Here we spend a lot of time talking about the problems with gender relations and the dating/relationships market in the modern, post-sexual-revolution era. We discuss and critique various gender dynamics and relationship dynamics and identify several issues we believe to be systematic problems.

I want to be constructive now.

How are we going to "fix" things? And is it even possible to fix things?

From where I sit, "fixing" things seems impossible. Men want alpha females (aka "10/10 hotties" in Redpill-ese), Women want alpha males (note that I'm using "alpha" to refer to "attractive on a purely biological level" without specifying what traits count as "alpha", so this is an analytic truism). Demand outstrips supply, for both sexes.

A return to mandatory monogamy will result in a lot of dissatisfied women not getting the alpha dick (and also a few dissatisfied men not getting the alpha pussy).

If we assume a genetically-inbuilt desire to specifically spread one's genes (I don't but I'm doing a thought experiment), women retaining full sexual freedom seems to imply (due to the 80/20 rule) that most men will not be able to spread their genes. This will lead to a lot of depressed, despondent men who may 'drop out' of civilization since they have no future offspring to care about (although this may be somewhat mitigated by kin selection).

We also need to look at the facts - we live in a modern civilization with lots of wealth where both sexes (in general) can (at least mostly) support themselves. The traits which are typically seen as "alpha" in males can be extraordinarily socially destructive (although sometimes constructive), the traits which are typically seen as "beta" in males are arguably the traits upon which our civilization is built. Assuming this is true, we have a Paglia-esque dilemma where the natural urges of women will select for anti-civilization traits and thus destroy civilization.

Disclaimer: the above is a thought-experiment and I don't necessarily endorse it (I would contest several of its premises). I'm just speculating.

So, the question: how can we "fix" things?

I'm going to ask you all:

  1. What are the 'problems' with the state of the dating/relationships arena and gender relations within our society?
  2. Can they be fixed, and if so, how?
  3. How can we preserve sexual freedom and voluntary marriage whilst still addressing the problems?
