I could not agree with you more. I get severely irritated when woman rant and rave about being passed up for a promotion because of their gender and really it was because they have a poor work ethic. Just because there was a time in history where women were held back (both by their own gender and the opposite) doesn't mean that you get a head start above the rest. Work your ass off from the bottom of the company just like everyone else! You must pay your dues.

I never really have understood the logic in dipping your pen in the company ink. What happens when the ink is low and there is friction? I don't want that kind of friction rubbing against my paycheck.

I think the scenario you just outlined is horrible, but I think the people with the privilege here are hot and sexy women. There are a lot of other women who lack the same privileges you're attacking.

I've contracted for every large investment bank... Goldman, JP Morgan, Citi, Deutsche, Salomon Smith Barney (many more)... you name it...

These instuition are essentially an extension of welfare for NYC. You don't need credentials (i.e., skills) to work there.

That being said, one of my best female managers was at Merrill. Black lady, hard working, no chip on her shoulder and actually knew what the fuck she was doing (software development). Most of the women I've worked for (and in IB, it's been more than half for me) have been competent and well suited for the job.

This is not a Men's Right issue... it's a statist issue, post it in the Libertarian subreddit.

Edit: I'd like to take this a step further. You don't like where you are working/who you report to, get the fuck out. I contracted with PIMCO 2 years ago and was beside myself when Bill Gross was begging the government to step into the markets. It sickened me to the point that I quit.

I didn't think sleeping your way up the corporate ladder was all that common. Then again, I don't think that women are paid less for the same job. I've never seen that as the case on entry level jobs.

I think what we're seeing here is how unworkable office politics is particularly with the technical fields. It's hard enough to grasp the specifics of a full project let alone have people purposefully throw wrenches into the situation. This is why startups are generally a pristine and productive environment, at least initially. And I don't think it's a trust issue either it's more like a human decency thing, but sometimes peoples world-views go a little off kilter and it only takes a few bad apples to spoil the balance of the bunch.

Your company is shit to begin with. They shouldnt be skipping links in the chain like your describing if they were a good company. Any failures that you would have should reflect off your manager. Your failures would be her failures but not the other way around.

What most feminist try to do is workplace equality. When I was working, I feel like I was smarter than majority of the men I was working with but unfortunately do not get noticed or heard because of being a female. Sometimes I would say something and no one agrees while minutes later another guy would echo the same thing I said and everyone would laud him for it. It gets annoying...

Like it or not alpha males like women coming to them. Granting a woman a position of power afterwards is the normal reaction for the alpha male.

Are you sure you should be posting in /r/MensRights? If anything, this story shows how weak and pathetic people can be. The problem didn't start with this woman -- the problem started with having weak leadership to begin with (who seem to be men if I'm reading properly). I mean, if anything, this belongs in some sort of PeopleSuck channel.

I think you should look again at what happened and spread out the blame a little bit more than you have.

But every time I hear a feminist complain about women being held back in the work place because of their gender... and I hear about how guys like me don't understand their privilege... how I have some advantage over women in the work place just because I have a penis... I get upset.

Keep in mind, the women complaining about that are probably the very ones that refuse to whore themselves out, so whatever privilege they get from their body is nullified by their decision to not be whores.

The women that do use their body to their advantage aren't the ones griping about inequity in the workplace.

In school, the girls of our class would always do much better. Why? because they get sympathy for being girls. Whenever there is a male teacher that did something they didn't like they would throw hissy fits and the teacher would always cave. I have never been able to convince a teacher I deserved a better grade than the one I got. For the girls it was standard procedure to start begging (successfully) for extra points if their grade wasn't good enough.

Don't get me wrong though. I don't blame the girls, I blame the men who allow this to happen. If I could cheat until everything goes the way I want it I would. Its just that we need to stop giving women both the privileges that come with the "you are a poor little fragile woman that needs help and protection" and the privileges that come with "women have been oppressed and need to be treated with great respect. Even more so because they are courageous enough to do things that men also do."
