I think you need to be very careful about oversensitivity towards what gets upvoted/downvoted. Virtually everything that gets posted here gets trolled by a whole cadre of malicious voters. And it's already been shown that other redditors are deliberately posting and voting to make us look bad.

I sort of agree with you, and I actually think the #1 problem is the attitude that MRs on here tend to project. The message is generally sensible and positive, the delivery is overwhelmingly negative, adversarial and bitter.

I've been pissed about double standards for my entire life. It sucks to see women hitting, demeaning, or mocking men when men are socially/culturally forbidden to do the same. I was thrilled to learn there is such a thing as an MRA. I was then disappointed to learn that they seem to think that using juvenile, bitter, (dare I say it, hateful) language and rhetoric is a good idea.

I'm not saying everyone does this, but enough MRAs on reddit put out enough angry vibes to make the whole thing somewhat unpalatable.

2. This is a very emotional topic (who you sleep with), so expect a lot of justification for what "feels right". Ask the average woman on the street what she thinks of sleeping with a man, only to later learn that he was once a she. You'll get similar answers.

3. That's MR's goal, and that was supposed to be the other side's goal too. If MRA's were campaigning to criminalize abortion or exclude women from universities, they'd be called on it for trying to "take rights away". Why is it not ok for us to call out feminists who campaign for men to be treated guilty until proven innocent, or be removed from the life of their children?

4. Wow, so you mean you haven't been outside of r/MR? Like, to the rest of reddit? Or other discussion boards?

5. Look at the logo. Also, MADD not funding breast cancer doesn't mean they don't care about cancer, it's just not their group's focus.

6. Explain. Better yet, provide citations (preferably not ones that are heavily downvoted, unless you want to disprove your point).

7. Again, cite a heavily upvoted comment.

8. If you wish to invoke this point against my comments, I will in turn invoke your point #4.

I agree. I'm on board with a lot of Men's Rights issues. But there is a lot of hatred that makes it hard to hear the movement as a whole.

This is the standard they view us by.

You realize that there are at least 2 subs dedicated to trolling us, down voting threads that make good points and up-voting the stupid, or worse creating puppets to make inflammatory statements.

Although there is a lot of great, information stuff on here, and some great, intelligent, open minded people, I have learned a few things during my couple months' membership to this sub. I thought I'd share.

1. Don't talk about trans women. You'll get downvoted.

Don't purposely troll about trans women. You'll get downvoted.

2. Exception: talk about trans women's obligation to tell all partners they aren't biologically female. Even with the advancements in gender-reassignment, they aren't women. If you sleep with them thinking they are, they have committed rape by deception, and should be punished.

There are many differing opinions on the board. The thread (That I think you are referencing) has many great, honest, and differing opinions on the subject. Some you may agree with, some you may not, but it is discussed without hate speech or inflammatory language.

3. The goal of r/MR is not merely to work from one side of the gender equality goal while feminists work from the other. Feminists are the enemy. They are all in fact Femi-nazis, and won't rest until men are reduced to the lowest rung of society.

"all in fact femi-nazis" Some are, some are not. You haven't been around the board long enough if you think #3 is true.

4. Do not respond logically to any arguments unless you agree and wish to expand. If you respond with logic as a counterpoint, you are trolling, and will be downvoted.

5. r/MR doesn't have to care about groups that are discriminated against except for r/MR. Gays, Women, Minorities, the Disabled-they have their groups, we'll stick to ours. Reaching out only makes us pussies.

Not true, however the least supported minority, by law or social acceptance is men. During a radioshow Paul Elam had a caller who was Black try and turn it into a "Black men have it worse" segment. I agree with Elam's stance, he disconnected the caller and stated that wasn't the point of his radioshow (by extension shouldn't be the point of the MRM). Yes, there are other minority groups, but the LGBT community for example doesn't put forth resources or time into the paternity fraud issue (for example). Not caring =/= not discussing or making the focus of. The above is a straw man argument.

6. Start a Men's Rights group in your home town, at your school, wherever. But don't accommodate to women. Don't let anyone get confused about the purpose of the group. This isn't about gender equality, people, it's about WHAT IS RIGHT!

Where is it written or said to do that? And equality of what? Opportunity or result?

7. You can't support women's rights and men's rights at the same time. It is impossible to want women to have equal rights to men while at the same time wanting to keep men from being discriminated against.

You are doing what many feminists do, conflating women and feminism. Then using the protected status of the former to shield the latter from criticism.

8. Any suggestion, such as this, that this group is somewhat misguided and needs to be restructured, will be met with criticism, scorn, and the fiercest hail of downvotes r/MR has seen.

Upvotes or downvotes (I only get one per topic/post) is by and large better than what dozens of other "morally superior" boards do and delete the posts they don't agree with all-together.

I will, (downvote), but not because I agree or disagree, in this case I am downvoting because the majority of your post is ignorance of the board (And movement?) seeded with hyperbole.

I roll my eyes at your claim you cannot make a Men's Rights group because of MRA's. Have you even tried?

I think #7 is a load of shit. Supporting men's and women's rights is all about equality to me. A right is not a privilige that should make you better than a different group.

A lot of the backlash against political correctness is a direct result of it being PC to cater to women's every whim to pass sexist laws that overreach and harm men and boys today.

Most of those suggestions I disagree with, Ive had good discussions here. I agree though, there are some users who are impossible to debate/discuss topics with because for it to be a debate or discussion, it generally needs to possible to change their minds. Anything else isn't debate, its sales.

You can support womens rights and mens rights. The problem comes if you support special rights for either groups, which is much of why this subreddit exists. Women have special rights, men don't have those special rights.

While I agree with some of your points (although it is VERY generalized), this one is total bullshit. I guess you haven't seen the new logo for this page? The Mensrights group reached out to the LGBT community and received nothing but anger and hate for our efforts.
