Female, Divorced since October, 2019. Not my choice. My ex husband was a great guy and dedicated father who is now content to see his son for only half his life or less since our 10 year old son doesn’t like to stay in our old marital home without me. He told me he turned off a switch in his head and no longer was in love in me last July. Said he’d be a better father after the divorce since we were arguing so much. We’d been together 17 years, married 13. He’s 49. I was very amicable and kind during the divorce. I wanted to remain civil and have grace during this process. We used a mediator and drew up a divorce that was satisfactory to both of us though it was a divorce I never wanted.

I did not request anything from him. I have my own income, retirement. I took less that what I was due from splitting the home equity as he was going to keep the house so that our son could stay in the same school and though not a big financial burden, I’m sure he feels the weight of carrying a home on his own. Traded in the family car for a high speed Audi. Lost weight, grew a goatee, ordered new clothes from stitch fix, continually spoke about his deceased father.

My question is though we’ve heard and joked about a midlife crisis, is this a midlife crisis? Can men flip a switch on being in love? I’d like the opinion of the divorced men. Thanks
