I abstained from that other thread but I understood where the suspicion was coming from. With people lying about having cancer, was it really outlandish to cast doubt?

I think it's super lame that she got downvote brigades, but that's an unfortunate issue we all deal with for whatever tiny infraction incites e-retribution.

I doubt the downvote brigades will apologize, as I doubt few make any contributions in the first place. The "silent majority" of assholes.

I think a lot of the silent, reasonable crowd's (the majority?) thought processes ended with 'That's kinda suspicious. I wonder if there's anything more.' instead of going gorilla over a shred of doubt. I hope so, at least...

The people that took action on the suspicion without a confirm/deny on their questioning need to calm down.

Why does MR need to apologize as a whole if we never discussed it in the first place? I hadn't even seen this until now. MR members acting on their own does not equal the MR community.

I don't owe her an apology. I barely paid attention to the thread, though I always doubt anyone's accusation about pretty much anything - you know, innocent till proven guilty? I do, however, think she is an idiot for saying the following:

"Do not let the fear of not being believed stop you from speaking up. This is what lets this continue to happen."

So no, I won't apologize, but I will say "fuck you for perpetuating myths, bitch." The main reason women do not report rape is because they are embarrassed, not because they fear not being believed. Not to mention the reasons men don't report rape.

Most likely she's just a drama whore troll trying to prove how "women are not believed oh the poor wimminz". On Reddit. Frankly I'm tired of hearing it.
