Everyone looks pained in different ways. The mother is steadfast and pissed. Don't mess with her. The new husband is caught in the middle and trying his best to extricate himself without upsetting her (not possible). The bride knows the score but thinks if she perseveres it will work out.

I honestly feel bad for guys like this. The mom can be incredibly domineering and guilt trip her children. A friend of mine has basically been guilt-tripped into becoming his mom's slave/ housekeeper/bodyguard. No relationship has ever worked out because the girl is understandably creeped by this dynamic, and no matter how many times he speaks to his mom she just accuses him of abandoning his mother and he's reeled in.

As someone who was married to a momma’s boy for 8 years, I don’t EVER want to be in that situation again. I recently started talking to this guy who seemed pretty cool, but once he gave me his Hulu account and his mom there under ‘Mommy Dearest,’ I stopped talking to him. I just slowly started to distance myself. Those relationships are hell and you will never be good enough for them
