"While it may appear humorous, or thought-provoking to some, it has already become a source of undue stress for many Wellesley College students, the majority of whom live, study, and work in this space."

So the image of a man in revealing attire can "assault" women huh?

Since we've opened up the conversation on how clothing choices can constitute assault, can women please stop wearing clothing that reveals any more than the average man? This obviously constitutes an assault on all of us who aren't interested in having female sexuality shoved down our throats until we gag on it and choke on our own vomit.

Particularly if they're going to dance on a table and jiggle their piss flaps in plain view of a crowd (outside of a strip joint or other locale where such displays are expected.)

I fucking hate how female flashers get a pass.

If this were a statue of a life-like bear that provoked fear and alarm when first seen, would objections to the statue on that basis carry the same weight? Of course not. If this were art that mocked Christianity, would objections to such mockery be respected? Not likely.

But make it look like an average looking guy in his underwear, and the women have a conniption. Sleepwalker? No, he's obviously a rapist. And, of course, rape hysteria trumps the First Amendment in the PC hierarchy. Art is entirely appropriate only when it makes mainstream sensibilities uncomfortable; it is wholly inappropriate when it makes feminist sensibilities uncomfortable.

I was just about to post this.Could you imagine men going apeshit over the same kind of statue of a woman on their campus? They wouldnt and if there was one smidgeon of protest it would be meet with cries and accusations of misoginy and sexism. All these women are missing is smelling salts and fainting couches. Jesus.

Also, this comment from the petition page cant be missed:

"Arms outstretched, eyes closed," he lumbers forward, quite literally unable to acknowledge the presence of his (in this context) largely female spectators. What a perfect representation of the world outside of Wellesley, where women and people identifying as women are often subject to a similar ambivalence. "I'm not even conscious that I'm wandering through your lady landscape," the statue says. "I do not have to experience you. I feel about you the same way I feel about the snow. But you have to experience me, and I don't care.What does this statue do if not remind us of the fact of male privilege every single time we pass it, every single time we think about it, every single time we are forced to acknowledge its presence. As if we need any more reminders."

The extent of the brainwashing that sometimes goes into these liberal arts schools is actually alarming.

Looking at the statue, it is clear to me that it lies well within the "uncanny valley" and it is this that is evoking the feelings of discomfort in the spectators. I find it quite telling that the go to response for these feelings of discomfort is to attribute them to "rapeyness". It's almost as if they have no other frame of reference from which to examine these negative feelings. Could it be that they are so indoctrinated by the victim narrative that anything that evokes emotions other than happy feelings is interpreted as an attack on their person?

Let me tell you something. I have visited Wellesley college, and it's one of the most objectifying spaces for a male I've ever been in. The phrase "yeah, we bus boys in" is thrown around all the time, because that literally happens. They literally bus boys in from other college because the girls go crazy. Girls talk about 'dykes' all the time, and 'lesbos' hitting on them, and every room I walked into on a Friday night I was greeted, literally, with "gasp a boy!"

I have a simple but elegant solution.

Put some sort of tool in his hands. A spanner, a toolbox a rake...something like that.
