The authenticity of the chat transcript sent to this woman is never even called into question. Automatically assumed to be 100% true.

This is literally an attempt to police private conversations. I feel like I'm going insane that no one is questioning any of this. To be clear, the men in question didn't actually chat with the feminist. It was a private chat conversation about her that somehow got out. In some regards, this is an interesting privacy ethics dilemma that has nothing to do with feminism. If you say fucked up stuff with your friends in a private chat and someone gets a hold of that chat, can you be held responsible for what you've said? Likewise, is it a punishable violation for a third party to disseminate a private chat between two (or more) people?

The lame, over-blown feminism side of this issue is that she can decide to take offense at a private chat that never involved her and use that to show that there is "rape culture" on her campus.

Lost a friend after arguing with his girlfriend about this. Said this was a private conversation and guys talk like this ALL the time. Her argument was that I was condoning rape (my buddy literally told me that he thought I said rape was okay wtf??) And that men who are insecure talk like that and real men don't. It would be interesting to hear the whole story. My experience with a lot of female students who have been in a position of power in student government has been that they're unsociable people who are difficult to get along with, and their quest for a good resume often gets in the way of being a decent, likeable person. The way these guys went about talking about her was equally as stupid, but this is basically a case of 4 socially awkward guys saying weird shit about a socially awkward girl. Neither party had the balls to handle it in a normal manner, so they had to go crying to the powers that be. If they were just regular people, they would have been able to settle their differences. Actually no, if they were socially well-adjusted, this wouldn't have happened in the first place.
