Whenever people start to claim that our society encourages rape, they usually claim that saying "she was wearing a short skirt and flirting, so it wasn't rape" is an often used defense against rape accusations. This argument is also given as an example of victim blaming.

I have never seen an article about a case where the defendant has actually made this claim in an attempt to get out of rape charges. Have I simply not read the right articles, or is the "she was being promiscuous" argument simply a straw man?
