I actually did very well for myself in court, but then again my parents helped me out a lot. I think the problem is the education system doesn't address the lack of rights issue to boys and men growing up. It's not enough to scare about pregnancies and std's, the reality of what's facing them is never truly laid out.

I had no idea a man has literally no rights to his children unless he's married to the mother. I had to pay (well me and my parents) over $3000 just to have basic rights over my son. That 3 grand went to my lawyer and court fees. In America you have to pay to have rights as a father.

How many teenagers have 3 grand lying around for lawyer fees? How many poor people living in the ghetto have that 3 grand all of the sudden? And that's just the beginning... the court system keeps checking in on the situation costing you more money for lawyer fees and more court fees. Kind of makes you see how easy it is for fatherless children to start becoming normal.

Once sperm leaves his body, a man has no reproductive choice whatsoever. And the majority of women obviously see nothing wrong with this. Women can deliberately defraud us, sue for child support, and win. Women can literally rape us, sue us for child support, and win. And even in the most extreme cases, most women will mouth some mindless line "best interests of the child" and tell us to "man up." Keep that in mind the next time some woman accuses you of being "anti-choice" or wanting women to be "barefoot and pregnant."

First, let me say, that as a woman I am completely appalled by the actions of this chick. How dare she?! It's disgusting. This was a premeditated action and she was awarded child support by the court? Oh....oh dearest justice system y u so flawed?

I think Dr. Irons should be required to pay Dr. Phillips the average amount a sperm bank would have paid for his donation. Dr. Phillips should have no financial responsibility to this child unless he decides he wants to be a father figure.

I can only imagine how violated and betrayed he feels.

Let's remember as we discuss this case what the limits of this ruling was:

Paternity exists because... It exists.
It wasn't theft because he gave her the sperm.

Even if she used the sperm for a purpose other than what he wanted her to use it for, he had still donated it into her possession. For instance, if I give you $3000 saying "I want you to buy a new car", and you spend it on cocaine, I can't sue you for theft. I gave you the money without any real conditions precedent or contractual covenants. Legally, it simply became "your money" at the point it changed hands.

I won't make a negligence argument, it's simple property law. If I leave you land without any conditions, but really hoping you'll keep my apple tree healthy, I can't blame you for replacing it with an oak tree. That part is entirely reasonable.

The question of paying child support on a child which the man didn't want is different, and one we've done before ad naseum.

Things like this happen because men rarely if ever have standards. Once you start valuing your semen and your bodies you will tend to only have sex with women that actually give a damn about you... Things like this won't happen nearly as often.
