I read it. It's great as a novel, but it's definitely not an instruction manual for pickup. Many chumps have gone astray, using only The Game as their instructions.

Read it. I personally find it a great introduction to the seduction world, but that's all there is to it, save for Strauss' good writing style (see what I did there?).

I read most of it, but not as a dating bible. About two years ago I saw some dating advice on askmen.com, by David DeAngelo, I thought it was pretty solid advice. I saw that he had some programs, but it seemed like it was all a scam. I pirated some of his stuff, and it turned out to be pretty good quality, a month later I bought some of his stuff. Through that I learned about about the community and mystery, read his book, and eventually found out that the game was a pretty big deal. I read most of the book knowing all of the "techniques" ( especially after reading the MM), so, unfortunately, the book didn't have a giant impact on me; however it has good stories, and it's fun to read.

I ready it cover to cover in what was a personal record for me reading a book all the way through that fast. To me it's less an instruction manual and more of a window into what's possible. I believe Strauss has characterized it in the same light over the years when questioned about it.

I read it. At the time it was pretty mind expanding. At the same time it did a pretty shitty job at describing what attraction is. Makes it seem that it's about manipulation and scripted lines. I feel it was done on purpose so that more people would turn to PUA companies.

I read the entire thing and used some of his background reading material such as NLP myself to gain a better understanding myself. I think everyone in the seduction community should read it for this reason (quoting audioteca):

The Game - so you'll know what happens when you invest too much time into this. Don't ever let pick-up become your only life.

Read it twice, IRC'd with a few of the guys mentioned.

It is neither of those things. It is an insightful look into the lives of a few key member of the PUA movement in the early 2000's. It has commentaries on pick-up technique and lifestyle from a true outsider with a great voice.

It's not a bible, it's not outdated. It's just a "travel journal" of one guy's view on the community.

I picked it up when I was backpacking in Thailand. I liked the book, but a bible? No, I don't really see it as a bible. It made the game known to a lot more people and it kinda connects people I guess.

The Game is the first book I read, and really got me excited about the possibility of actually going out to pick-up chicks. That's about what it's good for, beyond just being a good read. I certainly wouldn't call it a bible. Strauss actually followed this up with the Stylelife Challenge, which was more of an instructional book on pick-up. However, in the community, there is a trend away from routines and a structured pick-up methodology to natural game and deep inner-confidence.
