Online dating is a great testing ground for openers and general conversation. Hell, you might even get laid out of it. However, my game went from ordinary to extraordinary after I stopped using POF as a crutch to get laid and started interacting with girls in real life more. The virtual world is tempting, but nothing beats real life sarging. Get of POF and go for a walk. Say hi to everyone. Results.

Short answer: do both. Online dating helps you refine your day2/dating skills. Approaching helps you meet new girls. Also according to okcupid statistics, girls tend to message ugly guys just as much as good looking guys, it's not the looks that matter, it's how well written your profile is, and how your pictures are taken, pictures of you showing your face, and doing activities.

My friend who is a pua, was doing online dating before he got into pick up, he said it was so easy to have sex with girls from online dating that he got bored of it and got into cold approaching because he wanted a challenge. He was fclosing about two girls a week. He said doing online dating first helped him refine his dating skills and get over sexual fears, by the time he was cold approaching, he had no fears.

I think dating is a whole different art than approaching. Meeting a girl for a day 2 is like starting all over again but with different rules. You need to know how long to have your date, what day to have it on, where to have it, what kind of activities, how to build momentum over the course of the date, etc.. online dating helps you do this. I got really good at approaching and getting numbers, but my day2s really suck, and I'm still learning how to have dates and constantly learning from mistakes.

So do both, any experience is good experience. You don't want to waste all that effort cold approaching a girl, then losing her on the day2 because you didn't know how to set up a date.

id say less than 10 percent of single girls in that age group have dating profiles. have you looked at an online site? most girls are way fat. real life is not close to that bad. thank god.

and what you have described has been my experience. Where i go out with a girl, have a great date, and kiss close at the end. only to never hear from her again... it bothered me at first because in real life dating, that would of been a big rejection on my ego.

but then i see all the girls who rejected me 2 years ago when i was on last before my recent relationship. still on there now and they are on there all day long. So, they just must do as you describe. and window show for mr. perfect and then get hit and quit.

Three of my chick friends have done online dating. and all have gotten long term relationships off it. Two of the three, have gotten guys BELOW their league off it. the other one got a guy way out of her league looks wise that is just a huge gamer i guess and never leaves the house.

However, all three were serial dating like no other. like sometimes two dates in a day! If i get one girl 6/10 up on there in a week, I had agood week lol. On my scale, only like 20 percent of the girls online are 6/10 and above.

dating in general is all about timing IMO. and online makes it moreso, because these girls are basically dating like crazy and you just have to be there when she gets tired of it.

I once did an experiment on okcupid by creating a fake profile for a super-cute blonde college girl. Her pic was fucking ADORABLE. As I recall, within the first 8 hours, I had around 40 private messages. EVERY-SINGLE-MESSAGE was just sad, rambling messages. It made me feel incredibly sorry for the girls that have to deal with all these creepy, illiterate, needy guys. And it made me very happy, that my competition is so terrible XD

A third point id like to add, Ive thought about this myself. how online dating really just means the best looking guys will be fucking all the girls...

but at the end of the day, it really just is a numbers game. and girls will want relationships. so lets not get carried away here. all this means is that younger guys in there 20s and teens will get rejected alot more on first dates.

Girls I know who tried online dating (specifically POF and OKC, some success with EHarmony) hated it. They said every guy was a horny douche who lied on their profile. In the my experience those sites are entertainment. The girls just want to sit back and be entertained, but not actually go on dates. They like all the attention.

I laughed at this, since recently chose to date the former over the latter. Self-confidence, intelligence, motivation (I don't wanna be a sugar mama), being able to hold interesting conversation, and kindness go a longer way than appearance in attracting women looking for a long-term relationship with someone who isn't a fucking douchebag. Plus I like Asian men. So stop it with that. ;) (but that is a whole different topic)

As a painfully shy lady, I've liked online dating. I also want to meet nerdy guys, as that is who I have things in common with, but they tend to keep to themselves in social situations or just talk to me, and we never exchange #s. I met about a dozen people over 2 months or so from match, went on 3-4 dates with 2 of them. Actually kinda excited to get started with what seems to be a budding relationship with an interesting, intelligent, well-employed, nice guy.

i don't know for you guys, but i am getting some serious problems with these types of sites. I am 23 an average guy 5'11" in shape, i am doing my bachelor's degree in Finance, i know alot of stuff, but i don't tend to show that off even on the first day nor after. I've tried Badoo, and other local website in Canada, and not getting a single response. However one thing gets me furious, is the fact that i am only getting messages from really fat ugly girls. And those girls who respond, don't answer anymore on my reply to their message. I've tried diffrent types of profiles, (serious, fun, mysterious) and many types of messages, some copy pasted, other more personnal. And nothing. So in my case i am just loosing my cash. I don't know if they have some ego problems or maybe they are insecure, i started some cold approches these days. Maybe some of your advices would be greatly appreciated

I know a lot of people and I've checked out okcupid before. I only saw literally a few girls I know on there, and a handful of guys. If it were to become more mainstream, it'd change things a little bit, but not much. Like others have said, what exactly would change? For me, nothing would really change because I don't do online dating. For guys who already do it, it still probably won't change much because they're already dealing with the same situation.

That being said, I don't think it'll ever be mainstream in the way you're talking about (especially not for the 20's age group) because most "normal" people just meet people in real life. And even if it did become way more mainstream somehow, the dynamics don't change. And if it literally became "mainstream," the dynamics would actually be more similar to real life, since more girls AND guys would be online, so girls aren't just picking and choosing from the small group of hot guys, and vice-versa. They'd be picking and choosing from the general population, just like they already do.

Online dating has been a great way for me to move past my fearful AFC days and towards being more comfortable with women. It basically gives me the opportunity to slowly work on one thing at a time and with each real life date I become more comfortable. I definitely have approach anxiety and use it as a crutch, but I'm so much better off due to being able to get dates at all. Hell, I've recently met an HB9 online, gone on a couple dates and she's actually into me! (As a life-long, 26M, geek with self-esteem issues, this amazes me).

What I'm saying is it can be a waste of time, it can be used as a crutch, but it can also be used productively in conjuction with other methods and even used to improve your "game"

I've done online dating. Most messages were poorly constructed and misspelled, and they usually came from men who had nothing in common with me. There were a few jewels in my mailbox, and I followed up on these.

I liked online dating because it was less stressful. I could message more guys and have deeper conversations without feeling drained. It made me less picky.

It also made dating more to the point—less roundabout and mind-gamey—because we both knew why we were there and we both already knew a lot about each other (what we're each looking for, where our interests lie, etc.). I felt comfortable more quickly with guys I met online than guys I met in person, who I was still trying to figure out a couple dates in, and that meant a much quicker, more efficient pursuit with a guy I met online.

I met my boyfriend online. If we met in person, we never would have gotten to know each other well because we're both introverts. But online, our sociable side could flourish and we had all the one-on-one attention in the world. I quickly became closer to him than I've ever felt with anybody. To have achieved this much with me entirely through face-to-face interaction, it would have taken probably a year or more of concerted effort on his part (and he wouldn't have done it).

i posted something similar to this in the okcupid section in a thread where i was discussing how i just wanted to make chick friends online and not date. And why. And got downvoted to oblivion when i mentioned pretty much everything you said in your OP except for the media promulgated ideal bs lol... im tall, white and jacked.

i dont think alot of girls even realize they are overdating and just think guys online all just want sex lol.

Eh, I still think that the majority of really hot girls won't use online dating. They can't leverage their hotness to the maximum via small photos, but putting their asses on display in a club will maximize the appeal.
