The short of it, they were tired of the bullshit about equal pay. So they said we are going to negotiate a contract for both teams and not separate for gender. Equality in contract means the men now get more money than they did and the women less. Mind you this is the EXACT same contract, the women aren't happy. They were earning more but acted like they were not and are now pissed they get equal pay!!!

The whole point of the exercise was to leverage equality to take home more money not being actually equal and get paid less. Its hilarious!

What they should be focusing on is getting more people to watch them and going to games as that's where the money comes from, it's all about advertising and eyes on the screen. It's how all modern professional sports are now, sad but true. Rather than reeeeeing out about the patriarchy or some shit and looking for something to blame because thats easier, look at how you can get more people to watch and then you'll see more money.

I have a very simple solution that doesn't include men at all... it's simple really...

If the women want more money for their sport, then ALL women around the world (or those with a TV) just need to watch one female soccer match every week... preferably on Sunday like us dudes...

With millions of females spectators, they should get the revenue for the money they want...

The professional women athletes should be paid off three variables, ticket sales to their games, viewership of their televised games and, money advertisers are spending. Basically the same as men. They don't want that though. Because there's very little public interest in professional women's team sports. I don't know the reasons. Even women colleagues I interact with have zero interest but, they sure do know about their favorite men's team and who the stand outs are.

They try continuing with this new bullshit argument and improve the "equal pay" contract to get their old pay rate back, which will end up paying men far more, thus showing everyone their argument was a lie from the beginning

Or

They take the pay cut for the new "equal pay" contract... which shows that they were getting paid more overall before all this bullshit and thus showing everyone their argument was a lie from the beginning

There is literally no way they can win this... even if they end up with AT BEST their old pay rates, the new higher men's rates exposes them completely

Sports are supported largely by viewership, advertising, ticket sales, merchandising, etc. all of which can be tracked back to a team or even an individual athlete's overall financial pulling power. Salaries should simply be a percentage of what they're able to bring in, regardless of gender or discipline. That's the very definition of equality.

The women have not signed a new contract. Neither have the men signed a contract. The women’s contract expires the end of the year. The men’s expired back in 2018. Now the contract situation for both has changed quite a bit - and not for the better of the USSF position.

The big problems for the USSF and these deals are: (1) The deal with SUM is not up until 2022. (2) There is no realistic way to rectify two decades of discrimination
