I once had a date with a girl, and my normal 1st date questions weren't getting anywhere. I would only get very short responses despite the open ended questions. After a while, I said to hell with it and brought up my war on slugs that I recently declared (had a bunch always in my driveway and on sidewalk. Nothing a little bit of salt wouldn't take care of), and how many I had killed in the last few days, well into the triple digits. This actually got her interest and we bonded over our hated of slugs. Needless to say, she went back to my place after dinner, and we salted a bunch of slugs.

Just start with a "How was your day?" and then wing it from there. It only starts feeling like an interview if you have prepared the questions... The conversation being fun is not as much about the questions, but more about how the answers and the flow. It's more about chemistry. That said, you've probably talked/texted about something before meeting up - think it over and you can probably find something interesting or fun to say with previous conversation in mind - this works really well to jumpstart some familarity :)

I am genuinely curious about her musical tastes. I think you can tell a lot about a person from their musical preference, so I like to ask them what songs would be in the soundtrack to a movie about their life.

That allows you to jump to other experiences where you can find similarities or interesting differences (concerts, music festivals, celebrity experiences, road trips, etc, etc). All from just asking her what music she likes.

Anyways, my 2 cents: girls dont give a shit about your questions, they give a shit about your persinality. So focus on getting rid of your need to be perfect, your need to impress, and all the other garbage that hides your personality.

This question comes up every few weeks. Look, it's not about some magical list of questions. It's HOW you conduct a conversation, not exactly what to say.

Point is, you could ask something completely common like, "How was your day?" But the key is what you do after you open your mouth.

Once you finish yapping your mouth to voice the question, shut your mouth and open your ears. And really listen.
When I say "listen," I mean that you should not even be thinking about what you want to say, while her mouth is moving and sound is coming out of it. You should be concentrating on processing what she is saying. That's it.
Once she finishes answering, then you can think about what she just said and then you can follow up with a statement and/or a question about what she just said.

That's it.

On the other hand, what makes you sound like an interview is taking ANY list of questions, even some of the lists below, and doing the following:

Ask a question.
Listen to her answer.
After she finishes her answer, give some sort of short answer and then move on to the next question, which is most likely unrelated to what she just said.

If you do this, it will probably feel like an interview. Why? Because following up her answer with an unrelated question, gives every appearance that you didn't pay attention to what she said or didn't care about what she said.

You are dealing with a person, not a scripted situation. If you just listen to this person, they will give you more than enough material to work with.

Look up stuff on conversation. And watch all the RSDTyler, Todd, julien, jeffy and Alex socials videos on it. They all say different helpful things. RSD julien's is abot how to make interview mode intresting and good wile screening for legistics.

The summation is: lower you standard for what to say. Volunteer a decent amount of infromation when she asks questions. Make jokes. Talk about hypothetical stuff. Flirt.

You should watch those videos tho.

Also assume attraction. Never forget that

It's more how you ask the question than what the question is. It's hard to display this online. Magnify the amplitude in your voice and make her squirm, coming closer to hear you when you get quieter and backing away when your volume is raised.

Other than that i really go with the flow and try and let the other person talk and just listen then if it gets stale throw-in a neg or a joke to keep it going
