressed. And I don't just mean wear a nice shirt and some fucking designer jeans that you spent too much on because of the label they've got on the back, for fucks sake.

Get your shirts tailored, find jeans that fit you properly. In fact, fuck jeans, go out rocking some badass slacks because unless you're at a really high end night club, most people won't be wearing slacks. Keep the colors neutral/matching and then make the outfit pop with some interesting shoes, a nice watch, and/or a badass tie. Look fucking slick, for fuck's sake.

I went out the other night wearing a pastel pink oxford shirt, slim fit khakis, a blue Burberry tie, and a navy blue blazer. The shirt, pants, and jacket I've all had tailored to fit me perfectly. I got more attention than you can imagine. I was at a casual bar/club where most guys were in the standard night club uniform of dark jeans, striped, ill fitting dress shirt, and some shit shoes they bought from Aldo on sale for $35. I stood out in the best way possible. Not because I had some gimmicky shit hanging from my neck, but because I was one of the very few men there that really knew how to dress well. I received compliments all night from both men and women.

doesnt necessarily have to be excessive...just something that sets you apart. if you're going to a club where everybody is going to be wearing jeans and a striped polo...jeans and a white t-shirt will make you stand out - particularly if there are black lights...of course you can always upgrade to the blazer too. going to a college town? instead of wearing that school's logo...wear something berating their arch-rival. instead of "go us" you'll get a lot of high-fives and "fuck thems".

i knew a guy that always wore goggles to bars and such. girls would ask about them and he'd call them his beer goggles...and say he might need them for her later that night...anything that draws attention to you. as long as your attitude matches the piece...you can rock it. imagine a guy wearing glasses, a pink boa, and sitting by himself at the bar slouched over. lame. but imagine a guy wearing beer goggles, a pink boa, and getting a group of guys laughing their asses off at his jokes? big difference. first guy is creepy. second guy is interesting...because its suddenly obvious who the life of the party is.

I personally go with this checklist:

Compare what you are wearing to a car. Does it look like a great paint job or like your blind neighbor spraypainted it with neon colors? Basically does the thing make you stand out in a good way or a bad way.
Is what you are wearing something you actually like and fits with your persona?

If those are both positive then go for it. If they are not... do not do it. It isn't for attention seeking. It is to personify your inner game and personality. It must fit you.

That is how I take it... so far.

Uh... Peacocking? That... actually works? I know I have a lot of success making fun of people like that with the girls I'm hanging out with, so... Thank you for the unintentional assist, I guess?

I just go out in clean, unassuming clothes. Jeans and a t-shirt, man. Save the suits and whatnot for formal occasions -- when I'm clubbing, I want to be prepared for the drunk asshole who tries to pick a fight with me because the girl he likes is showing me attention. And I'd much rather not get blood on my nice clothes.
