And I've tried hard to understand why feminism/mens rights should matter at all to me.

Do you have any desire to get married and/or have kids? No? Men's rights probably doesn't matter to you.

Do you have any desire to have sex without opening yourself to the potential of false allegations, murky definitions of rape, and no accountability for women who falsely accuse? No? Men's rights probably doesn't matter to you.

Do you have any desire to have a job where what a woman feels about what you said isn't grounds to get you fired? No? Men's rights probably doesn't matter to you.

But while you're a hobo on the street, you might wonder why women hobos get so much more dedicated service to helping them, even tho they are the vast minority of hobos... Unless you don't care about that, in which case men's right's probably don't matter to you.

Off the top of my head.

1) Men commit suicide 5 times a higher rate than women

2) Over 90% of the homeless are men

3) Bias against dads in courts. Women normally get full custody, even in cases where they are not the better parent.

4) Men die on average 5/6 years younger than women

5) Men, for the moment, retire 5 years later than women.

6) Men make up the majority of work place accidents.

7) Men have been 99.9% of all combat casualties and the armed forces is still currently 97% men. Men are also automatically on the draft list.

8) Men make up the vast majority of police casualties, 99% in the UK.

9) Men are more likely to be a victim of violence in general.

10) Male rape victims are generally ignored and don't recieve any help.

I could go on, but this should be enough for just now.

A lot of people that subscribe to this reddit don't post anything on here. I feel that is because the topic interests them but not to the point where they feel passionate enough to bring their opinions to the table. As a byproduct a majority of what you'll see on here will be people on the "more extreme" end of the spectrum sharing their opinions instead of the casual people that enjoy a good read.

Entitlement is too strong of a word for what men on here are seeking. Only in a socialist society would it be considered "entitlement" for someone to want to keep something they've worked very hard for. What men really want here is for the government to stop sponsoring groups and passing laws that are specifically designed to attack men/boys.

I don't come on here to "make a change in the world", I'm only one person. I do however come on here to get some re-assurance that there are other people out there that see a lot of the bias in today's society and are just as annoyed with it as I am.

If you really feel as though those things are insignificant then you have bigger problems than not caring.

no one can "make" you care, either an injustice bothers you or it doesn't. Western society is, in general lopsided. I see men's rights as a part of Egalitarianism. While I am well aware that women don't have it easy all the time, men have been getting the short end of the stick for awhile, not in everything, but quite a few things.

For me, it bothers me that feminism is considered; by-in-large "A movement for equality" which is just wrong, it is equality for women. It isn't the same as equality for everyone... As someone whose gone through the family court system and been dragged through the mud, not by the woman of my son, but by the Judge herself and as a man who is concerned for the health and safety of the every man (which is exactly what I am, along with most men.) It's something I pay attention to.

All I ever see from Feminists/MRA's is constant bitching. I generally feel like most of those things are insignificant.

if you feel this way then you're obviously not looking hard enough at the information, either that or you simply do not care... which is also fine. But when suicide rates for men are roughly 5 times higher than women and women are being educated at a significantly faster rate due to social policy, it isn't an "insignificant issue," it's a sign of a larger, social problem that needs to be discovered and addressed.

If you don't care then that's fine, but you cannot completely discount something you've admitted you basically do not understand, on both sides of the fence.

That's not the point of this subreddit. Reddit is a news aggregator and discussion site. The purpose of this subreddit is to aggregate news and host discussion on issues related to men's rights, and the MRM.

Why should you care? Because this shit affects you. Even if you live a life of celibacy and isolation, you could still find yourself on the wrong end of a false-accusation, or homeless without any shelters accepting men, etc. Why should we exist? Because without MRAs, these issues would probably be ignored. Consider this: are there any important issues which were brought to your attention by an MRA? Do you really think you would have heard of that, were it not for the MRA?

But yeah, you don't have to care. We'll still fight to protect your rights, even if you hate us for it.

The "bitching", as you call it, consists of legitimate complaints about being treated unfairly by society. MRAs want equality and justice for all, and the end of special treatment. See the sidebar for a list of the injustices males have to face.

These complaints about life-altering events (such as being denied visitation rights with your children if your wife is vindictive) are not insignificant.

You should care because by the time you realize that your rights are being infringed upon, there will be absolutely nothing you can do to stop it.

Further, you don't have to support every issue MensRights wants to address. Read through some of the material here, keep an open mind, and determine for yourself if you should care.

It is important to understand what can and can't affect you. In this case there are many very disturbing trends that can most certainly affect you at some point in your life. It is better to know what problems exist, even if you don't join arms in the fight. The pendulum of "fairness" has swung to far the other direction and now men are on the bad side. We must fight to bring things to the center again and think that it can't affect you is a dangerous gamble. Liken it to having a meth cook as a next door neighbor. You may not care what is going on normally until his lab explodes and destroys your property also.

What you may seeing as bitching and whining, and some of it is, is also a plea from the frustrated for help. Don't turn a deaf ear to what people say because of how they say it. Men are all in this together and we all need to care what is going on.

I'm not sure what brought each individual person here, but I assume it's because they or someone they know faced a serious issue in their life that was made worse for them simply because they were men.

Examples: paternity fraud, jailed for losing your job and not being able to pay child support, false rape claims, false DV claims, loss of parental rights, loss of access to your children, etc.

If you've gone through any of these horrific scenarios, you will tend to care more.

You don't have to care, and even if you care, you don't have to do anything. It's not a bad idea to at least be informed, though.
