I remember entering a cruise filled with medical students and I wanted a fruity cocktail so I ordered Sex on the beach. I recall the bartenders talking about how they also would want sex on a beach. Anyways il get my drink and sit down on a table and all of sudden a guy comes and asks me if i want to do something fun. I didn't quite get it so I said I was fine. Then he invited me to his cabin and it started to seem suspicous to me. I said that im here to enjoy my drink and we will see where il go next. Then he asks if i liked girls which I did do. So he went and did awful job asking girls if they wanted me. After him not being succesful he gave another try to get me in his cabin. At this point i wasnt sure if he was on drugs or what the hell was going on in his mind. About 2-3 minutes pass by and im done half way with my drink when another guy approaches me and asks if i want to dance with him. At this point i the dots in my head connected and i remembered that sex on the beach is a gay drink. After that experince I realized that I haven't thought myself before that I was attractive man at the time. It clicked in my head that assumptions are dangerous and holding us back. We assume too freaking much and should take a chill pill when preparing mentally going to a club/bar.

This post is great, but just wanted to sneak in a little female perspective about the op's last point. I'm okay with and even enjoy being catcalled - in the daytime, when there are tons of people around, when I'm with my friends, when I'm sober. Catcall away. But you start doing that shit at night when I'm walking alone? I will not care how flattering or attractive you are, I will get immediately scared and I most definitely will not respond positively to you. Context is everything. And frankly, I'd be way more receptive to someone who understands that I'm gonna be freaked out in that situation.

I mean, I like your post, but it's a bit skewed it seems.

For example, you mention that you only started ignoring it after it happened a lot and you mention that women ignore it. You also mention cat calling being awesome and an ego boost.

I will share the experience I have on those topics and it's that I get ogled by both men and women. I just stand out apparently. I don't think I'm attractive exactly, but I stand out like a sore thumb wherever I go. My presence is known. I get cat called by men and women alike. I ignore all of it usually. Men usually whistle or say "hey baby!", etc. Women shout lewd things like, "Have my fuckin babies!" Or "You're so fuckin hot!" But most often, I get serenaded. Women sing to me a lot.

I have a general expression of ignoring these things like I'm completely oblivious to it. I walk around with an aloofness that attracts attention. It's not just men, it's women too.

I don't think it's about the way men act, I think it's how we act. I think it's how you acted during this time you spent around a larger population of people that showed you that they were attracted. You probably became more "attractive" as you gained that aloof ignorance to their interests.

I can't explain it entirely, but I believe it's entirely the way we act that draws people to us.

Thanks for this post OP.I too am a straight male,a bit long in the tooth,that being said I know I am far from an ugly old fart.

How do I know this?Just like you said.Gay men 'checking me out' or straight up asking me to go home with them.I find it very flattering to say the least.But for the love of me I don't know why gay men are attracted to me.

Very interesting post. I take getting hit on by a gay guy as a compliment, but when you have a really aggressive one who persists after you politely inform them that you're straight, it does sort of put the shoe on the other foot with regard to how the women must feel when they get cornered by a guy that they're not interested in who won't leave them alone.

Being found attractive is always great! :D I work at a high school and is fairly good looking and fit, and my students' often cat calls me or whistle when I need to bend down or wearing tight t-shirts for work. Of course I'm a professional but young people are more talkative and say what they are thinking, and if it's complements it's fun to hear

OP, you have a lot to learn about seduction if that's what you took away from that. It's frightening, violating, and disgusting to essentially hear a stranger's hard on growing at the instant thought of you as a sexual object when you're just trying to run errands or go to work.

You being cat called by a guy is nicer than what I deal with almost daily. You don't have to be afraid they'll follow you, continue to call at you, embarrass you, or come after you/assault you if you don't show you appreciate their "compliment".

You get to accept it at face value that they think you're sexy. You don't have to worry anywhere near as much about what if it doesn't stop at words. It may seem like I'm hyper sensitive to this, but regrettably, there's a reason for it...several men didn't stop at cat calling me.

I originally came to this sub bc I'm a bi married female (we swing) and had no pick up game with girls bc it's hard to tell female to female if we're being nice or if we want your legs over our head. I was hoping I'd find something useful here.

The longer I stay on this sub, the more I realize I'm just here to know my enemy. There's so much bad technique and awful viewpoints on women in general, no wonder so many men strike out.

'Ogle' is spelled with one 'g'.

It's also pronounced "oh-gull," not "ogg-gull." Enough people mispronounced it to where the incorrect pronunciation got added in the dictionary as an alternate pronunciation, but, again, it was only because enough people said it wrong.

Do better than saying "nucular weapon," "fermiliar," or "oggle." It's "oh-gull," like "mogul."
